some of the best b/w photos I've had i expected to be better in color and weren't (but in gretal's case I agree because you would lose the color gradient in the sky)

Great shot, the star flares on path lamps are awesome. It's a crisp nightshot. The light trails remind me of the Perseid meteor shower we got a glance at last night here in Ohio. Also, mega dig your Flight of the Navigator avatar!
