I loved every minute of this show. Thanks Maynard, Adam, Justin and Danny and Junior and crew for an incredible concert experience.
I thought the sound quality and level were excellent. I know what to expect with the low vocals, but I was pleasantly surprised that I could hear the subtle intonations of Maynard’s voice during Pushit, Lateralus and Aenima. I can’t help but laugh and shake my head in disbelief whenever I watch Danny creating his amazing rhythms like a mad man. The only disappointment in the show was that it had to end. My ears were ringing at the perfect level afterwards. A happy ending for them after that pounding sonic massage.
This is a first class venue, definitely no hockey rink. Due to a very fortunate stroke of good luck, Mohegan Sun’s ticket racket paid off for me. The morning of the show, a non Tool fan relative was comped two tickets for primo seats in section 15 just to the side of the stage, 5 rows up from the floor, and she gave them to me. The day tickets went on sale, I was first in line at a Ticketmaster outlet and managed to get nosebleeds just before an almost immediate ‘sell out’. Then on the night of the show, scalpers at the door were getting way below face value. I guess this all makes sense to a casino.

I realize this is not a review, but I'm hoping it can be allowed to stand as the source seems like the best place to offer this info.
There are several flaws to this story:
1) the band have been staying in NYC since after the Boston show and have not had hotels at or near the venues this past week while in the Northeast. The crew and associated busses would have been the only ones near Mohegan Sun.
2) the band don't use their real names at hotels, so the GM wouldn't be instructed as to who "Maynard" is, nor "Adam", "Danny", and "Justin".
3) the idea of using hotel employees to keep the band separated is absurd. They're adults, not rival gangs. If they were really having a problem like this the bands management would simply put them in different hotels. It's unrealistic.
4) Maynard hasn't travelled by bus since around 2007. I believe he's talked about that in an interview, in that he has trouble sleeping on a bus and prefers to fly from city to city. So, separating the buses is out.

Apparently, some of the crew was impersonating the band and having fun with my friend who IS the GM where they stayed. Or, he completely made everything up. He is not a fan of Tool, nor would he know them if he saw them. It was not my intention to spread a malicious rumor. I was merely stating what I was told, believing it to be truth as he had no reason to lie to me. As a longtime fan, I just wanted to share this info with other fans who care about the future of Tool as I do. I'm glad Junior set the record straight and I apologize for my misinformation. We all make mistakes. I will stick to reviews from now on.

So I stayed at the same hotel the band did the night before. I know the GM well. He said the band was really nice and chill. But the hotel management was under strict instructions to keep them and Maynard apart because he's not getting along with them at all. They were having security scope out the halls, bar, pool, etc. so Maynard wouldn't bump into the rest of the band. They even insisted the tour buses be kept in separate lots. Basically, Maynard is not happy to be touring with the band again.

I also have to put this down as bullshit. I saw the show in Vegas, and Maynard made a point of wishing Adam a happy birthday between songs. He also apologized to the fans for zoning out a couple of lines.
Everybody -- from the hardcore fan to the hotel GM -- reads way too much into Maynard's moods. Look, he's been a brooding, antisocial SOB as long as we've known of his existence. He's not going to go crawling the hotel bar walls with Danny or high-fiving the fans. I think we should all know what to expect from Maynard by now. He's dark, introspective, and probably fucked up psychologically. But this is a big part of what makes Tool Tool. If the guy puts in an honest effort to belt out the way we know he can, what else really matters?
