I have 2 questions. 1. is there a charge for parking? 2. are they strict about seating. the only other show Ive been to was tool and a lot of people werent there due the rain so you could pretty much go where you wanted to.
Re: 2007/05/26 - Birmingham, AL - Oak Mountain Amphitheatre
The waiting is the hardest part. Here it is finally, the day of the show. Read last nights Pensacola Review. It was Kinski's last show so I wonder who we'll get. Same set list as usual. I don't care. I'm jacked !!! Hope all the out of towners make it here safely and let's all experience this together. Maybe Maynard remembers B'ham from last time and the downpour and will give us a surprise....Pushit...Aenema...???

wait so is kinski not playing?
and for the dude that asked about parking, it is included in your ticket but that shit fills up fast, me and my friend will be heading that way around 5 and just chilling out in the lot til its time. Look us up if you want.
Re: 2007/05/26 - Birmingham, AL - Oak Mountain Amphitheatre
Yep, Kinski not only opened, they came out for Lateralus which seemed to go on for weeks...hard to hear the Kinski guys till it was time for them to leave the stage. Notice that Maynard sang the la-la-la-laaa-la-laa's during Vicarious?? Most vocal he's been in several shows...lasers outdoors...they burned for what seemed like miles up into the sky. Some decorated the treeline behind the venue. Pretty trippy and quite different from seeing them inside an arena. Young crowd for the most part. Very laid back security. Everyone was blazing up in the 3rd Tier. I was stretched out shroomin and being mellow and sweaty. There could have been a better breeze, that is for sure. PUSHIT was the PH-PHAT. MJK sounded great.
Re: 2007/05/26 - Birmingham, AL - Oak Mountain Amphitheatre
Awesome show. PUSHIT !!!!! Ya know....the overall vibe was just positive last night. Strangers talking and whatnot. Maynard fed off of the total vibe....I could feel it. He was very talkative and animated. I'm bummed that it's over. Wish I could catch em in Atlanta.

I'm so bummed that it's over. I'd love to catch em again but fundage is low right now. I heard someone say that after the european jaunt that there might be more American dates. Anyone else out there have a Tool "letdown" after such an awesome experience?

Re: 2007/05/26 - Birmingham, AL - Oak Mountain Amphitheatre
Glad to see I'm not alone. I heard Tampa got " The Pot " tonight. I'm thinking of looking into Bonneroo but being a festival....I'm not so sure, Plus I don't know a single soul that might could go with me. Whatta letdown.

Haha, during Stinkfist (Extended) the crowd totally starts singing "I'll keep Digging"....then, kind of faintly, you hear Maynard laugh in the mic.
However, I've listen to that part like 6 times now - It sounds as if MJK himself starts singing "I'LL..." and then stops and the crowd continues, then you hear him laugh.
It starts at about 4:20 - you hear him lead out to it, but I swear he says "I'LL..." (kinda dragged out a bit). Anyone else hear that, or catch it?

Yes, you really did hear that.
There was some mis-communication between Danny and Maynard as to which version (long or short) they were doing that night. Maynard thought it was the normal version and Danny thought it was the extended version. They soundchecked with the album version that afternoon, and Maynard was laughing at the fact that they had screwed up.

Wow, that is a total screw up...considering the lead into the extended version by danny is significantly different from the lead in on the album version....
Where did you hear of this miscommunication anyway, or is that just a guess as to what happened?

I've got a very reliable source.
Plus, I saw and heard it quite clearly.

Heh, alright. If you feel like bragging, PM me :P
Yea, all good tho. Mishaps are human - i enjoy missed chords and things of this sort just as much as a solid flawless performance.
We're all just monkeys with a conscience, after all :p

Haha. Didn't know TOOL's lighting guy ever visited this site. What's goin' on Junior? Thanks for all the setlists you've given me over the years. Lookin' forward to the upcoming tour in Nov?
Btw all... I stopped by to mention that I've got a few pictures from the Birmingham show posted on the flickr page. I know I'm months late, but I finally got around to getting them off my phone. They're not fantastic, but they're better than nothing...
