Pane of Silence
I need words to break this silence.
Words to describe how I feel.
They come to my hand easily,
But they evade my tongue when they least should.
I need words to shatter
This brittle pane of silence.
I need actions that betray my thoughts.
You already know what these words are.
You’re just afraid of them.
You now what those words are,
But fear the pain the words and feelings
Will stir.
Believe me,
This hurts me
More than it does you.

Written a long time ago. Personally, I think that the third (should be a break at the fourth line in the second) stanza, if worked on would make it a lot better.

I’m just a shade
reflected in this window.
It’s dark inside,
but out is in limbo.
In my soul I know
what lies beyond
this fragile window.
Nothing better.
just a touch is all it would take
to shatter this pane of silence.
I’ll remain in the dark,
you stay in your pacified limbo.
It’s your doing anyway.
break it if you please,
but I know what would come of it.

So, please, just stay outside
where it’s nice and placated,
it’s just that I cannot abide
you and your ways.
You’re just a ghost to me now,
seen in the corner of my eye
and gone as I glance at you.
Pale and skinny and pathetic,
you waste away
beyond the pane of silence.
I may even watch,
or turn my head in disgust.
Either way, will you think of me
as you look up to the sky,

this blinking white
bar beckons so softly
and from such distance,
as the path
to cross has aged
and grown quite vapid -
still the fight to remain
afloat in a world of
words keeps insticts keen
