Hopefully the setlist evolves a little. Kinda bummed they didn't fill the 17 minute gap where they removed wings/10k days from the setlist. Pushit would be an awesome fill in that spot!
I looked, but I couldn't find anything. I suggest calling the Patriot Center and asking them about their parking during events. I am curious too, since the lots are probably used by GMU staff and students during the week.

there aren't very many places that the band would be "pregaming" in Fairfax. You can park at the Pat center all day long however, or you used to be able too. I would recommend hanging out in Arlington VA and taking the metro back to Fairfax, bout a 20 minute metro ride or so.
Sound is good at the Pat Center for all of the previous shows I've been too, none tool obviously since they've never played there.
Fuck hanging out in Fairfax, it's boring but the traffic in that particular area is manageable, if you can i'd highly suggest utilizing the Metro and taxis if you're going to be drinking and don't know the area well enough to drive.

Or if you don't want to fuck with the Metro or cabs, there's a bar called Fat Tuesdays directy across from Braddock Road and the venue. There's also a pretty decent Irish pub called Auld Shebeen and a chili and pool hall called Hard Times. If you're parked on campus, I would consider all of these places "walking distance." Disclaimer: I'm of the mind that if you have the time, everything is walking distance, so consider that as well. I'll personally be walking to the show from my house.

Auld Shebeen & Hard Times are both pretty awesome, but "walking distance" is kind of a stretch (almost 2 miles). There are a few busses that run around fairfax (CUE, look it up) though.
If anyone ends up in Arlington, I'd be more than happy to have a few beers even though I'm not going to the show. I'm probably not going to go all the way out to Fairfax though. Fuck suburbs.

Not speaking of the band "pregaming". My wife and I have met most of the band members outside then venues in the past. Danny and justin out on their bikes, Adam walking his dog. All down to earth. Never met maynard though. He always has his personal bus within the fence

you should meet me at Ragtime, by the courthouse after you get off work. I'll be getting in town about 4ish and stopping by my old stomping grounds. N. Courthouse Rd y0, down the street from 4 courts.

i hear ya dude, contrary to popular belief they've all been very cool, even mjk when i've met them. But Fat Tuesday's is the closest bar within real walking distance from the Pat Center. Dirty, cool, college dive bar. A classic.

lol....work.
I might be up in Boston next week, but if I'm not I'll try to stop by. Never been to Ragtime. Four Courts is a regular watering hole though.

anyone have an extra ticket, I live in Fairfax and went to GMU, which I would not suggest any type of pre-gamming in the parking lot, trust me.....some ok bars nearby, people mentioned hard times and auld shebeens, on thrusday night before the show will be good, since hard times has a great happy hour. let me know if you have an extra ticket. [email protected]
There are tix all over craigslist D.C.......if you dont mind meeting up with a potential predatory individual that will show you a whole new metaphor for "stinkfist".
That Hard Times place looks pretty cool....pub grub and whatnot.....do they have any food specials for happy hour?
Cheap 'domestics' (aka bud & coors), and $1 off all drafts for happy hour... usually.
Get their hot wings. They're delicious.
Great! Some friends and I are staying at the West Bestern 3 miles up the street from the Patriot Center. It looks like this place is only a mile from the hotel. We'll probably stop by there for some digestables.
yeah i was trying to avoid meeting a predatory maniac from craigslist, but at least ill be at Hard Times before
I'm sure there will be people there with extras on the day of the show.....If you live that close to the restaurant you should drive the extra 2 miles to the venue - get there a lil' early - and just keep your eyes open for people with spare tickets.

Jason- I emailed you- I have an extra ticket. Be assured I am not a "predator" from Craigslist. That was funny! I am a straightlaced middle aged guy who digs Tool quite a bit and would like a fellow fan to get this ticket since my wife can't get off work to go. Section 116 row EE. face value- for anyone who else who reads this, if Prisonschism is not interested, and you are- PM me.

I'm so stoked for this show. It feels like Christmas Eve right now!
I know....I've got tons of friends going, a hotel room right up the street, and plenty of "all natural brain candy" to go around. I've heard some bad things about the Patriot Center's sound quality....but fuckit.....its gonna be Danny and Justin bringing down the house!

I think every arena has good and bad spots for sound quality. Even arenas designed for the performing arts don't have great sound quality in all spots.

FYI, it's not a very walkable area. Take a cab or figure out how to use the CUE bus

Getting more and more excited...I know it won't happen, but I'd love it if they threw us a curveball...
If we are hoping for a little change in the set list, wouldn't we want them to throw us a
change up? J/k.
Anyway, you never know. Midway through the tour, albeit a short one, maybe they will indeed do something different. That would be pretty cool, although I do love every song they are currently playing and cannot wait until tomorrow night!

If they do cover "on the run" it would be fucking cool....have a listen to the san antonio show bootleg where they play lost keys...you can hear danny turn up a sequencer appregio that sounds a lot like that pink floyd song....lost keys would be the the perfect song to blend that into....blair alluded to it and it's name has been buzzing around on this forum.....although someone said (I think junior) that it was really obscure.....and a pink floyd song on dark side of the moon is NOT obscure by any means.
If there is really a "cover" that they have in the bag it would be sweet if they unleashed it during this show. I just hope maynard gets off his period for the show - he's been raggin' for weeks now....his enthusiasm level is WAAAAY down after listening to the SA bootleg....hes fucking the integrity and ethos of this great band built over the past 20 years!!!....it fucks up the whole show......I'm there for DC and Justin anyway, so fuck that pretentious bitch if he decides to act like one.
when i saw it was the same setlist, i was concerned...went back and listened to a show from the last run...yeah i dont care if its the same, its that damn good. went to DC and Richmond last time out and it was unbeleivable. i'm psyched...one more day. a cover would be cool, but hey, i'm happy either way, thats just icing. see ya tomorrow night

I've got a boot of one of the shows I was at in Reading, PA 7-16-07......the show itself was amazing...its not that great quality of a boot, but I can tell that they were MUCH stronger 2 years ago....comparing the boot to the feeling I got at the live performance.....maynard actually hits the notes right and does not fuck up the songs...
The SA boot reveals his attitude today........he must be bored, or just sick of it....cause he sure as hell is leaving the passion behind this "tour".
I am about to make the trek from Knoxville Tennessee tomorrow early morning to get there to see them. I am about 90% sure i am doing this thanks to Dystocia (major respect and thanks). Anyone making a farther trek than that, i think its about 7.5 hours or almost 500miles!

I guess you'll what I mean tomorrow night.
I wouldn't think he could be bored, I mean, prior to 2 weeks ago Tool haven't played a show since late 2007. I can see getting a little bored after a year or so of touring. Either way, I hope he doesn't "appear" to be bored tomorrow night. Also, when listening to some clips of shows in 2007 compared to this tour, there are times where he is singing better and hitting more of the higher notes, in my opinion anyway.
Can't wait until tomorrow! see you guys and gals tomorrow night for a mind blowing performance!
I think sometimes we expect our musical heroes to stay the same as we remember them. Unfortunately everybody ages- even MJK -and the voice is often a victim of the process- especially one that was used/abused with such intensity over the years. The high notes are the ones that suffer. People were bitching about Bono's voice just ten years into his career already. I really doubt MJK is going through the motions- I am sure he'd sing the high notes if he still could be sure of hitting them. I'd rather he save what's left of his range than stand up there and sound like Peter Brady!
I am looking forward to the show very much- I became a Tool fan pretty late in the game so any chance to see them live has value to me. Last time I saw them was the Reading show BramBones mentions- and it did indeed kick ass!

Do you have the DVD boot of the Reading show from 7-16-07??
Its one of the best of the entire 10KD tour.....find it!
