I like the second one a lot. Though, it could use some text in the middle. Try good-tutorials.com for nice PS tuts.

do something other than just mirror the image. anyone can do that in 2 minutes.

try playing with.
Image>Adjustments>Color Balance and Replace Color

learn how to use layers and their opacity and blending modes to make effects.
learn how to use masks

please dont just jump into using photoshop filters.
they are not your friend.
there are only a few photoshop filter that wont make your pic look like cheezy crap. (unless you know how to use them right)

some are
Artistic>CutOut,
Blur>Gaussian Blur(works well when used over the original image with the opacity down and blending mode changed)
the Distort ones (use them carefully)
Pixelate's Color Halftone and Mosaic
and of course liquify is always fun to play with

and please...
please...
do NOT use any lens flares
if you do... do NOT save the picture and give yourself a spanking.
