I certainly hope that they have a lot more pit tix to sell than they did @ Camden. I will be quite pleased either way, but I think we all know that beggers can be choosers as well.
why would they put tickets onsale on a friday. how am I supposed to buy tickets at work. it should make it easier for the scalpers to buy tickets, since they're lasy greedy bastards and probably make a living just selling tickets. so they probably don't have work.
I appologise for the misinformation my friend at the arena told me saturday. I guess he just thought that since every other concert goes onsale on saturday's this would be the same.
the pit at the tweeter center is much smaller than at an arena show. so pit tickets should be easier to get.

can you give a quick rundown on gettin to this place? I mean as far as public transport from New York...
i'd bet that there's a bus that leaves from chinatown to DC. look up fung wah or one of those bus lines... they usually do pretty good prices on roundtrips... like $20-$25 roundtrip.
I know bro, I mean once Im at the bus/train station, in DC..., also is that one of the relatively safe areas to walk around? where the hell is this place?
Edit- I just might be taking the shuttle flight from LGA, if they are cheap...

Metro goes right under the verizon center, just like Penn does at the garden. Im not sure if amtrak stops at that stop, or if you have to get off in dc, and hop on the metro to the verizon center stop, but there shouldnt be much walking involved.
so am i reading the ticketmaster info correctly? (i hope not)
it says to choose 'end stage chart' if you want to look at the seating chart. the problem is 'end stage' has seats on the main floor. 'end stage 2' is the one that is general admission for the main floor.
no you're not...but that is the same exact seating chart picture I saw before I went to NIN there and it was gen admission on the floor. It could have changed but I seriously doubt it.

Although I saw them twice in Japan in 2001 & 2002, I haven't been to a show in the States since 1996. For those of you who've seen them recently, what's the floor been like? Back in '96, there were a lot of violent psychos thrashing around and really hurting people. Still that way? I only ask because I want to take my wife to the show, and I want it to be a pleasant experience. Trying to help her understand why her 33 year-old husband still wears TOOL t-shirts and decorates his office with old concert posters. Any help/advice would be appreciated . . .
I'm thinking about driving all the way up to see this one because I'm afraid they won't come to North Carolina for another year or so. Anyone know when the rest of the east coast gets some well-deserved tool-action???
Hopefully, they'll do a more thorough N. American tour after they finish up in Europe. I have to believe that's the plan -- places they almost always play have been left off this tour (New Orleans, all of Florida). Let's hope they play Charlotte or Raleigh when they come back. Washington's not that bad of a drive from N.C. -- we're in Winston and it only takes us about 6 1/2 hours. Plus, I think the arena's on our side of DC, so we won't have to battle with ALL the traffic on the Beltway.

The last few Tool shows I have been to haven't been super-rough in the pit. It seems Tool is drawing a crowd that wants to see hard rock but doesn't need to wear it on their sleeve by acting like idiots. There is some moshing, but not the whole floor area. And besides, I went to the NIN show @ MCI Center this past November that was very uncharacteristically tame. The DC crowd that shows up to Verizon (MCI center) seems to be fairly manageable. It seems that most people need some space to do their thing, but not neccesarily come crashing into your side, elbows out. Speaking of rough crowds, Rage needs to reunite! Alas, that is another msgboard alltogether.

The Verizon Arena (MCI Center) is right in the heart of DC right against Chinatown. It may not require as much Beltway time, but it will still be a very hairy place to get to on a Saturday night. Plan plenty of BS traffic time.
just try and find a hotel thats on your side of DC near a metro line and your set. My sis actually lives in Dupont circle so ill be crashing at her place. Its so nice to be able to take the metro there and back, be fucked up, and not worry about anything.

yeah, i'm driving up from Columbia, SC for the show, but I have a friend from college that lives in Fairfax, Va right by a metro line. Verizon's not a terrible walk from the Mall so if others with a long drive have never been to DC you can just walk around there for awhile if traffic isn't bad and you get in much earlier than anticipated.
as far as moshing is concerned, i pretty much agree with previous statements. there will be moshing, but it's not the whole floor so worst case scenario a pit starts near you and you have to move back or to the side a little bit. i almost always avoid moshpits, but i'll definitely be going for floor tickets on friday if that tells you anything.
Here is a quick rundown of the commute for out of towners who are coming to the show.
If you are taking Amtrak, take a train that goes to Union Station in DC. At Union Station there is an Amtrak Station and a Metrorail station. When you get off at Amtrak go to the Metrorail station. (Before the week is out I will post detailed directions from the Amtrak drop off point to the Metrorail station.) Once you get to the Metrorail station, go to the Farecard Machine which will be the big orange and black machines with the white writing. All you need is a $2.70 farecard. This will get you to the venue and back to union station. (SO DON’T THROW YOUR FARECARD AWAY)
At the Union Station Metrorail station you are already on the line you need to be on. Catch a Red Line train in the direction of Shady Grove. You will only be going two stops away to the Gallery Place-Chinatown Station. (The Metro ride will be 5 minutes tops) Get off the train and follow the signs to the Verizon Center and or the throngs of donkeys wearing Tool/APC/NIN t-shirts. After you put your farecard into the gate to exit, put your farecard in your pocket and go up the escalators. You are at present under the arena. At the top of the escalator go through the opening to your right, make a left, turn the corner to your left, and you are at the side of the arena where the entrance is located. Walk past the scalpers, go into the venue, and prepare to be whisked away to another place. In order to get back to union station catch the same red line Metro train, but this time in the direction of Glenmont. Here is a Metrorail System map: (The red line is in the shape of a funky letter "U". The Union Station stop is at the bottom right hand side of this "U")
The Arena always has a ton of cops around, especially during concerts. I had dinner down there with coworkers before I went to a Deftones show a few months back (My coworkers were going to see the Coldplay show at the Verizon Center :barf: ) and the cops looked like a small army. There are a ton of bars and places to eat right around and some in the Verizon Center, so traveling to a shady part of DC won’t be a problem.
Hope that was helpful. If you have any questions just PM me.
Mr. Dayne, thanks a lot man that was really helpful, any tips on hotels to stay in? Id want something that you could walk to the sights on the mall, White House etc. How close is it to the White House, from that map it looks real close, like walking distance to Smithsonian? Again, thanks a lot!
Interesting. Looks like the floor may be "reserved" meaning there will be seats? I don't know. I would expect the next two ticket price levels to be the lower level "bowl" and the upper level "bowl" respectively.
Combined this information with the Ticketmaster instructions to review the "End Stage Chart" which includes floor SEATS vs. the "End Stage 2 Chart" which is General Admission looks like people are going to be sitting...
I called the venue this afternoon, and floor seats and 100 level seats are going to be the $55 tickets. The back 200 level seats are the $42 ones. And the rest are the $30 seats.

i spoke to the box office as well, asking if i had a better chance of getting tix at the box office tomorrow rather than ticketsheister. she said it was the same either way, first come first serve.
is there a ticket pool going on here? if so, can i get in on it?

Yeah, I went to the NIN show back in November too, and was surprised at how tame it was. I've walked around this area many nights with my friends, and I'd say it's one of the safer parts of the city.
And I too am upset about ticket sales tomorrow. I'm gonna be at work all day, with no internet access. Does anybody know how to order over the phone, or if people can still do that anymore? I don't know what I'm gonna do if I can't get a ticket. I've been waiting for them to come to DC while I was there and it's finally happening!
Hoo hoo just got my ticket. Was hoping for floor but wound up getting Section 105 Row M Seat 10 on the Main Concourse level 1. I have been waiting for these tickets ever since Upper Darby, PA. Man that was fun...can't wait to see them again!
Whoo! I got section 112, which I think is pretty good (according to the ticketmaster seating chart!) That was the first time I even was able to get tickets online. Most of the time they sell out before I can even connect. I've never been happier!
i should add that if anyone with floor tix and wants seats, mine are section 201 row a seats 1 & 2, so they are the best in the section. they're at the $55 price level, so i'd be open to a trade.
