I think sometimes we expect our musical heroes to stay the same as we remember them. Unfortunately everybody ages- even MJK -and the voice is often a victim of the process- especially one that was used/abused with such intensity over the years. The high notes are the ones that suffer. People were bitching about Bono's voice just ten years into his career already. I really doubt MJK is going through the motions- I am sure he'd sing the high notes if he still could be sure of hitting them. I'd rather he save what's left of his range than stand up there and sound like Peter Brady!
I am looking forward to the show very much- I became a Tool fan pretty late in the game so any chance to see them live has value to me. Last time I saw them was the Reading show BramBones mentions- and it did indeed kick ass!
Frankly, I think it sounds just as good sometimes when he hits a note in a lower octave than on one of the albums or from performances in the 90s. To me, for example, the way he has been singing the last part of 46&2 from 2001/2002 forward sounds fine to me. So what if the notes aren't in the same octave as they are on the album?
Jason- I emailed you- I have an extra ticket. Be assured I am not a "predator" from Craigslist. That was funny! I am a straightlaced middle aged guy who digs Tool quite a bit and would like a fellow fan to get this ticket since my wife can't get off work to go. Section 116 row EE. face value- for anyone who else who reads this, if Prisonschism is not interested, and you are- PM me.

Of the few shows I've been to at local arenas, the 1st Mariner Arena seems to have the best audio so far. I'm really hoping the audio is good tomorrow night...last time I took a few 1st timers with me the audio was totally garbled because of the distance to the stage and such. I'm hoping for something better tomorrow night...I've seen RATM at the Patriot Center (back in '95 or '96) and it was sweet...but I was on the floor. Eh...I'll enjoy it anyway...and hopefully I'll get a signed poster!!
For anyone going to this show tonight and possibly making it out to Hard Times...today is National Chili Dog Day, so every order at Hard Times comes with a free chili dog!! Sweet!!
Do you guys think an 8 year old is too young to go to this concert? I bought tickets for my wife and I the day they went on sale, but we have had some babysitting issues pop up. My daughter likes the few songs she has heard, and we have regular seats, so we wont be in the crowd on the floor. I think she will have a blast, I am just a little skeptical.
We saw Shinedown and Staind at MWPP a couple weeks ago and there were kids her age, and younger...
wheres your seat tonight jwb ya on the floor or got the whole view this evening?
