If this is a decoy album, I don't *want* to hear the real thing. I just wouldn't be able to handle it.

Yeah.Vicarious is the single and the opening song for the fact its the most tool-esque song on the album. Enough people are bitching about them not sounding like tool, so this opening song makes the transition from lateralus to the new material a little easier. I'm loving this album more with each listen.

I would only want this to be a decoy album becuase it would be the greatest story ever told. I think most of you guys who came on board when "Lateralus" dropped were expecting more of the same and that didn't happen, so you're pissed. This is Tool. And I love it.

That would be quite a lot of time and effort wasted just to create a fake album. I highly doubt it, but it would be pretty sick to get another album on top of this.

I quite honestly like this album a real real lot. It gets better and better each time i listen to it so if this is a fake album I will be a very happy person cause if there is another album that is better then this that means I get to listen to twice the goodness.

SHIT? SHIT? This is no way shit. There are songs that immediately get you, but tracks like Wings for Marie/10000days or Rosetta Stoned will take me some months to completely explore. I am more than pleased with this album and if there really is another CD (which i doubt) that is even better than this epic album then we have to put Tool above bands like Led Zeppelin, King Krimson, Pink Floyd and others.

I love the album and i will love it even more once i am more into all the songs.
Some are really complex and no one should judge them now already!

IF, this was any sort of decoy, I would guess it's just mixed differently than the real album. The thought of them spending a year on a decoy album is absurd.

Everything Andy King says, matches with how this album sounds. They definately wouldnt go overseas to promote a decoy album. Nuff said

I don't think the leak is all that bad, but I can't imagine we waited 5 years for this. Plus Adam, Danny and Justin had how much time on their hands to fuck around while Mayard was being gay with APC?

Record a few practice sessions while Maynard was off, have him mumble a few verses when he gets back. and there's your leak. it wouldn't even take a week to make.

You are all too quick to judge. I see way too many of you judging the album already based upon one listen or one song. Have an open mind here. I love the album so far.

As far as the decoy rumor, I think it's fake. There's just too much good shit on here.

No, it took about a year. Keep in mind that EVERY member of this band works in other musical projects. So it's not like they've been in the sudio for the better part of a decade trying to design something to pacify their fans.

I think its all related to a harvey birdman episode....They found him guilty for something and put him in prison for 5 years(same as time to make this album) and then gave him the death penalty(this album), and right when he was in the electric chair thinking it was all over(may 2nd when we are still thinking this is the real deal) they flipped the switch and it turned on all the fun(the real album). It was a suprise birthday party for him. He says "you put me in prison for 5 years and it was all a practical joke?" then they all just start laughing. the moral of this story is, harvey birdman is a great show, tool is a great band so its true.

What if they recorded so much material that they decided they'd make it into 2 albums, and they figured it would be a real mindfuck to not tell anyone about the second one?

It'd be rediculously hard for them to pull it off. I mean, look at that interview where Adam says something about Maynard's "who are you to wave the finger" lyrics in "the pot"? They'd have to continually on the top of their game to say stuff like that and not accidentally talk about the real stuff.

Much as people would apparently like to think so, Tool does not exist in a little pocket universe where the rules of the real world do not apply. Trying to pull something like this would lead to so many breaches of contracts with record labels, distributors, manufacturers, retailers, etc that they'd be defending lawsuits for the rest of their lives. Can you see anyone going to that amount of trouble just to fool a few thousand people on the internet?

Album leaks aren't exactly uncommon these days, despite everybody's best efforts to prevent them. The simplest explanation is probably the correct one...

This whole conversation is a good reason why leaks are a bad thing. Honestly, if this part would never have leaked, and everyone would have just bought the album on the release date then there could be no bickering.

Face it, this is the album. However..............you people raise some good points. What if in fact these tracks ARE unreleased songs from AEnima to Lateralus? Fun to think about, but this is the album.

Another good point. In an old interview with Danny Carey when Adam him and Justin were just jamming didn't he mention they had like 15 new songs at the time?

I don't see how a band could get in trouble for making some songs and releasing them on the internet before their album with different content comes out. I'm not saying that is the case, I'm just unsure of how something like that would lead to lawsuits.
