so my initial reaction was that that since they added 3 shows (texas and phoenix) after mexico, it's possible they could continue this tour and play even more. however considering they are doing both texas shows first and then moving back west seems logical they will wrap it all up in phoenix.

This would be cool, though it'd be a lot cooler if they at least said more to come... if not brought them out (dates) all at once...this band...

I think its odd, its Houston & Austin rather than at least 1 Dallas/Fort Worth area show...going to make getting tickets for either of these shows that much more difficult, competing with the DFW fans as well. Friday is going to be tense...

^Thanks. $500 bones. How much do I really love this band? Not sure $500 worth just to get in. although I have certainly spent more on travel to see them. And where the hell are the LA dates? Very worried they'll announce something Thursday March 20th. Already have tickets to Kraftwerk that night. Blah blah blah

^They are playing in Mexico City on March 20th and Cumbre Tajin on March 21st.
My guess is Tool is already booked for LA rising this year.

Hm. Ok, guess I could see that. Wonder if it'll be them and Primus?
Edit- thought their Mexico City show was March 19th now?

My bad!
Yes it is March 19th. The promoter in Mexico confirmed other Tool shows in Guadalajara Mexico and Monterrey and there was even a ticketmaster flyer promoting those shows but for some reason they just cancelled.

Hey boys and girls, let's play a game! I'll call it "Help sonnyboy justify spending $500 on 1 ticket to see a band he's already seen 29 times"! It'll have two sections Pros and Cons. First, VIP details
- One (1) VIP ticket for admission to concert show
- Entry for one (1) to the VIP area in the venue
- Access for one (1) to sound check with members of Tool
- Q+A session with Adam Jones
- Exclusive merchandise pack including:
1. An exclusive Tool tour t-shirt
2. Poster
3. VIP laminate
4. Bag of goodies
Pros:
- One (1) VIP ticket for admission to concert show
Regular price for a good seat will be about $100 w/fees. Assume these VIP tickets will be in first 5 rows. So premium price of about $200?
- Exclusive merchandise pack including:
1. An exclusive Tool tour t-shirt
2. Poster
3. VIP laminate
4. Bag of goodies
Hard to say value here. But based on exp I'll go with the following:
1. An exclusive Tool tour t-shirt- $50
2. Poster- Unsigned, $35, signed, $100
3. VIP laminate- $25
4. Bag of goodies- $25
Approx total: $200
Total for everything so far = $400
Cons:
Gas to San Diego and back from LA= $75
The SD Sports Arena is kinda cruddy
Untold amounts of initial guilt for parting with $500
Unknowns in terms of value:
- Entry for one (1) to the VIP area in the venue = ???
- Access for one (1) to sound check with members of Tool= ???
- Q+A session with Adam Jones= ???
Alright, get busy and help out here. What am I missing Pros or Cons? What about those unknown values? I am counting on you guys!

Im having the same debate sonnyboy! $500 is alot of bones... The main question is the value of the unknowns you mentioned - VIP area, sound check, Q&A, etc...
Decent tickets to the currently sold out shows are going for $150+ on Craigslist. So comparative value of tix in the "first few rows" might be a bit more than $200- but the actual value of those seats is really what we'd be willing to pay...
For me another big Pro is getting to avoid depending on Ticketmaster and knowing I'll get good seats. Ive been screwed by Ticketmaster before. And the fact that I've spent over $500 in the past going to see Tool out of state helps me justify it as well...
A big Con for me though is that all of my local Tool buddies are strapped for cash and seem against paying $500. The pre-party without them wouldn't be the same.
Decisions decisions...

Okay sonnyboy, I am facing the same dilemma. The way I look at it, this will be my 17th show. I have never been to sound check or met any of the members of the band. I haven't seen them play in almost 4 years. If I get shut out on ticketmaster, I'm probably going to end up spending $300+ for a good seat. I got a great deal on the flight to Vegas and my room on the strip. I turn 40 in 5 days. I am going for the VIP tickets!
If the SD venue is crappy, why not make the drive to Vegas instead?

Just to confirm, do not believe this is the case, right? For their shop, I don't think being a TA member is required.

Uh, so mixed messages on the toolarmy site. Does the VIP pre-sale start at 10 am or 10 pm PST?

Pretty sure it has been 10am for all the previous sales there.
Anyone remember how long it took before they made remaining VIP tix available to non-members in the store?

Is that poster really worth $500-800? I'm not so sure. Good luck with it though
How is it "retouched" by Adam? I can't see any obvious doodling on it aside from the signatures?

$400 to 500 is about right. $800 is the Buy It Now price and is generally twice the value (no harm)
The Adam doodle is the red ink in the voice bubble.

What are you guys' estimates on how early they'll want us at the venue? Additionally, how many hours before do you think you'll get there regardless of their requested time?

Houston is at Toyota Center so 18,000 seats or so. That Cedar Park joint is only 8,500 or so. No DFW cause we got the two shows in 2012 with no other Texas dates. Our turn to travel.

Cedar Park Center sold out *fast*. I can usually score a good single-seat ticket by jumping on quickly, but the one I got this time was in the stands even further back than the soundboard. No complaints, I'll take it...but it's a far cry from the 2nd row on-the-floor I had last time they played there.
