Just had a thought this morning in the shower of all places.

Could the song sort of be about his mother??

Now The Benevolent sun could be her light, wings 1+2 are filled with lights referrences to her.

10,000 days speaks of JMK as one who surely saved a life and Jambi seems to me to be filled with all these pretty negative things like falling in love with the dark side, begging like a hooker, tempting the devil etc.

So all in all Jambi could be MJK reflecting on his past life to the point where JMK's condition opens his eyes and brings him to peace with himself.

Maybe the Szukalski sculpture, called The Struggle, on the cover artwork represents his inner struggles and the eagle is JMK. So Justin is about to release the eagle, on the next pic it sits on the sculpture, maybe she was the reason MJK came be at peace with his inner struggle.

And in this I think he is talking about "us", the fans.. I saw a post that talked about the opening lyrics and Maynard being the on the Kings Mountain view (the stage) and basically the song being about his fame and fortune but would give it all away for his son... or something.. Anyway, in this sense I think the ending lyrics I suggested would be approriate. Telling us to save our praise and leave him alone. Just a suggestion.

From hearing it live, I definately know it's "Here from the king's mountain view", i know that he says "Damn my eyes, Jambi eyes", then i'm unsure whether it's damn or dim after that. And finally, I am pretty much certain that it's "Damn/Dim my eyes if they should compromise a fulcrum want and need divide me then i might as well be gone".

I think it's hilarious that so many people think it's "Jambi" or "Jambi eyes".

If the title of the song wasn't Jambi, nobody would think he was saying anything other than "Damn my eyes".

Your entire logic on it not being "jambi eyes" or "jam bi eyes" is based on your interpretation of the song and that it doesnt make sense to you that they woudl say that. It certainly cant be based on what you are hearing. I distinctly hear the J and the B on their reflective syllables.

i still think it is possible to be, or to feel, "Jambi-ized." like baptized or solarized. that is what i hear, and it makes a little more sense than "Jambi eyes," and a lot more sense than "Jambi...." which leaves out the "S" or even "Z" sound that is definitely there. the "ed" sound is faint, but there.

by the way, try and listen to the lyrics at a moderate level of volume. this is true with most music, but especially TOOL. there is a point where, if played too loud, the voice and the instruments muddle together. maybe even walk into another room while listening. some sounds become much clearer. just trying to throw out a helpful suggestion.

i really dont hear the ED part at all i hear the end ringing out be it eyes, i, or whatever and the s or z is very possible but i think it may just be the way hes enunciating may add the s or z that isnt actually there especially because the line before it has it.

Also, the term "Damn my eyes" is quite common... I'm not sure what "Jambi eyes" is supposed to mean, but it's quite easy to mix up the J/D and B/M palate sounds, especially when you're dealing with accent and emphasis.

Actually I hear "Damn my eyes, damn my eyes, dim my eyes". I've heard people shout "DAMN IT!" with the 'd' sounding slightly like a 'j'.

This is a song for his Mother and his reference to a dividing river in using Jambi is a metaphor for his internal conflict between his love for his mother and his mother's unending faith in God while living all the while an excruciating debilitating aneurisym for 10,000 days ( about 27 years) and his choice to deny that very God, and his ability to profit from it quite nicely, which is evidenced thru out his music. Maybe his sight of her undaunting faith thru such a painful reality has made him reevaluate his own beliefs therefor pulling or dividing him between the life that gave him fortune and fame of a "sultan" and the wish to be changed by his mother. He states he would give up this life of "evil" and "dabbling" gained fame if he could just have her back, I believe he further reveals this true nature of his feelings of deep devotion to and love of his mother in Wings 1 and 2, but in the "divide" he exposed his aggravation at her God in APC's Judith.

He wants her to "Dim" his eyes as if to say Ignorance is Bliss in the Divine and that his knowledge of the world and his perception of it's reality is the cause of his lack of Faith in his Mother's God.

Again here he shows he is conflicted, this time with the church rather than God himself. He doesn't want to hear the ignorant dribbling of the Church.

Sorry, but I have the live version from the Seattle show and it's completely clear he's singing "Dim my eyes" x3. I never here a Da for Damn or Ja sound for Jambi...it just isn't there. I think everyone is trying too hard to come up with a connection and make sense out of the title of the song. If there is a connection, I'm very sure it isn't in that part of the song.

I'm happy to say it's "dim my eyes", I personally think it's "damn my eyes" twice then "dim my eyes".

I think the problem in here is people read the lyrics first, and then listen second. Once you have something in your head, it's too late...your brain will do anything to make you hear what you are thinking...

Um no, I listened first and I thought it was "found", which rhymes with "down." Considering he's rhyming throughout most of this song I think that's a perfectly valid interpretation.

I like the idea that it could refer to the demon Legion and would make sense if the song is about him wanting to deny the dark side.

You like the idea that it could refer to demons but that doesn't mean that it does.

I think it's "Silence leech and save your poison.", I prefer this because it doesn't require knowledge about an obscure moment in Christian mythology where Jesus casts demons out of a man and into a herd of pigs. Also because it sounds like that is what he says. Also because it semi-references Ticks & Leeches.
