Don't be too hard on yourself Kanaduh. You can't beat yourself up over things that cannot be changed. It's all too easy to take for granted that those we love will always be here. Just let it be the reminder for you that I'm sure it is for those of us that read your post.

Hey Kurt (kanaduh). Feeling your loss. Like millermt says, don't go so hard on yourself. Get emotionally well and stay strong. We'll be here whenever you get back.

Damn Kanaduh...I'm so sorry.
As people have said, don't beat yourself up. If it's any consolation, you're someone on this forum who I respect a lot.
Wish I could do more. Unfortunately I'm just really sorry you have to deal with this, if you ever want to talk, I'm around.

That Feb news letter though. I have a feeling those bugs have something to do with the art for the new album. Especially with the two bugs hinting at a double album. Besides that my condolences to you Kanaduh and junior your job is cool as fuck.

hey guys, (my last post on this subject)
first of all, thank you all for the kind words. that was a rough night. very rough night. it's nice having places like this you can turn to in the worst of times.
for those interested, here is a youtube link to the entire funeral: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb9l...ature=youtu.be
i only post it because it's heavily musically influenced - 2 pink floyd songs among others. we figured a musician was a better option than a priest. pink floyd over God :)

I was under the impression the cicadas were very clearly representing the re-emergence of tool....considering the cicadas do something like that..lay dormant for 17 years, then re-emerge...maybe im wrong but i thought it was clear that was the "point."
The two of them hinting at a double album would be pretty bad ass....especially given how long we've waited.
One thing I personally find interesting is I don't think I've ever heard the word cicada until the past year or so, and I swear between TOOL using them as a logo and the show Silicon Valley referencing them in an episode, it's almost like cicadas are a hot buzz word in the zeitgeist. I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure I've heard the term in several instances...
It's just weird that such a specific bug can be on the lips of so many, varied people. Makes me think about that "collective unconscious" idea a bit.
Besides tool, anyone notice the use of the word cicada(s)?
Also, cool upload Kanaduh. Hope all is well.

That is quite the impression and I'll have to agree with that sentiment.

it's going to be 4-6 months before we know what happened. they did an autopsy. i highly doubt it was medical related. he was depressed and had addiction issues.
i'm sitting here, absolutely balling my eyes out, with the new song Descending playing on repeat. what i wouldn't give to take back those pensacola and NOLA shows and trip to instead visit or even just call my dad.
sorry. some of the people i respect the most are on these forums and I just had to get this out. the funeral is tomorrow and I am trying to write a eulogy. all of my friends and family are amazed at how "strong" and "mature" i've been dealing with this. i've put up a nice facade this week,, but tonight it's all crashing down. this fucking sucks.
i know things will get better. but jesus fucking christ - this is going to haunt me for years.
sorry again. i will probably delete this eventually. just had to get this off my chest to somewhere that might let me feel just a little bit better.

Turned on wings/10000 days and have it a listen in honor of your dad. It made me reflect on the relationship I have with my absentee/addict father, wondering how I'd feel in that situation. I often turn to that Cat Stevens song "cat in the cradle" to remind myself that our distant relationship is a product of his choices and better decisions could STILL change some things. You can't carry that weight, man. We're all here for ya, brother.

Double album would be a lot to digest... But for some reason I think the theory of an opiate video with a couple extra goodies later this year and a full album next year sounds more... Realistic. OR they could just wait another year or two and drop an amazing amount of material all at once.
Now I don't know what I'd prefer... But it doesn't matter. This ain't about me, clearly. It's about them, and I'm just lucky enough to watch.

Hey Kanaduh-
So your story really hit me in the feels yesterday. I wound up calling my dad and telling him your story. It lead to a conversation about our relationship and how careless he seems to be and I finally was able to tell him about the resentment and anamocoties I have about his approach to parenthood. I don't know if it'll change anything, but after 30 years I finally told him how I feel- we'll see if he does anything with it or not.
It sounds like you and your pops were closer then me and mine, and I'm not trying to compare or draw parallels. Upon reflecting, I felt like I wouldn't have cared if I were in your shoes, like I would've rather been at a TOOL show anyway... And that hung on me so I had to do something about it. I really feel this will turn positive for me , though it's still a bit heavy and raw, but I wanted you to know you've had a positive affect on a strangers life- something a therapist has only tried to do.
Thanks, man. Keep your head up.

latest MJK interview doesn't bode well for an album in 2016. but hey, if they decide to do another 10-12 shows sometime in Q3 or Q4 I'll still kick them a few bucks ^_^

Yeah I didn't like the interview, but I also don't really trust MJK to always tell the truth to the press.

I think many of us had given up on a 2016 well before that MJK interview. It's a one line quip with no real context, so it doesn't really give us much to be pessimistic (or optimistic) about.

Maynard has normally been pretty open (and blunt) with the press, so I'm not sure I agree with this statement. He tends to be more of the realist in the group while the other three (well Adam and Danny anyway) are the ones who've promised progress in the past.

Eh, it's more like when Jordan suited up for the Wizards.
Also, Mike... give Galileo a listen. For extremely "Puscifer Allergic", this is probably the first track that is consumable. It might make you feel a little less sad.

WTF? Is this for real? I can't tell if he is trolling us fans (for sure, yes) or that this is a real thing he's doing in order to delay working on the album. Maybe he thinks if he get hit in the head enough it will unlock some new creativity synapses. That or a hospital stay will guarantee the album is not released this year. He's probably betting on both.

Expect 3 more Puscifer albums to come out before another Tool album does.
2 more years until the new and longly awaited Tool album to come out seems realistic. April 2018 is my guess.

You guys are cute with your continued fantasy regarding a new Tool album. Set your mind at ease and understand that it isn't going to happen.
Then if it does, it will be a pleasant surprise.

! "With that said, he’s no stranger to controversy, especially with his latest prediction that by the year 2016 all June Bugs in the U.S. would be conceived in JULY, thus making the common name for this genus in the scarab family a misnomer. " August 2012 Newsletter.
The first one mentioning Rance Q Spartley and we can all safely say that Rance Q is merely a reference towards the new album. Such an odd mentioning of the summer of 2016... I feel it warrants some reflection. You can quote me elusiveeuphoria! I'm following my intuition on this. Let us all have faith and realize that we will have new Tool this year. I love you all.
