i've high-reasoned my way to an idea that i think is actually pretty good. imagine that, in response to his mother's death, maynard decided to portray, on tool's next cd, examples of things he felt in his id, ego, and superego. its pretty well-known that he's into psychology so it fits. anyway, you have to buy into the "speech to maynard from judith" theory to buy into this...just warning you.
so jambi is the id. maynard wishing to a genie on pee-wee's fucking playhouse that his mother would sing these words in heaven to him whether he could hear it or not..."here from the king's mountain view..." all the lyrics make perfect sense i'll show it:
here from the kings mountain view: King of Kings
here from a wild dream come true: this is maynard's mind, christianity is a wild dream
feast like a sultan i do on treasures and flesh never few: heaven is pretty damn nice
but i would wish it all away if i though i'd lose you just one day: pretty obvious
pray like a martyr dusk dill dawn...all night long: thats what she did all her life
tempted the devil with my song: maybe she's considering selling her soul to save maynard's...
and got what i wanted all along: heaven maybe but i dunno about this one for sure
but if i could i'd wish it all away...one more day: obvious
damn my eyes...might as well be gone: deciding not to do deals with the devil and struggling with the decision
shine on forever shine on benevolent son: final goodbye from judith
breathe in union: makes sense
silence legion (demons/satan), save your poison, silence legion stay out of my way!: this line fits so perfectly after judith deciding to stay righteous and not do deals with the devil...it makes sense that she would too because maynard loves her for her righteousness
keep in mind that this is maynard showing us his id, or wishful thinking, its a fantasy
wings and 10000 days are all about rational thought and reasoning, he's just being straight and logical while still memorializing her, its the ego
and then, if you buy the theory about the pot, its the superego
no wonder it comes after vicarious, there's lots of irony that he then shows you a detailed picture of his mind during a tragedy

You really think that Maynard wants to be on Pee-Wee's Playhouse? Interesting.

Not a terrible thought, but there's an inherent flaw: If Judith had the kind of faith she apparently had, then arriving in heaven would be completely expected. I mean, that was her plan, not a wild dream; if she had that faith.
According to Maynard, Judith was a Southern Baptist. If you're not familiar with this sect, you should know that their conception of heaven does not include pagan rituals and bacchant orgies. So, the feast like a sultan I do on pleasures and flesh never few doesn't work either. Sorry.

Agreed, I "have my own kids", which helps me to see Jambi is not about MJKs'...I like the thought that Maynard wants his Ma to "sing this for him from heaven", but I would shy away from trying to be soo specific in your interpretations. That which I quoted would be good, needing only a sprincle of "lyrical evidence", imagination is your friend .
Peace.

^Exactly right. I was loving this theory until you went through bits of Jambi, which really made no sense (such as Judith selling her soul....).
