Today is Día de los Santos Inocentes (Saint Inocents' Day) in most parts of America, originated from the biblical legend where Herodes killed all children in Bethelem.
It works the same as your April Fools' Day: jokes and pranks and bulllshit all day.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Well, video recording devices can be seen at any tool show in abundance. Hell, both shows I caught this tour... the crowd resembled a starlit sky from all of the cell phones recording video of the show (as well as the occasional camcorder LCD), so it isn't that far fetched to hear him mention that.
A quick visit to youtube and the search "tool live" will yield almost every show on the tour in video form.

Interesting, especially considering that one of the songs on the supposed setlist was from the "Bethlehem Abortion Clinic" CD. Although the post technically was 2 days ago.

Honestly? Why the hell does anyone believe what Blair says? I bet he's laughing at all of you right now out of his own amusement! Isn't that part of something Tool does regularly, jacks with fans? Remember when he said Ticks and Leeches and Triad are possible to come out? And did they ever play them on 10,000 Days Tour?...no...
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I don't understand why Tool chooses to fuck with their fans and treat them shitty. It's like Tool's the pimp, and we're all their prostitutes. We work hard to get people into them, get them to the shows, and all we get in return is the pimp equivalent to a slap in the face, and a "Make me some breakfast ho!"

Ha. See below.
"does anyone know where to find the picture of alex grey painting maynard before a show? its one of the still photos in the vicarious dvd documentary."
The case has been put to rest. It should be fairly obvious. Explanatory, even.

you can, but then you will have to forfeit your life to being sodomized by the Jabberwocky, all the while being strapped down in a chair and made to watch Tiny Tim's video of "Tiptoe through the Tulips" a la "A Clockwork Orange"... You still interested?

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I got to thinking (for a change), and was wondering about whatever the various factors were that dictated whether or not Danny would play the Lateralus crazyfuck percussion solo part, solo, or with the guests/opener's drummer... during last year's shows.
I saw three shows in '07, the first at Bonnaroo, and the second at Saskatoon. At both shows, I absolutely LOOOOOOVED what Danny did on his own; blew my fucking mind. However, at the Victoria show, and on SOME of the recordings I've heard where he played with a guest drummer, that section never seemed to quite amount to the same level of sheer intensity, at least not in my mind. Don't get me wrong, the drum duals kick a lot of ass (particularily during Triad on the Lateralus tour... which I guess were trios, correct? [I missed out on that tour]). Lateralus in Everett, mind you, kicked a lot of ass.
Anyhow. Perhaps - prior to playing Lateralus - if the band feels they've played a really tight show up until that point in the night, perhaps they opt to keep the stage to themselves kinda thing. Or, do the guest drummers on certain nights just become too overwhelmed with anxiety or intimidation (what a task, playing alongside our Divine Master!), and opt out?

It's actually a lot more boring than that.
The opening act quite often travels by van instead of bus. This means they have some long drives that they have to do and sometimes have to leave before 'Lateralus'.
Also, sometimes they have to leave early to get to a show of their own that they are doing on a day that Tool has off.
At Bonnaroo the opener wasn't there, and they didn't know any of the drummers. Also, that night they decided to have Tom Morello do a guitar thing instead.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Thanks junior. Makes perfect sense... especially given how relatively remote a city like Saskatoon is.
I didn't think I'd be that close with my suppositions; just kinda throwin' crap out there. Mostly I'm just (still) reeling from the awesomeness that were my wonderful experiences of having seen the band five times this past tour. Cheers everyone.

There will be no more touring. Band relations are not good right now. It's 3 against 1 in the Tool camp. The band could be over for good. We'll be lucky to see another album, never mind a tour. Move on people, it's over, Johnny.

yea, i actially just heard from a mute guy that told me in sign language that TOOL had a space shuttle built like the parabola floaty things on the lateralus tour and they are going to do a live show while orbiting saturn that only TA members whos username starts with a C can attend. all the while alex grey will be doing live painting from the pyramids that is replicated by use of a hologram in side the shuttle.

Well, word around the spiral is, Maynard is trying to bring forth the coming of christ by making statues of puscifer. It's said that he will tour the globe after his sex change and has grown tits so he doesn't have to wear a bra, like back in the day. He is just going to tour with his tits hanging out, singing REV 22:20 over and over again, and play with his pussy ( or pushed in dick), if you will.

Not what everyone seems to think...
Blair posted a newsletter on Toolarmy that mentioned Jan. 17 and some of his usually cryptic scrawling. Many people have interpreted it to be the pre-sale date for some upcoming shows, but that is unlikely.
I'm fairly sure that something will happen on the 17th, and TA members will be the first to know about it.
