i think this song is, in a way, about how you can never fully know yourself.. once you think you've figured yourself out, something changes. its easier to understand others than it is to understand yourself.

i know you well, ive observed you and people like you for my entire life. we're all a part of each other. we all have the same human experience (no matter how hard you fight it).. i know you better than i know myself - our minds have a blind spot. we can objectify other people and observe them, but you can never observe yourself. you can only observe reflections of yourself (mirror, family, friends, hobbies, art, etc.), but that isnt the same thing.

he said something like

and you can come up with some interesting things.
