If you read the FAQ, then it might make more sense:
G34. What's "Useful Idiot" supposed to mean?
This "segue" is simply the sound of a record reaching the end of a side. On vinyl versions of this album, this track appears right at the end of the first side. If you didn't know any better, you might think that "H." had ended, and that this song was missing. [email protected] dug this info up: "The term, originated by the high ranking Soviets, referred to the Soviet citizens whose loyalty to the party was unwavering. While the top party officials were living the good life, the average "Useful Idiot" was standing in line hoping that the bread wouldn't run out. But the "Useful Idiots" never questioned their masters' actions or authority - they were perfect citizens."
That really is the most logical interpretation, no matter whose it is.
the most logical interpretation? where is the interpretation exactly? what you did was the equivalent of posting a bible quote about jesus to represent "the most logical interpretation " of a christian song named after him. useful idiot is used as a metaphor- there's more to this little snippet of audio then just the name.

It's so people can debate about it and they can laugh at them for fighting about their varying ideas, both of which have no meaning in the Doctrine of Tool.
"No, the scratchy noise meant THIS!"
"Well I heard Maynard's cat was the dj!"
"It was Adam's pigs, stupid."
"Ha! Lvl 26 dark elf ranger!"
... *cough*
Hee hee.

...wow. this was a pointless thread. and there's a Doctrine of Tool now? everyone should be able to interpret what even they want however they want. if someone wants to believe that a song is a metaphor for something deeper than it really is the good luck to the, if someone want to ignore it and wait for the next song then oh well.

Actually, not to be nitpicky, Vladimir Lenin called the western communists useful idiots : all of the ones who "believed" in communism when in fact it was the most horrible regime in history and through their idealism towards the Cause helped one of the most horrible things in history -> useful idiots.
The email quoted in the FAQ is dumb though.

DAMN YOU SANDOZ!! Now I have to completely rethink my whole interpretation of this track... and I'll actually have to think...* (although I am indebted for this bit of info)
