When I fall asleep in Lala Land
I'm an overweight maroon baboon
Wandering too far away from home
Wound up in this thick, foggy lagoon
Terrified, but somehow not alone.
See, I have thoughts to keep me company
And stacks of wood to give my head a place to lay
While you, my image, keep me from being lonely
I sit up, embrace the wood and build a boat
And start our journey by sailing away.
For in my mind I clearly see you
So close, but not nearly close enough
I paddle from foggy lagoon to the hazy bayou
But we stop due to the haze being too thick
I hop out to find a piece of peace and sanity
Strong gusts cause me to black out from the wind
The dreams your presence gives me cause pure tranquility
And so we wake both woke up, and the journey ends the same way it began.
Together, but alone.
