Reno show was about 100 mins, including the intermission. Although I would always like to see longer shows, I don't think 90 mins is a rip off at all. MOST bands play for 90 mins for their headline set. I have seen hundreds of shows, and only a handful have headliners play longer than 90 mins. There are lots of full Tool shows on youtube from the Aenima Tour that were 90 mins, and what I would give to see a show from that era! They are getting older, and if playing 90 min shows is what it takes to keep them going, then I think it's just the way the cookie crumbles.
I'm fairly certain that Reno was less than 100 mins.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

I think that Reno was around 90 minutes, including intermissions, interludes and the occasional bit of noodling by Adam. It think that a 90 minute show is the absolute minimum for a headliner charging premium prices, regardless of age with two hours being a reasonable expectation. My previous show was Judas Priest and those guys are old as hell and they still played for over two hours. Other big shows that immediately come to mind are Pearl Jam and Green Day and they played for much much longer than two hours. Having said all that, Tool has always played short shows so although I was hoping for a song or two more, I was not surprised.

I'm with you on the "I want more" thing. With their catalogue of great material, it's only natural for fans to hope for a 2-hour show. That being said, I can see how they are drained after 90 minutes considering the intensity with which they play.
it seems like the setlist is dictated less by what Maynard is physically able to sing and more what songs he's able to emotionally give a shit about. Aside from Jambi and Pushit, all the songs on the setlist are a presentation of his worldview, not a reflection on his experiences. Stinkfist, The Pot, Aenema, 46&2, Intension, T&L, Lateralus, and even Schism to an extent are all pretty devoid of personal experience and seem more to be some social spiritual remark.
I guess we'll really never see H. or Jimmy again or most of the stuff from Undertow. Think about it, even the tracks they used to play from Undertow were Intolerance, Flood and occasionally Sober. Not exactly super emotional and all of which are still applicable to the way Maynard sees the world.
I'm sorry to say that I think you are right about this. H. is my favorite Tool song, and I don't think I'll ever hear it live, which is a bummer.
However, as you already noted, Schism is somewhat personal and Pushit is extremely personal. So who really knows? Frankly, I was shocked to see Hooker & Ticks on this current setlist (not for the 'personal' reasons, of course, but just because I thought they were past those songs for good). But I have a feeling Jimmy, H. and Wings 1&2 are retired.
$75 (after all the fees) were the highest priced tickets in Tucson.
11 songs = $6.81 per song. 12 songs = $6.25 per song.
I have no problem whatsoever paying that.

Lets not break it down that way. That makes a $325 ticket for Coachella seem like the bargin of the century.
I don't expect two hour sets - 100 mins (or two more songs) would be perfect to me. I've seen them play 2 hour sets a few times so we are not talking blue sky here .
and the poster above making the Judas Priest comparison is spot on. Those geezers rocked like they were going out of style for 125 mins.

I paid $281, and it was the bargain of the century.
And let's not compare Tool to Judas Priest until the reunion tour, capiche?

I'm happy with 90 min, 100 min whatever..... I just wish they'd throw in some older stuff and not always Stinkfist, 46 & 2, Pushit & Aenema every show.
My first time seeing Tool was in 1996, and those 4 songs were played then
I have seen Tool 6 times since over the years, and guess what, those same
songs have been played every time.
I love 46 & 2, Pushit, and yes I got to hear songs like H., Cold and Ugly, Eulogy, and even Opiate back in the day...
Nothing wrong with tossing a tune from Undertow onto the setlist, at least 1.
But hey, like I said earlier, I'm wishing, not complaining, heck Maynard can come out and sing marry had a little lamb and I'd be fuckin happy!!!!!
At least they finally dropped Sober..... but I understand why some may be upset, cant please everyone, 90 mins is pretty fair for a concert, only few will go beyond 2 hrs.... just looks like a short show because most Tool songs are 6,7,8,9 minutes long.... some longer.
I always thought the visuals and effects could be the reason why the same setlist every single night, not only is it the same, but exact order too..... throw in a song like Jerk Off and that would throw everything off.... I don't think Maynard would sing Jerk Off while hiding in the back in the shadows.... just doesn't suit it.... some tunes (off Opiate, Undertow) were more get the mosh pit going, scream at the crowd right in front..... those Maynard days are over....... heck now we have seats on the floor for most shows..... which i hate!
but just my opinion..... and while i'm ranting...
"Use to be a bunch of assholes that lived in this part of the building here,
but we systematically removed them like you would any kind of termite or roach"
I've been a long time Tool fan and have always wanted to see them live. I couldn't believe they were coming to the Hampton coliseum, which is about 3 miles from my house. Needless to say I was buying tickets the second they were on sale and cannot wait until Feb 3. The set lists from the shows so far seem consistent so far and I see a lot of the stuff I was hoping they will play. I have never been the "show off" tool fan and have been in love with their music since high school in '92. Yea I'm 36, so fucking what. i'm gonna sit back, relax and take all of this show in. Maybe buy a really good bag of weed to open my mind up a bit. It's gonna be a good night.

Might want to check out tonight's...

I enjoyed it a lot, Justin's bass is really hypnotic. However, almost everybody I've talked to doesn't like, and I've numerous complaints about the crowd talking during it.

Yes, Hey Dallas/Ft.Worth, shut the fuck up!!!!!!
Whenever the show came to a quiet point you could hear the crowd just drunk talkin (or whatever poison they were enjoying) away. Non-sensical stuff.

Wow, I'm reading overwhelmingly positive reviews of the tour so far. Some people saying these are the best Tool shows they've seen in years, some saying ever. I was skeptical when I bought my ticket based on the last two shows I've seen, but after reading these my hopes are officially up!
I do agree that for the price I'm paying I would love a 120 minute set, (it would only mean 2-3 more songs!!) but I've also learned to take what I get from these guys. With what they put into their songs & stage show it's probably not fair to expect them to sit up there & pump out 2-1/2 hour sets like Pearl Jam does on the reg. There's really no comparing the two concert experiences.
The last two times I saw Tool were probably the most lackluster of the shows I've seen, but even their bad shows are phenomenal & keep me coming back!
Boston count down is on, only 6 more days!!!!

Reason: adding comment about length of concert
Guys I just watched Hooker w/ A Penis live from the Reno show in HD . Killer bootleg on another site like I think it was you tube lol . Anyhow I am so excitedly waiting on my two shows Charlotte and Duluth. Get to see this one from both sides of the stage . I am diggin Maynards PO PO outfit equipped with mega phone walkie talkie and baton . The video zooms in on MJK as the band starts to play and he walks to the edge of his pedistal and looks at Danny and Justin and grins his ass off. I got goosebumps just watchin the video . It will be even better live . Im lovin the reviews and it seems like this tour has a very good vibe . I am diggin on this one guys .
two guys sitting behind me the first night in Dallas didnt even know what intension was I thought it was a tid bit sad. That song is great its very chill but yeah people didnt seem to respect it to much. I glanced over an a dude was sitting there eyes closed really diggin it but those two guys behind me completely different story but they were also screaming OPIATE! after every song ended. I didn't have the heart to tell them the band is probably having trouble accepting your request since youre screaming it from the 400sections over a crowd of thousands of people.

After the last two tours, I will gladly take what I can get. I have no idea how his voice is holding up but I'm glad he is being a trooper on this one. One thing is for sure, we will all get Pushit. I have never seen it. I somehow keep missing it and I am thrilled that I will finally get to see it. I've just learned over the past few tours to never expect or hope for anything. If you go in with that mindset it is really hard to get let down. If we get the pot, great. If not, not gonna let it ruin my night. Just try to enjoy the night.
