He's a lying cunt. He will buy the album the first day it comes out and will continue to see them live every chance he gets. I get that he's just venting, but it's high time Tool fans like him stop lying and admit they sold out just as hard as the band has.

Well Tool-Heads, Glen Helen was my 9th time seeing the boys and goddddddd daaaaaamn did they bring it. Impeccable sound quality at that venue (for all of its shortcomings). It had been 8 years since I saw them in a non-area setting, and The Grudge tightness was just absolutely face-melting. With no roof to catch the sound, Maynard broke through like an angelic voice from another dimension, Justin's bass tone was ethering and Danny's drums felt like they were just blasting through you like a howitzer.
I would pay $100 just to see The Grudge like that again.
The fire/circle pit right behind the seats during Stinkfist added a bit of San Bernandino flare to the whole thing. Didn't know if you'd be sprinting for the exits while the closing number was ringing out or if it would die down, but a rather surreal Inland Empire moment.

I agree with the sentiment that they are going through the motions to an extent. But they are very good motions.
I was also a bit shocked that they didn't take the opportunity to do something more unique than they did. Hell bring King Buzzo up for Stinkfist.
Even Primus busted out a greatest hits set, at least Clutch brought it hard.

While I agree that would have been cool, I must also say that none of the bands had time for a soundcheck, let alone run through a guest song.
Since the tour was in Sacramento the night before, we loaded in at 8am (earliest we could get there from Sacramento). Our normal load in is 7 or 8am for the arena shows, and that's just to get everything ready for a 4pm Tool soundcheck. The goal was to hurry and get everything set by 1pm so the sound crew could line check Tool's gear (not a soundcheck with the band, just making sure everything works), and then similarly line check Primus at 2pm, followed by setting up the Melvins in time for the show to start at 3:30pm.
On the Buzz side, I know he was planning to leave before Tool played so he could beat the traffic. Anyone who was there knows how shitty the egress situation was.
I wasn't actively looking for members of the other bands, but I don't recall seeing any of them still there when Tool was done, so I can guess that a number of them may have had the same idea as Buzz.

Totally can understand that after reading the reviews on that place. I booked it right after the confetti in Stinkfist rained down. Managed to get out in 25-30 minutes from the "VIP" lot. The sound quality of that venue is just astronomical and will be seared in my head forever. Thank you for a mind blowing evening, Junior.

Makes perfect sense, did something happen to The Crystal Method during their set?
Yeah, getting in and out of that venue is a nightmare for sure. You should have seen it in 83 for the US Fest!

I can’t say I was paying that close of attention to TCM on Saturday. I had a lot of other things going on. I thought the plan was to have him play between all the bands, but it didn’t seem like that happened.

So now we.go back to waiting. I know that Justin recently said the new album was 90% done, i wonder if he meant the instrumental parts or the whole package.

Okay, so 10,000 Days was released on April 28, 2006.
Justin stated the album was 90% done on June 28, 2017.
April 28, 2006 --> June 28, 2017 = 4080 days
4080 days / 0.90 = 4533 days
4533 days - 4080 days = 453 days
June 28, 2017 + 453 days = September 24, 2018
Justin has confirmed the new Tool album will be released September 24, 2018!

May 2nd in the US. April 28th in Europe though. I'll go with the European release date so as not to offend anyone by Americentrism. (Although in doing so I will perpetuate the stereotype of the lazy American.)

The result remains the same regardless of whether you use the European or US release date:
Okay, so 10,000 Days was released on May 2, 2006.
Justin stated the album was 90% done on June 26, 2017.
May 2, 2006 --> June 26, 2017 = 4074 days
4074 days / 0.90 = 4527 days
4527 days - 4074 days = 453 days
June 26, 2017 + 453 days = September 22, 2018
Justin has confirmed the new Tool album will be released September 22, 2018!

The result remains the same regardless of whether you use the European or US release date:
Okay, so 10,000 Days was released on May 2, 2006.
Justin stated the album was 90% done on June 26, 2017.
May 2, 2006 --> June 26, 2017 = 4074 days
4074 days / 0.90 = 4527 days
4527 days - 4074 days = 453 days
June 26, 2017 + 453 days = September 22, 2018
Justin has confirmed the new Tool album will be released September 22, 2018!

They've played some different songs on each of the last few tours, so it's good to hear them.

I think a perfect circle has a little bit of a too high opinion of themselves. Just looking at the latest ticket prices they're down to $19.50 and there are plenty of seats available...
In Philly.
Tool extra-light.
