Re: This album is dead.

If any Tool album is dead, it's 10,000 Days. I never truly liked 10,000 Days. To me, it doesn't have the edge like the other Tool albums. But that's just my opinion. Don't flip out on me.

Re: This album is dead.

To me, 10,000 is the least dead of any TOOL album. It has been overlooked, and really hasn't had that much play time compared to other albums. 10,000 has been out 2 years, compare that to any of their albums. Opiate is closing in on 20 years! This album has so much potential to grow on you, and if any of TOOL's albums could be dead, it certainly wouldn't be this one.

Re: This album is dead.

I've never really thought Opiate lived in the first place. So its a contender for dead album.
10,000 days was more artsy than the others, which is why it kinda got shunned by all the rock/metal fans here

If I remember this record right, isn't Lateralus one of their most complex and prog-inflected songs, if not their most so?

Dude, i asked specifically about the philosophical defintion, not the scientific.
define 'alive' philosophically.

Oh, and under your definition, fire is alive anyway, which is incorrect

Fire reproduces you idiot! How do you think that wildfire in California got so big? (assuming there is one)reproduction. Not in the sexual sense though.
Metabolize=Turn wood into ashes. (eating as it were)

Fine lets take it up a notch. Define the philosophical term 'conscious' and relate it to computers. Also include references to the 'complex machine theory'

Go on... do my homework for me.

Not even mentioning "The Patient" or "Reflection"...

what kind of reaction do you expect coming to a tool sight and calling their latest album weak??? we're all going to say, thanks for the input??? i was simply wondering why you would be here in a tool forum if you disliked what they do enough to bring it up... and yes i will be needing that permission slip...

We still like Tool--I think we're just here more now for joking around/being within the community than we are to create stimulating discussions about Tool's music.

He obviously does like Tool as he's well knowledged on the subject of their music.

only one badn i like more than Tool, thats radiohead. and the only reason is because of 10000 days and my opinion that it is weak. the subject matter is just...i don't know, on the same level as Deftones or something, and before 10,000 days, it was so much deeper, it seems to me like they just gave up on their spiritual journey.
