here are my first two paintings, i used acrylic on media board. my first painting one 3rd place, out of i think 500 people, so i was happy about that, the second painting i did after the competion, but i only had an hour to paint and draw it. so thats why it looks really sketchy, and my camera sucked alot of the color out of the paintings, anyways enough of my excuses lol, here they are
why does the character in the first painting not have a penis?
i don't know what you were going for in the first painting in terms of style, but outlining areas of the body with black brush strokes looks really amature. and unrealistic.
You should never have to use black, but instead mix and tone down colours to have a really dark colour. Black sucks the eyes attention to it, and away from other parts of the painting.
i dont like painting sexual organs i've never been into that, and i know your right about outlining the areas of the body with black, but then agian i am an amature. and i really wasn't going for a realistic look, and thanks for the painting tips, i appreciate that.

The only way to achieve a realistic look is to mix black in with the other colors. Otherwise it looks like a rainbow.
