I've heard that the online ones are signed by the poster artist, but not the band, though it's not exactly clear on their website about who signed it.
Is it not even signed by the poster artist?

the misleading statements are borderline fraud if you ask me.

oh, and flac is mucho appreciated vs. mp3 - i mean you can always downconvert into mp3 and put it on your ipod (what i did) - but it's nice to be able to have the non compressed full "HD" copy of it available.

I'm gonna have to second that!!!
As for converting from FLACs... personally I'd recommend converting first to WAV/AIFF, and then to AAC (.mp4). They don't sound as shitty and watery (not to mention missing much higher-frequency information) as MP3s. If you have a program like Roxio (Toast/Easy CD Creator) or Nero, you can create a disc image out of an audio CD (rather than burning it), then mount that disc image, and then rip the disc into iTunes using your desired settings.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Once again a strange newsletter on the tool page... any ideas of what it all means?
Possible hints at more shows?
Possibly saying that more shows for the 10,000 days tour "won't be happening in this universe."
or possibly im looking too much into it and he's just fucking with everyone?
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Well, I managed to decipher from it that pre-sale tickets for a show in Missoula, as well as one other show will go on sale January 17. (remember, there are no J's! "Esus" "Anuary" etc.). Missoula is spelled backwards. See what else you all can pick out from it! Sounds like another leg of the tour to me, with 2 sets instead of one!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Well, I know for sure that it says at least 2 shows which go on sale 1/17. The one for Missoula MT is presumably a make up show for the one they missed recenty there because Maynard got sick.

"Pre-sales for this show and the second 0-1Notnanas show (on the intercalary)"
Notnanas = San Anton = San Antonio TEXAS
there already has been a rumor about TOOL coming back announced on the Local Radio Station down there. We can only wait and FIND OUT!
I can't figure out what "(on the intercalary)" is tho...
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
What intrigues me the most is the new setlist posted... 2 sets seperated by an intermission, songs from all 4 albums (some that haven't been played live in quite a while), pushit (salival version), no quarter... a tool fan's wet dream if they aren't bs'ing us.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
um this newsletter is obviously mocking the fact that all of the fans on here request waaay too many outrageous setlists, complain about not being able to take pictures or record video, and treat tool like its some fantasy land that they deserve to be a part of. good luck.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Even if so, they did skip out on the Missoula show, and so at least that part of it will be true. It's doubtful that they would even hint at presale dates if it weren't true. Whether or not we get more than that and the San Antonio show remains to be seen, but I'm pretty sure that we'll see at least that much.
And honestly, I wouldn't call that setlist outrageous, hell, pink floyd would put that to shame easily. Look at P.U.L.S.E.'s DVD. (though I'll admit their music is a good bit less intense than tool's, but still)
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I don't know if "TIMMY" and "TRIA(X)" count as jibberish, as they can both be deciphered as "Jimmy" (no j's, remember) and Triad (especially as it follows Disposition and Reflection).
Probably nothing more than a silly hoax, but man...that'd be an awesome setlist.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Tool did do a tour after the Lateralus based tour a few years back. If you remember they finally changed the setlist and thru in songs from Opiate and songs like Third Eye. Just go and search the tour review section.
"If" Tool are indeed doing another tour they will for sure switch up the setlist to where its nothing like the 10000 Days tour.
If Tool tours again I will have to see them again. I know they will play a different setlist...and that means there's no way I'm missing it. I just hope they don't play The Pearl in Las Vegas...that town has cost me a lot of money.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
OK, first of all someone mentioned that Tool did a post-Lateralus tour which consisted of a set list like:
Cold & Ugly
The Grudge
Stinkfist
H.
Schism
Parabol(a)
Third Eye
(set break)
D/R/T
Lateralus
True, but it was still a part of the Lateralus tour despite the fact "Third Eye" and "Cold & Ugly" were added.
Second, Blair fucks around at Toolband.com. This is nothing new, he is clearly just firing back at all the fans that email him with complaints and/or wishlists pertaining to the sets. It's not impossible that they could still do a few more shows but Blair wouldn't fuck with us like that if something were brewing, he would come out and say something.

Fan's responses. I only skimmed over the newsletter, but I new immediately that it was a joke. Pretty funny i must say. Go back to your lives people. Tool is done, not forever...only for awhile. lol

I originally thought that too, but here's my new theory.
Australia /New Zealand tour
Everything on Blair's post was the opposite of what really happens. Southern hemisphere is opposite of Northern. All that quadrant talk. Winter/Summer, green/purple, fake setlist/real setlist cameras/no cameras, live dvd/no dvd free backstage extravaganza/get real. Not sure about the missing J's though.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Why talk of Missoula and San Antonio then? Doesn't add up at all. Either way, you skeptics can't deny that those 2 cities were mentioned, and presale dates for both were given. The rest may be yanking our chains, but I'd say he pretty much "came out and said it" enough for at least those 2 shows.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I wouldn't hold my breath. It would be REALLY fucking awesome if all this *actually* happened, but the "live DVD," "green pen" and "recording devices" comments make it seem a little too obviously fake.
Or maybe just some of it's fake, and the comments about the new tour dates are real, and he's trying to fool all of us who think it's all fake?
Or maybe it's all real and he's trying to REALLY fool all of us who think it's fake?
Fucking hell. See, this is why you shouldn't hold your breath. =P
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I would say that the vast majority of it is fake/joke. However, I think the 2 shows mentioned are real, and they could possibly be doing the eastern half of the US before they're done touring for 10,000 Days. Well... hopefully.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
FYI, this is from the December 2001 newsletter:
Quote:
Q: I’ve heard that there are several Tool CDs that were released in Europe, but not in America. Is this true, and if so, how can I order them?
A: It is true. In the insert in the European version of Aenima there is a catalogue which lists these CDs. They include: "Three Fat Brown Fingers", "Nurse Ketimella’s Kit* Chen", "Just Up That Dirt Road (Tool Live at the Acropolis)", "The Bethlehem Abortion Clinic", "Crapsteaks smothered in Dictators" and "The Christmas Album by Tool." Someday I will tell you what makes ONE of these cds so special - something the band members don’t want anyone to know - though it’s there for discerning listeners. Perhaps I’ve said too much already.
Those two were mentioned in this most recent newsletter. Not sure if that means anything as far as deciphering this cryptic nonsense, but there ya go.
It's worth noting that those two "album titles" were listed in non-US releases of Aenima as "other albums by Tool," which were obviously fake.
So this supposed new setlist that Blair's cryptically alluding to includes two "songs" from fake albums. Like I said...don't get your hopes up.
edit: Translations for other seemingly nonsense words in the newsletter: Apocatastasis: the doctrine of the ultimate reconciliation of good and evil. Maintains that all moral creatures will eventually come to harmony in God's kingdom. Leaving the harmony of not touring? *shrug* cloaconimbus: a cloud or smog hanging over a heavily populated area (L.A.? Maybe they're leaving the west coast and touring over here?) qlipoth: Close to "qliphoth," which represents "evil forces" (L.A. again?) mattermitter: Device for teleportation neolexical coding: Naming of something that has not been named before BALCHIPUSHTI: Lord of the Cockroaches, or King of the Jebusites Abomination of Desolation: Something to do with the reign of the Antichrist OCELLUS FRONTIS: Third Eye (duh) Orichalcum: A mythical metal Pharzuph: The angel of carnal delights ZPG: Zero population growth Sen-zar: The most ancient language in the world, the "language of the divine beings"
Emantiodroma didn't yield any Google results, but it asked if I meant "Enantiodromia," which is:
Quote:
Enantiodromia (Greek: enantios, opposite + dromos, running course) is a concept introduced by psychiatrist Carl Jung meaning the superabundance of any force inevitably produces its opposite. It is equivalent to the principle of equilibrium in the natural world, in that any extreme is opposed by the system in order to restore balance.
Perhaps meaning that the overabundance of fans requesting a live DVD and a fantasy 3 hour setlist will actually give us the opposite: a complete absence of both? =P

This is the best interpretation/deciphering by far! =)

I wouldn't count on it. This last mini-tour, I'm fairly certain, made up for the fact that they hadn't played many western/northwestern dates on this tour in quite some time. The last big North American leg saw a lot of shows from the midwest to the east coast.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I shot an email to LA Lloyd down here in San Antonio, he is the director of KISS FM 99.5 and the response I got from him is:
"I have not seen a 100% confirmation on a date in SA. However, I have heard they (Live Nation) are looking at booking them at Verizon. 2/29 would be amazing. We could have some fun promoting the date that only happens every 4 years."
now don't mark my words, but there is a good chance they will play at the Verision Wireless Ampitheater in Selma on the leap year date. it would make some sense because it sounds like they are going back to Missoula to make up that show they canceled. TOOL has canceled on SA twice, and only came back once, so that would explain why they would play down here again.
Now as far as the setlist and LIVE DVD, those I'm sure are fake. I have read in many interviews by the band members that there won't be any LIVE DVDs and only possibly a movie, which is a long LONG time away

As WookieeBlaylock pointed out, the recent mini-tour was mostly for hitting the places that didn't get shows on the last US leg in the spring of 2007, so the East Coast didn't miss out seeing as how they already got theirs last spring. I say mostly because there were a few exceptions that were thrown in (like Vegas) since they were already "in the area".
The shows on the recent mini-tour would have likely taken place last spring had Danny's injury not set the start of the tour back. This left them with a finite end date before they had to get ready to go to Europe, and there wasn't enough time to fit it all in.

Once again how amazing it is that we, including myself, piss down both legs at something that we probably all know is joshing around, but still have a glimmer of hope it will go down. It would be awesome to have that setlist tho.
