Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
you guys going to the Dallas show are lucky. The closest show to me is a 2 1/2 day drive to colorado from my house in WA. I am starting to realize that there will be no shows in the north west. I know TOOL loves Seattle but i dont think it will happen this tour. would gladly pay $300 for a ticket in the northwest right now
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
We were very lucky to get three in 202 row AA!! Hooray! Also got two in 406 way up there and not sure if they will go unused or if we'll need to turn them to loyal TOOL fans. We've got some time to figure it out.

There really isnt a bad seat at Nokia. Its up there, but its not a WAY up there like in an arena.

Yeah I am kinda worried about that....Can anyone shed some light on the "OBSTRUCTED VIEW" ? I'm in one of the side sections (101) it does not appear to be an obstructed view from looking at the virtual tour on the nokia website. I'm hoping i'm far enough back (row N) that I will be ok. Also I dont see them selling these side sections (105 & 101) for the same $80 as the pit tickets if the view was really obstructed. ANYONE???

My guess is its b/c 101 is on the far right side, you will not be able to see all of the far left side of the stage.

There's rumor of an Atlanta show, but zero details were offered.
Only reason I give it credence at this point is it was started by a TA member claiming they talked to someone at an ATL radio station. It was then posted on Fourtheye, and Blair mentioned on TA that fourtheye was a good place to look for info he couldn't post yet.
Those aren't exactly the strongest reasons to believe it, but I so desperately want it to be true, hah!

Anyone know exactly what the SouthWest Flight Deck is? I ended up ordering an extra single and got one of these tickets. Is it just a row of seats between 300 and 400?

I can't think of any reason those seats would be obstructed, unless it's because there is a walkway right in front of them. CCC is 3 rows back from the walkway, and I think the section is elevated above the walkway slightly, so I doubt that's it.
Lighting wouldn't obstruct that section, and I can't foresee any reason it would obstruct any seats (including the balcony). There is no guarantee of that, as there could always be an unforeseen variable to mess things up, but I would say a lot of work goes into being as reasonable as possible about obstructions.

Here's a decent pic showing the SW Flight Deck (at least I think) - it's possible that the pic shows the 300 Section:
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Got my ticket this morning.
I knew my lady woudn't want to go (I took her to the last two TX dates), so I bought a single for myself. Especially knowing that it's a smaller venue, I'd have a horrible shot at getting a pair of seats together anywhere ahead of level 300.
I scored Sec. 101 Row Q buying a single.
BTW, just to re-iterate, Ticketbastard still sucks the highhardone... $103.79 after the service charges...
For anyone freaking out about getting shitty seats, there's not a bad seat in the house.
The place may seem small, but it's not. I've seen plenty of shows there.
BTW, the sound quality is phenomenal at Nokia.
Be sure to take along some extra $$ if you plan on drinking in the venue, as, beer is around $7, tallboys are around $9, and their margaritas are fking $12 (at least they were last time we were at Nokia).
Parking: Unless you splurge and get the VIP parking, the parking for the rest of us is basically a field in front of the venue, so you (we) can tailgate to your heart's delight. ffftbelch.
Cheers!

Just curious... Where the hell were the $54.75 tickets for Dallas? We got section 411, half way back, and the price was still eighty-someshit dollars (which turned out to be over $100 each after ticketbastard raped me!) I'm not blaming the band for this evil shit, but I wish they'd help prevent this from happening. It is possible. I'm here to support TOOL, not ticketbastard and all the scalpers!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS!
I'M SO HAPPY!
That was some crazy quick selling show for sure.
How the fuck none of you fuckers get pit tickets?
I thought you were tool fanatics and shit.
I guess the better question is how the fuck did i walk off with 6 pit tickets?
SUCKERS!!!!!!
Special thanks to the ticketmaster lady who had me ready to ring up right at ten.
I feel bad for you who didnt get tickets.
but i do feel good for me and 5 of my friends.

By the way, this morning I was listening to a bootleg of a WA concert from the 10,000 Days tour. This audio includes the intermission part, where those 3 circular structures (the alien ships) came down a little bit and started making these noises and rotating a little bit. Then I remembered when I saw this at the Houston show (Nov. 2007). I seriously thought that the aliens were going to come down and abduct the audience.
What was the idea behind this, Junior? I thought it was cool but for me it didn't feel like a natural transition from Flood to Wings fro Marie Pt. 1. I liked the distortion sound during the Intermission from the last leg of the Lateralus Tour and the band sitting down onstage during the European leg (fall 2006) of the 10,000 Days Tour but the "alien machines"...cool but they seemed awkward.
Ideas are being discussed, but at this point it's still just ideas. There are a lot of things to consider, one of which is the type of venues, and I still don't have a complete answer to that one. The workable space certainly dictates what you can put in it, so it really helps to get that knowledge before you jump in head first. We already know there are some arenas (SLC), some large theatres (Grand Prairie), and some festivals (Mile High, APW, Lollapalooza), so we need to be flexible enough to make it work in a variety of venues.
I don't think I should go into the exact process for how the intermission ended up that way. It's better for the interpretation factor if it's left a bit ambiguous. It's one of those things that wasn't entirely planned out, which is probably why it seemed a bit unnatural, but instead it grew into that almost on its own and kept morphing throughout the tour.
I always partially looked at that section as a "palate cleanser" before the rest of the show, or maybe a slight bit of confusion for the senses. I liked reading the various interpretations.
Kinda curious as well as that's where I got seats at.
It looks like that picture was taken from the front edge of the balcony (406, probably).
The dude with his feet against the railing in the bottom of the picture is in the front of section 305, at my best guess. The sound and lighting control area is in front of him at the back of section 204. I think The Flight Deck is under the balcony at the very back of the 300s, but raised up slightly.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
i managed to get 2 tickets in 402, row c. witch seem to be fairly decent... especially considering that this is generally an experience better taken in from a-far.
i can't say that i'm not disappointed that i didn't get something a wee bit closer... especially considering that i perfectly timed everything to hit "find tickets" when my clock said 10:00:02...
it's so fucking hard to compete with all these fuckers that have some kind of trick up their sleeve...
...but I SUPPOSE that we should all be grateful to have any tickets at all, considering that this is only, what, the 5th show announced, the first even remotely near the texas area (i think we can see that there's folks from all over the country, even MEXICO who want to come to this), we're competing with a bunch of douchbags with an "in", ANNND this venue only holds less than 6300 people.
let's not forget that this band easily sells out 20K+ seat arenas.
...i'm pumped...
...this should be... ...wait for it... epic.

i'm thinking that next time i'll get in line at an actual ticketbastard location and see if i can do a little better...

Can't don't sweat it just yet.Keep checking Ticketmaster everyday for the next month or two and there will probably be tickets available at some point in time.I don't see anyway Ticketmaster's subsidiary TicketsNow will get $2-500 each for these tickets.Maybe I am out of my mind but I just do not see people paying those prices.Hell I would pay $200 in a second if the profits were going to band and crew but that isn't the case.
Not to mention just showing up at the venue. At the Pearl -which is a really small venue- in December of '07 there were some tickets to be had at face value on the day of both shows.
I miss the days of first come first served after standing in line 24 hours at the central ticket office.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Whats up everyone! This is my first post ever, although I have been following this thread for quite some time. Was able to score 4 PIT tickets online this morning at 10:09, so i'll see you all at the show.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
wtf...if there are supposedly more texas shows why the hell are they waiting so long to come out with them? one by one...to make sure each arena sells out? i am still waiting for a houston show and if it doesnt happen then fuck it. i aint biting the bait this time.
