Correction,...11 shows....but I feel like im missing one somewhere between 2007-2010

Adding a new part to an old song just seems like a really strange exercise to me. The extension to Opiate was nice and all, but I'd be pretty underwhelmed if it turned out recording this was the reason why the next album has been delayed a bunch of years.

Anyway, I don't believe the Opiate extension is something they'd record, let alone what Joe is doing there. I don't believe the new album is ready yet either, though I'd happily be proven wrong here. My guess is they have some live stuff being mixed for release.

I dont think Martin Luther King would play Opiate, either. But Maynard seemed up for it last year.

years ago I would have told you a live DVD or audio of a concert would be impossible. however recently both Puscifer and APC released full-length live DVD's, so this is probably what is happening.

I doubt it's a Live CD and/or DVD, personally. But it seems we might find out "relatively" soon. I wouldn't mind if it was.

Actually, I won't mind just about anything from this band at this point, so long as it's a release centered around their music and NOT a Limited Edition something-er-nother with a fatass price tag.

I agree 100%. I was just saying that IF they were mixing that as part of a bigger release like Salival 2 then I would hope they would include some rare oldies, like Prison Sex with the added verse.

I always thought that Tool would release a live dvd /blu ray set at the end of their career that spanned their whole career. I would definitely enjoy like a 5 or 6 disc live box set.

Has anyone considered the possibility of a small surprise for Record Store Day? Considering their undying support for independent record stores and the experience of purchasing a complete piece of artwork, I'm surprised this hasn't come up here.

I agree that they should do something for RSD, but as it's RSD right now and we've heard nothing I imagine it's unlikely this time around.

I realized that when I posted. Would have been quite the crunch to get something out in this time-frame anyway.

What are some examples of their undying support of RSD?

I said independent stores. Not RSD itself. And..."undying" was an aggressive adjective to use there. granted. But...I suppose I have two examples:

First, the thought came from Tool's only releasing physical copies of their music. Seeing as most (all?) major music distribution is online, and Tool's catalog doesn't legally exist online anywhere, that would be a form of support for such stores. Releasing a new limited something-or-other for Tool fans to run out and grab just didn't seem that far-fetched to me.

Second, I met Maynard the day before a Puscifer show in Denver at a record store (coincidentally titled Independent Records), who was buying copies of his own V is for Vagina.

While I do remember purchasing V is for Vagina at Best Buy, and all Puscifer and APC stuff is available on itunes, spotify etc...maybe MJK wouldn't be the one to advocate for such a release from Tool. So maybe the examples don't hold much water. Maybe I was full of shit. And seeing how it's RSD now...and there's nothing...I was wrong anyway.

"Not giving a rats ass" is probably about as inaccurate as "undying support". And this seems like one of the dumber arguments I've read about here. I think we can all agree it would be cool if Tool did something for RSD.

Not really having to do with anything, but the the first "record" I bought was Ozzy's double live album 'Speak of the Devil.'
Check out the cover, Ozzy with blood coming out of his mouth; and the songs... when your you're like 9 or 10 'Black Sabbath' (the song) seemed like the most evil thing in the world.

And anyone else old like me, will catch the humor in that last interview with Adam about the lawsuit being settled, and the presiding judge's name was Randy Rhoads.

Ha! Nice. I spent hours decoding the Runes on the cover. Yes there is a code on the SOTD cover. I loved that record until I heard the original versions and realized how badly Brad Gillis butchered those songs. Then I later learned that he supposedly only had 2 weeks to learn them.
