I bet you the last of the warm-up tour set list will be in Calgary. I mean Blair did mention US summer/fall tour not Canada, I mean you'd think they'd consider it the same, but maybe the new set will show itself after that.

Hahahaha I knew someone would bring this up. First we thought the full set would be revealed in Europe, at the start of their 'actual' tour once the U.S mini was done in May. Not the case. Then it was presumed by many that the one-off arena show ib Fresno would see a new setlist. Nope. Korea? No. Japan? No. Hawaii? No. Now the North American tour is here, with Isis on the bill, and the presumed full stage show (which, from the descriptions, sounds like a horrible joke) and STILL the same setlist. So now we're expected to believe that the new set will come once they hit mainland United States of America. HINT: don't hold your breath. If they were gonna do it, last night was the night. Not even a slight change, not even Opiate + Right In Two, not even Intension, nothing.
Ah well i ended up catching the interview last night and it was with Danny and Adam, and yes they've confirmed for the BDO. There's a second part to the interview later tonight.

As for the comment on them being "one of the most popular bands in New Zealand, and being able to sell out 3 shows here in the biggest venues easy with no opening band." I dunno, maybe these days they could. They've sure picked up in popularity over the past few years, but in the past I've had no problem getting tickets to both of the Auckland gigs i attended. And well, North Shore Events Centre is a pokey lil place and didn't seem to be that packed the second time i was there for them
Tool played 3 shows here in 01 and 02, even back in 97 they played three shows.
if you compare that to other top bands, or even bigger bands, they do far more shows here than anyone else, most bands either haven't been here, or come here for a single show every five years. this is because they like it here, they have lots of fans willing to make it worth it to do many shows. the only reason they should compromise their show and do the BDO is if they felt they could not make it worth it to do their own show. tool are a very visual, personal band, the atmosphere is important, doing the BDO will make the show shittier imo.

2 shows in 2001, 3 in 2002
they didn't do Wellington in 2001. I saw them in CHCH though.
Yes, I am very weary about the atmosphere at BDO. Where do you suggest I try to get to? Right up by the stage? Or will that suck as much as the bad sound a mile away from the stage?
Ah well i ended up catching the interview last night and it was with Danny and Adam, and yes they've confirmed for the BDO. There's a second part to the interview later tonight.
I recorded it last night and pretty sure they said it's later tonight, but i'll watch it again when i get home to know for sure.
Yeah, they may have had a few gigs in the main cities each time they're here, but the last time they were in Aucks im fairly sure it did not sell out. It was nowhere near as packed as it was the previous time i was there. Dunno how they go in the other cities, but if the Aucks gig couldnt sell out, i was thinking the Welly and ChCh wouldn't have either.
Anyway, yeah the atmosphere won't be as great as it would be if they did their own shows but i'll still be going. I've heard of a North Shore gig next year, but im pretty sure the guy's bullshitting my sister, so i won't believe that till it's confirmed in some way.
Im sorta wondering the same thing about viewing, imp.

so what if they do not completely sell out the venue?
the did THREE SHOWS! that is far more than other bands bigger than tool do when they come to NZ.

no idea, but i really, really, REALLY hope they bring Isis over with them. i love Isis but have never managed to see them live before. i'm wondering if they are as powerful live as they are on cd.

My comments were in response to "they could sell out 3 shows here in the biggest venues easy with no opening band." They didn't the last time(as far as im aware), and the gig in aucks was at a relatively small venue. Claiming they could sell out at three of the biggest venues when they weren't even capable of selling out something as small as North Shore Events seems a bit of a stretch.
But hey, im not saying it's impossible either with the new album and new fans. Especially considering a band like Foos can sell out their gigs. Bleh.
Thanks imp, checked the tape and you were right. Hopefully i remember to watch next week.
My tickets for the 9/25 Tool show say that the show starts as 8:00 PM. The Isis official website says that the show starts at 6:00 PM. Which is correct?

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I think I've figured it out,...they will start the new setlist with Vegas,..because it's the 2nd time they've played there on this tour meaning Oakland will get a new setlist too!!!! :)
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Well if that be true, then they better do it for the Marysville show the night before. While it doesn't matter too much to me, I'm just there to see Tool (which is my first, even though I've been trying to see them for years now), sure seeing a new setlist would be cool, but it's my fault for coming to this site and looking at the setlists. I'll be happy with anything though.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Is anyone from down south going to drive to see a show? We are driving up from Florida . . . 12 hours to Ohio for the 9/21 show. I've been wanting to see them for years so it is worth it imo, and now I am finally at the point where I have some vacation time and I don't have to worry about school.

I'm sure you will be,..I mean I went to Coachella,..loved it and then 2 days later in Oakland at the Paramount with the same setlist ,..loved it,..but after seeing the same setlist twice this year already, I,personally ,would like to see something new
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Its Tool's Singles and greatest hits tour...Summer 2006 coming to a city near you pissing off older fans that dont want to hear just the fucking singles. I dare not utter the word sell out when speaking of tool but I an guarantee if they dont change the setlist for the U.S. shows I will be thinking it hardly about how they should never make another album again....I mean why need to when you can make so much money touring off all your great singles!! blah

Does anyone know if tool plans on playing a real arena concert in san diego? I've been holding out for a local show, but im starting to wonder if it will happen.
Also does anyone know what the Los Angels shows are like, i know sandiego is full of fucktards who want to pound each others face in.. is LA more mellow and respectful? I may have to drive up to one of the staple center shows.

It does not look like anymore SD shows are in the offing unless they come back around next year. LA will be cool because it has reserved seating, so there won't be a mosh pit and less likelihood of a farktard on X jumping on your back during Sober. If you can make it to LA, I would recommend it. Staple's is not the greatest acoustically, but it's nicer than your arenas in SD (I've been to all of them).
