True, but also true of arenas. Some of the arenas just sound so bad. I don't know that the band would or would not be willing to do it, obviously, but I doubt there's been too many live acts in history faced with the opportunity to do a stadium tour (and I'm talking single band headliner, one or two openers, not some big package bullshit) and turned it down simply because they didn't want to.

David Gilmour comes to mind. He has said in recent interviews he does not like playing Stadiums, one of the reasons he did not want to continue Pink Floyd. Almost all his arena shows for his current tour sold out the first day. And of course it was famously known about Roger Water's hatred for playing Stadiums back in the day (even though he has played them recently). He said too many people show up for the beer and the party rather than the music. But who knows if Tool will do it or not. Don't know the band personally, so obviously don't know how they would feel about it. I personally think it would be a good idea for the band to start playing stadiums. I guess time will tell.

It definitely is not good. Acoustics- nightmare. Seating- horrible. But still the last two shows I saw there were great- AC/DC and Paul McCartney. I was like 15th row center for both so not sure how it was further back. But I think it really does depend more on the band. Exactly why I don't think it would work for Tool. The problem for Tool is, other than some occasional quips from May May (that was for you embryo), the music and visuals are 100% the focus. AC/DC and Macca are way more about personality and hamming it up which seems to work for the more casual fans which comprise a huge chunk of attendees at stadium shows.

Anyway, Tool has decided playing to 50k people can just as easily happen at one of the many big festivals out there. Coachella please!

I was also at the AC/DC show but on the sides and I can tell you...it was not good.

But what U2 did at Dodger or what Roger Waters did at the coliseum? THAT shit is amazing and works great in stadiums. But tool's setup is a few steps away from U2's 360 or RW's Wall.

IMO, AC/DC's setup @ Dodger was also a very poor stadium setup - basically a festival rig slapped into a stadium.

Hm, I don't agree there. AC/DC did what they do well. And I liked the open stage with Angus/Brian constantly having to fill it up.

I saw Roger Waters at both Coachella (DSotM) and Yankee Stadium (The Wall), maybe we can agree on this- that guy knows how to fill out the biggest of venues! The Coachella show had incredible moments I still can't shake... the giant pig was attached to a rope and brought out into the crowd by handlers in butcher costumes while Animals was playing on a giant surround-sound system. Then he (the pig) was released and floated close to the stage where it hit a column of flame and flew away into the night sky. And... AND... a plane was flying overhead dropping fliers on us all the while. A plane... dude brought an actual airplane as part of his show. I still can't believe it.

I wholeheartedly agree there; I mean it's AC/DC, but let's be real here - for a stadium show you cannot compare what U2 or Roger Waters did and what AC/DC did. IMO, the stage setup for AC/DC looked generic as fuck (ooooh a big BELL during Hell's Bells!), but I guess the argument could be made that the stage setup was straight up AC/DC.

I'll tell you exactly what he was saying. That was a jab at his fellow band mates for playing a setlist with material from years ago because they haven't produced anything new in 9+ years. He's clearly tired of waiting for them to produce.

Ha. Almost.

That was a direct play on the Led Zep costumes. In the Song Remains the Same. Plant says "Does anybody remember laughter? " it's quite a famous quote.

Napster rhymed with laughter.

Not sure. Probably down in Mission Valley unless I airbnb an entire house. Ill keep you updated.

Hello Gentleman. Saw that the second show was also a show of shit ticket-wise. If it's not all a cash grab, I hope they put in the U2 infrastructure on ID/Will-Call for future tours/album release. I must have been blessed to get a ticket for me, the gf, and the pops on Saturday.

If they play The Grudge that night... hooboy...

Yes. Parted with original ticket in T and now in row 6 BBB.

I've seen the band twice at this venue. I won't sit anywhere but on the floor and close. Not because visuals or sound are bad in the uppers. And not because I think seeing Tool up close is somehow a requirement (Justin is by far the most interesting of them). But I cannot sit down for Tool... at any point in the show. There will be many in the upper sections who feel otherwise.

For night 2, I still don't have a ticket. I brought up seats during onsale today in D and B but passed for the aforementioned reasons. I could go secondary market, but waiting to see if VIP happens. Sure wish the band would make it easier on us. But VIP does actually have a lot of value. I'm just not a huge fan of the way Tool mgmt runs it.

Nice awesome you got the bbb section! I prefer the standing area as well but the woman is on the short side so we usually switch off on shows (seating, standing, seating ect.) Didn't really have a choice in this one just glad i got what i got, not horrible seats and 4 of them together

Did vip phoenix and was 5th in line which equalled 5th from the far left. Was a little annoyed from that especially have been being at the venue like at 9am thinking it would give me a prime spot for the show. Everything else was stellar about the vip though

Anyone familiar with the sections at Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie? I've been there before but sat way in the back during those 2012 shows. This time I'm in the front section but all the way to the left (105). It says obstructed view. I'm hoping for a good view of Adam from there while MJK might be out of site a bit. Any insight?

I always buy tickets for these things last minute-if it's a big venue. Tickets go back on sale and they are better seats. Also stub hub asses dump tickets for cheap last minute. I shouldn't be telling y'all this.

Uhhh, this is not a secret. Anybody that goes to a lot of shows, knows how ticketmaster and venues operate.

It's not easy getting tickets to a concert, where there is a high demand for tickets. 100,000 people want to go see a show at a venue that holds 20,000 people...in the end lots of people get angry or depressed because they couldn't get tickets.

But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing, I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind, I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard

*rocks out*

I ended up with some weird-ass corner seats in Atlanta. If anyone's going to be tailgating, hmu.
At the Austin show last year, a dude was rolling around on a skateboard playing any song you wanted for a dollar. Ended up trading three songs for some rather suspect blotters out of a tweaker's fanny pack.

Considering all of the first wave shows sold out in no time, I wouldn't be surprised to see "gap shows" announced this week. Maybe another week for any shows extending beyond the dates already announced.
