Welcome back. CA looks unlikely. It looks like if you want to see MJK perform on the west coast anytime soon, it'll be with one of his other projects.
Yeah, Puscifer is already sold old (again) in SF. Was low on dough. $55 is a bit steep. Glad to see they're rocking it and teasing some new stuff. Can't wait for the eventual goodness to come. Hope you've caught some of it whilst on the road, sonny.
Strange isn't it? We're all looking at the deeper cuts in the set. Yes, they are rare and great to see. But on the whole? Pushit is absolutely one of their greatest songs. Better than Ticks. Better than Hooker. It's a truly fantastic composition and arrangement. Seeing it live for the second and third time was very special for me.

I have to agree that this is the highlight of this tour! I've witnessed the song a few times before including Salival's Red Rocks performance and I just was estatic to enjoy the song this year! Thanks guys.
wow it amazes that people are bitching about maynard... its being discussed to death in the toledo thread. maynards a tad pretentious. he likes to stay in the shadows. people are acting like this is new or something. ive even seen people say tool needs to get rid of maynard. SERIOUSLY? there is no tool without maynard. like i said its not like these are dramatic changes or something. hes been this way for quite some time. DEAL WITH IT!

FYI: in the past toolshed has never had a spoiler free section. most people (including myself) have had to avoid the site for weeks on end before the show.
i made the changes this time around so hopefully people can still come chill and browse the live section without having to worry about it. it's an experiment. this may end up being a great idea, or fail miserably. we'll see how it goes.
You want to see why T00l is DONE? Go back to the golden age 93-2000....I saw them Ozzfest Mansfield ,Ma 1998 night1, Limestone,ME, Ozzfest 1998 Mansfield ,MA Night 2.....no repeats...ENTIRE Aenima album, almost all f opiate, some sober....Swamp song..siiiiick...Only Phish dosen't repeat songs of all the touring bands left..forgot my old e mail, name etc...i remember reading maynards suggested reading lists mintly back then, devoted 97-99 on studying every lyric, reading every book and feeding my mind,,One show a Tour is just fine..otherwise, u r a hooker with a penis

that's too bad, it's one of my favorite parts of the song, did the crowd still sing it? I don't wanna be the only one who does hah
I rmember MJK all over the stage, his energy, he mails it in now..how he looked to the sky during Aenima saying"I wanna see it all gooooooo dowwwwn, mah please wash it al awaaaaaaaaaaaay!" both arms raised in the air in his boxers...they are done...imo...they could have ruled the world, or at east changed it had Maynard put his all into this band

Couldnt agree more . My first Tool show was 2002 . And I am used to Maynard standing in the back . Why complain now though its been this way for 10 years . He does the same way with Puscifer as far as standing in the back . And remember he is still front man for Tool and if Adam Jones Justin Chancellor and Danny Carry are cool with him why shouldnt we be . I looked at some of the new live bootlegs and Maynard is killin it. Love the haircut Justin now I can see you rock.
YOU MEAN YOU DON'T FEEL EXACTLY HOW YOU DID 1993?!?!?!?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU MAYNARD!?! YOU DON'T PISS OUT TESTOSTERONE ANY MORE???? DID YOUR MOM DIE OR SOMETHING?!?!?! DID YOU HAVE A KID?!?!!? FUCK YOU EITHER WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA best reply ever but I'm sure none of that or being 50yrs old has anything to do with the way someone changes the way they perform right? I still love the band an every time I've seen them has always been a treat.

I'd think the majority would consider Aenima to be their best album. It's a shame that they've continually showcased it, yet exclude Eulogy, H, and Jimmy. I think they try to please their fans much more than people give them credit for. You hear consistent trash talk regarding their setlists, and then you go look at everybody's dream setlist and they're virtually identical to what they actually play.

I think the people who claim Lateralus to be superior weren't into them beforehand, which makes perfect sense and is totally understandable. Personally, I think Aenima was their break though.
Do you like Radiohead?
Aenima = OK Computer
Lateralus = Kid A

I like all albums and I would have to say that Lateralus is my favorite . My first Tool show was at verizon wireless amphitheater in charlotte NC in 2002 . And my favorite song of all the albums would have to be Lateralus . I saw the people from the video Schism come down from ropes and walked around on all fours bobbing there heads like a pendulum . And maynard actually spiraled out on a rotating stage . Kool as a muggggg .

I'd have to disagree. I got into them the first time I saw the video for Hush on Muchmusic before Undertow was even released. When Aenima came out, it blew my mind and it blew my fuckin socks off. Repeatedly. Until Lateralus came out, which didn't have the same immediate impact on me. But as time went on, I've felt that Lateralus is a stronger album from front to back. It's more cohesive, maybe a bit less rockin, and definitely not as groundbreaking as Aenima, but it is certainly their best all around album in my opinion.
To use the Radiohead analogy, I would say that Aenima = OK Computer, Lateralus = Hail To The Thief (which is my favourite Radiohead album for similar reasons).
Btw since 2006 these are the songs Tool has not played:
Sweat
Hush
Part of Me
Cold and Ugly
Jerk Off
GLE
Pushit Salival
Merkaba
No Quarter
Maynard's Dick
The Grudge
D/R/T
Prison Sex
Bottom
Crawl Away
Undertow
4 Degrees
Disgustipated
Eulogy
H.
Jimmy
Dont know if this is the correct thread to post this but this is kind of a spoiler. last night at the camden show I saw someone on the left side of the stage playing back up music (either guitar or bass). Anyone know what the deal is with this?

"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

Are you sure that wasn't Adam's tech, Frank, tuning/fixing one of his guitars? That's where he's usually set up.

List is pretty small tbh.
Well, it's not like they have the most extensive of catalogues. What is that, like half?

I'm glad I caught them on the Lateralus tour. A show without D/R/T is hardly a show at all...although they are doing a pretty good setlist this tour. H. is another song that seems like a "must".
This is kind of a weird question, but could anyone help me identify one of the pre-show songs? It was glitchy at the beginning with a kind of robotic sounding voice (I thought it said "bathed in white," but I've tried a lot of variations of that to no avail), and there was an acoustic guitar soloing and wanking around too. Anyone? :(

Several songs on this list that I'd really like to see live. It's a shame knowing there is a good chance it never happens.
