When I listen to this album front to back... at the end of Lateralus, I feel this ... sense of closure. Like the album has wound up, and it is the end... And then Disposition, Reflection, and Triad follow like some extravagant encore.
If the album had just nine tracks, the Grudge through Lateralus... I would have been happy with it. The addition of D/R/T is what tops it off as a timeless masterpiece and completely blows me away.

i too have thought drt could have been a stand alone release. but when on tour they usually did drt then lateralus. to me it went together really well.
yeah drt does seem like an encore to an already awesome set of tracks. id like to no more about the track since if im not mistaken it was originally written as one song.

at least the thread is in the correct subforum.
i wonder where trolling belongs...
but to stay on topic:
you're right; there is something about Lat that makes it feel self contained. I'm sure you know this already, but you can listen to the tracks in the order "they're supposed to be listened to". That makes it into an even more cohesive whole. ;)
in contrast, i feel ÆNIMA is very unstructured and has no real flow to it.
What I like is how cohesive the whole album is; how the songs fit, what the songs are about, and how they make me feel. LIke others, the Grudge thru to Lateralus is near perfect. D/R/T the icing on my aural cake. Yes, this is my favorite Tool recording.

Thank you, brother. I hope all is well.
A couple of minor snafu's have tossed a dirty monkey wrench into my garden salad. But I won't whine anymore than that.
Listening to Lateralus eased my mind.

We should ask Rolo how his X-mas was, he seemed busy too. This is no disposition just wanted to say 'Hey man.' And this...
What I like most about this album is that it plays well to any Zombie movie...
X-mas was mostly "recovering from moving out of our house". Living somewhere temporarily now. No internet there, sadly. So i'm posting from work occasionally.

Moving to our new home in march. Can't wait.
Recovery is the perfect word for what to do after moving. Eh. You don't realize how much you are doing extra and how fast things are moving along until it stops.

And you never realize how much shit you actually really have until you try packing it all, only to realize it seems like there's 4 times more than you thought there was.

Oh for sure. The packing is endless, it seems.
