In NOLA for the last show of this minitour. Getting pumped! Hadn't been back to New Orleans for awhile. What a great city.

Any one else feel like they didn't have the mix zeroed in because this was such a short tour?

I think the mix varies show to show - not tour to tour. They may have less control at festival shows,

Unless they were running with a new sound guy, I wouldn't have thought the length of the tour would have much to do with it. Was the sound really that bad on the tour? I gotta say I haven't really read many complaints.

Aftershock was a little raw, with MJK back in the mix. I suspect it has a lot to do with where one is sitting.

I personally didn't think it was that bad, it just didn't seem as good as the last couple times Iv seen them. I had almost identical seats this time as the past mini tour. I have read a lot of complaints on Reddit though. A couple of people from every show said it seemed a little off.

overall for me I get like the sound was good..maybe not perfect but it wasn't bad. the band though didn't seem as in sync. Probably something to do with not having enough time to rehearse.

They have to be getting as bored of those songs as we are. Im hoping that with an extended new album, many of these "standards" will be retired.

overall for me I get like the sound was good..maybe not perfect but it wasn't bad. the band though didn't seem as in sync. Probably something to do with not having enough time to rehearse.
They have to be getting as bored of those songs as we are. Im hoping that with an extended new album, many of these "standards" will be retired.

Yes, please.

Kanaduh, did you make it to the show?

So what now? Band goes into hibernation for the winter and works on the album? Its probably going to get real quiet around here for a while.

Maynard book tour and Puscifer mini tour.

Conceivably the new Tool album should come out late next summer before the grape harvest.

Maynard goes and does 50 different projects and renames "2016_setlist.docx" to "2017_setlist.docx".

Adam goes to WWE shows.

Danny plays Volto shows and goes to basketball games, or rather is late to Volto shows because he is watching basketball games.

Justin...is Justin.

I always check in and read, though I usually have little to say unless I've just dabbed in a dark/quiet room... Then I tend to go on about nothing and want to delete it all later

I started documenting some of my concert stories from over the years and thought I would cut and paste the Tool ones here.

Some of you folks might get a kick out of them.

Nice! This month's concert budget is allocated to the two Temple of The Dog shows or I would go.

MJK 'lecture' tonight in San Francisco. Will be interesting. Assuming the book that comes with the ticket will be handed out at the show, look forward to reading it. Laura Milligan will be funny I assume. Interesting that Maynard seems to be the only one to get her back out doing comedy stuff. She hasn't done much as of late besides Puscifer.

Reports have been pretty mixed from the Q&As so far. Some have complained Maynard hasn't really elaborated on questions asked, preferring just short answers, while others seem to have walked away happy with how the night has gone.

Seems to be somewhat dependent on the moderator as well - if there's no "connection" then the night doesn't seem to go as well. Given Lauren Milligan as the moderator that night, I'd expect it to be a good one.

Back home from the event and I do say it was a good experience. Laura Milligan didn't do much comedy, but in fact asked some pretty good questions. Some basics like "what was your inspiration for..." type things. Maynard def was comfortable with all she asked. He has been vague with those type of questions from random interviewers, but seemed to really go into every question she asked. She asked him/discussed the early days of alternative comedy that she and Maynard were in the early 90's. I already forgot the name of the group/performance of the comedy troop where she and Maynard met, but she talked about it for a bit. As I've probably have said already in the past on this board, I have only recently got 'super into' comedy, like only three or four years. But it really made me happy hearing the two of them talk old '90's comedy like Janeane Garofalo, David Cross, etc.
Book readings were way shorter than I thought. I assumed that they would take a huge time of the show. But every ready seemed to be about 3 mins or less. Never looked at my watch or anything, but the passages were very short.
Anyway it is cool that I got presented with 4 Maynard projects in a month period (Tool, Puscifer & Caduceus @ Aftershock, plus this book tour). I did get the book at the show, so looking forward to reading it!

Re: General Tool Discussion

APC has "big plans" in 2017.

This normally wouldn't piss me off

But WTF

after that one more warm-up tour so they can perfect schism and stinkfist live

maybe a few empty seats at their shows would give them the kick in the pants they need

It really is amazing/hilarious to be 10.5 years into this drought and still be playing the same game. Puscifer releases/tours, occasional APC mini-tours so Billy can pay his bills, accented with Tool mini-tours so they can feel nice and complacent about making an album on their own terms.

edit: *putting an album on the backburner on their own terms*

Living in Southern California I would be stoked to see APC live anytime. Every APC show that I have seen was high entertainment and energy. I of course was on Cannabis edibles for most of the shows, but still shows were great. I can't believe, wait, I guess I can believe that we aren't getting a new Tool album until 2018. Crazy!! Did Billy say that there will be new APC tracks as well? I am stoked for that.

Junior!!!! You going to be lighting the APC shows?

I'm hopeful but at the same time was very underwhelmed by "by and down". Emotive has grown on me over the years - still not as great as thirteenth step/mer de noms, but not as terrible as I once thought either.

Anyone hitting any of these festivals in 2017 to see APC? Pretty cool that Soundgarden is headlining same nights APC plays. I'm hoping for some one off headlining shows booked around the festivals are announced soon. What are the chances??

I would say the chances are very good.

If they release new material that sounds good, and play near me at a reasonable price, yes. Otherwise I'm plum out of money for Maynard.

This, but if they just stick to the first 2 albums and don't make any more music, I'm cool with that.

As soon as APC became a thing again I assumed Tool was off the cards for 2017
