What? Since 2010 they have pla Ed in the neighborhood of 60-70 shows. That's including European and Australian shows. That's less than 10 shows a year on average here. That's hardly touring every year.
Also just a heads up typically the bars inside BG are cash only, not sure if this had changed but this has been the case every time I've been there. My guess is this would apply to merch as well, probably good to have cash just in case.
I rescind this statement, they were accepting cards, FYI for those going tonight.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

Except that they've toured every year since 2009.
And since then have peppered their setlist of what are arguably "must plays" for the band at this point (people keep bitching about it being the 10kdays setlist, but there is clearly a core chunk of their material that they feel best represents them as a band) with the following rarities...
Third Eye
The Patient
Parabol/a
Opiate*
Sober**
Intolerance
No Quarter
You Lied
Pushit
The Grudge
Ticks and Leeches
Hooker with a Penis
Intension
*This is obviously becoming more common in the setlist, probably to help keep it relevant for the possibility of the video being released with the new extension.
**Yes, it is a rarity. It has only a fraction of the plays that the of that "core chunk"
It's kind of annoying after all this time to read comments from fans that had a justified argument for the stale setlist in '07 and '09, but still trot that argument out every tour since when roughly 1/3rd to 1/4th of each tour's setlist (depending on length) is dedicated to playing lesser played tracks or jams and teasers of new material.

Stay hinged to Maynard's cock I don't care.
Ticks/third eye were only played every other show from 12-14
They are still my favorite band but this is very frustrating to me.

CTRL+F "Maynard" in my post.
My point still stands. Fans complained about the setlist and the band started changing the setlist up every year.
Would you rather them not play at all? Because that would've probably been a death sentence for the band if they haven't played a show since the end of the '09 tour.

If you think it's solely Maynard's fault then you're naïve. Yes Maynard has the largest influence but if you think he's putting Vicarious every tour that's funny. That song should've stopped being played years ago but because Adam put a load of money and time into the video it's going to be played every show.
Anybody get the vibe that Adam was a little irked when MJK came back late after the break? They had to hold the song while he climbed back up.
and by MJK, I mean ROBOCOP!
Yes, I noticed the same thing. Robocop missed his cue, they played the first verse instrumental without the vocals and then wound it back to start at where he was supposed to come in. Maynard did say what seemed like a joke but I couldn't make out what it was.

I actually loved that. Especially that each instrument dropped out a couple bars at a time, then they kicked it off again. I thought it might have intentional at first.

For anyone that was in the balcony last night, how was the sound?
I was 3rd row, stage right, about 1/3 of the way back. (Perfect seats IMHO) and it was loud. The bass/drums seem to be competing a little, but the VOX were in the right spot.

Round two on my way. Last night was great honestly seeing the set in Tempe and in S.F. last night was better energy in the playing imo. Hopefully a few changes in the set list and I'll be glad I got two shows on this tour.

They don't play it every show. They just have the last tour.
2. It's been stated Maynard picks the set and the rest of the band has to haggle with him to change it up

The new song? Seemed like it was a different jam from last night and Maynard sang a few verses of something. It was hard to hear what he was singing, definitely something new imo.

Yea, what I meant was they also played 46&2 tonight but was not included in the setlist in the previous post. Sweat was a great surprise, was full of energy.
I picked up on Justin kind of fucking with Maynard... Played new intro then went into schism. Maynard threw his hands up and walked away. I caught Justin grinning when he saw Maynard get frustrated. I loved this.
Junior- loved the spots during Adams Jambi solo. I was digging that.
Hung out with the people in the front of the line for 10+ hours... Got there at 10:30am and was 2nd in line. Chose to grab center rail instead of balcony b/c how many opportunities do you get to see TOOL for 10ft away. Thank god I have seats in SD. TOOL fans are the coolest and I didn't mind sitting there with everyone, but I'll be happy to show up a bit late and have a reserved seat at the next show.
Maynard's get-up was full on riot gear sans the face mask. Seemed rather liveley last night- lots of energy and he seemed rather talkative. Was able to hear his mic just fine from the front. He really went for it most of the night but let the crowd handle the end of Vicarious.
Was absolutely blown away with whatever wound up in the middle of Opiate.
New jams sound good... I almost don't want to hear anymore before the album is released.
Amazing show last night. I'll be excited to see it from a different perspective in a couple days.
You know at BG they open up the VIP sections either right before, or right after the show starts?
I got there at 8 on Wed, and 830 on Thursday, Balcony Stage Left Row 2 Wed, Row 1 Thurs. Perfect sound, great view.
Yea I've seen Tool in 6 or so different venues and BG is by far my favorite. Great sound, perfect size, easy to access location, love the GA throughout the venue.

They did not do this for the center VIP section but after intermission security basically checked out and tons of people snuck in.
