i'm checking out collectiveunconscious.org, and the setlists from the lateralus-era tours were just ridiculous. many nights got nearly the entire album, plus gems like h, eulogy, pushit, sober, opiate, prison sex otrm, 4 degrees... i remember one set that had lateralus in its entirety (yes, ticks included) as well as pushit and some other awesome stuff. i think a boot of the show was up on google vids for a while. man, i wish i were a tool fan back then.
i guess i'd love to see something like
third eye
stinkfist
new song
h
jambi
ticks and leeches
the pot + video debut
pushit
intension
right in two
aenema
that's reasonable, right?... right?
:(
Those were heady days. I was at the Miami show for Ticks and I believe that was the second (possibly first) time they broke it out. They said it was by special request (from Mike Patton I believe.)
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

Like the list, but I'm 99.9999999% certain we will not hear a new song. However, with the last tour I did catch a few new riffs, i.e. intro Vicarious. Also, a couple of the final shows of 2002 heard the Wings riff played, so definitely looking forward to something along those lines.

The Lateralus Tours were awesome but so were the Aenima Tours. Getting to see Jimmy live was great. Having Maynard in the front of the stage dressed in costume. I remember being at the Gorge for Lollapalooza 97 dosed out of my mind and they opened up with Hooker with a Penis.

god damn epic!

I would love to hear something new, but the sad fact is that it would end up on the web within minutes.
Who cares?
I know it's because Tool wants to control how their songs are released, but fans are going to like it or not whether they hear it live first or on a cd first.
Not one person is going to not buy their cd because they heard a new song live instead of on a cd.
It makes no sense, especially in 2012.
Any chance that "Vicarious" gets dropped? I'd enjoy that song....
..........from a good safe distance away from the current setlists.

lol, all you did was switched the order and added pushit.
SHOCKING

You can never accurately predict a Tool setlist, but I'm gonna give it my best shot since we are four days away from the first show. Realistically, they are not gonna do some of these songs being constantly plugged into most of the setlists in this thread. I know a lot of them are 'dream' type lists, but get real............
I still think they may keep 'Third Eye' as an opener. Or something like Stinkfist/Jambi may be plugged in. They have made 'Forty Six And Two' a staple in most of their setlists the past few tours so its safe to say that'll stay. Vicarious has appeared constantly as well in the last few tours. Count on that track. Not it gets a little trickier. Undertow as an album has been represented with one song nearly every show. It's usually been Flood or Intolerance....maybe both. Lateralus is another close to guaranteed as Tool gets lock to be included this tour. The next two tracks are the 'toss ups'. We could get The Patient/another Lateralus tune(Parabol/Parabola?). Or we'll get something like 'Right In Two' or 'The Pot'. It wouldn't be a stretch to say 'Intension' either. And the set closer has normally been Aenema.
Third Eye
Stinkfist
Jambi
Vicarious
Forty Six And Two
Intolerance
The Patient
Flood
Intension
Lateralus
Aenema

I'm starting to hate 46 & 2 and Vicarious. Enough. Change the Aenema track out for H. and the 10K Days track out for Pushit. Beautiful.
this.
Vicarious really really isn't one of their stronger songs
and as much as I truly love 46&2, I think I've heard it everytime I've seen Tool live, dating back to 2001.
I'd love to hear pretty much anything else from Aenima but 46 & 2 or even Stinkfist. H or Eulogy or Pushit, I'm pretty sure the crowds would go apeshit for any of those.
I agree with everything that's being said. The good news is 46&2 has been rotated out a few times recently.
I'm very surprised to see the absence of "You Lied" on all these "realistic" setlists. I'm fairly confident that it will get played, considering they busted it out down under and have yet to do so stateside.
Lastly, I think "The Pot" would make for a great opener. Maynard accapella into their most arena-rock-esque jam on 10K would be stellar imo.

I think Adam likes hs talk box, although it doesn't work all that often.

Third Eye woould be cool, but I think if I heard Eulogy I would be a pretty happy camper. I saw that in summer of '97, and haven't seen them do it live since. Easily one of my favorite tunes.
Can't wait for Boston, and can't wait for tonight's setlist to get posted.
And yeah, the Lollapalooza '97, and Ozzfest '98 shows that I attended were epic performances. Seeing their headlining shows with all the lights & lasers is a pretty cool experience, but not a single one of their headlining shows since '01 has matched the intensity I felt at each of those summer festivals. (imho)

Eulogy would be cool since I haven't seen them do it since that same tour (I think) in Seattle. One song they didn't play at that show which I haven't seen performed live before is Hooker With a Penis. That would really make my night tomorrow! Hey I can dream.
Not in this thread? This is setlist discussion. Please do post in this thread,i wanna know if i will be seeing the same setlist ive seen a million times next saturday night.
FYI: in the past toolshed has never had a spoiler free section. most people (including myself) have had to avoid the site for weeks on end before the show.
i made the changes this time around so hopefully people can still come chill and browse the live section without having to worry about it. it's an experiment. this may end up being a great idea, or fail miserably. we'll see how it goes.
