Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Hi guys, I've been lurking this forum for the past few days.
With hope fading that a Michigan show would happen (I think this is the first ever MI free Tool tour) I scored 2 tickets to the Cinci gig.
Section 100, Row M, Seats 33 & 34.
I was logging on to Ticketmaster at exactly 10AM and the wait to see what I had was a torturous 8 minutes. A friend on mine who is also making the trip from MI scored Pit seats, Dick! ;)
This will be my 18th time seeing Tool since 1996. I usually catch them at least once on every tour, and to this day the show to beat was the Detroit show at the former State and now Filmore Theater on the extremely difficult to score tickets to, 4 city Pre Seminal tour right around Lateralus' album release. A nearly 3 hour show with no opener and Maynard in the best mood I've ever seen, it was bliss. The only time I've ever paid a ticket *ahem* "Broker" to see the band. It was $180 a ticket, doesn't seem like the fortune today it felt like then, especially after paying over $200 for 2 tickets.
Anyway, congrats to everyone who's able to see them on this tour, who knows how long until they hit the road again.
Also, at Toolband.com, Blair has posted more of Adam's artwork, this time for a Faith No More show in Moscow, Hmmmmm. A Tool/FNM show might make my head melt, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yeah I got mine in the mail probably 10 days ago or so. I don't think stubhub would really do anything yet since the show is still over a month away. But it couldn't hurt to send an email to see what's up.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
junior, thank you again for your input on this and other sites it is always very informative and helpful. Do you think that the show in Denver at the Mile High Festival is going to be any different from the shows that are not festival shows ie (Lighting, Set length, Song choice). also do you think it will be different because it is the first show of the tour. any info you have would be greatly appreciated

For Fairfax?
Got Charlotte a couple weeks ago, but I'm still waiting on my Fairfax tix.
Tool & Linkin Park Aug. 22 in Pomona. Interesting...[/QUOTE]
Hm, the line up seems ok except I'll have to find some place to chill while Linkin Park is playing. And August in Pomona outdoors? Man, that's that gonna be a roaster! But it is Tool, so...

Kinda blows, but hey, better than nothing, and every day that passes is a day closer to nothing. Maybe there will be a stand-alone date in there too, but if not I'll have to settle for this. There is a racetrack at Fairplex, so this might be it. At least I have a buddy that lives out there.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
holy dogshit! I really hope that the setlist isn't the same. While I will still have a good time isn't it a bit pathetic that they would refuse to do it up after being off for a year and only doing a small tour? stinkfist, schism, 46&2, vicarious seriously need to not be played this time around.
hmmm my idea of a badass setlist would be..in this order
crawl away
euglogy
jerk off
jambi
third eye
rosetta
right in two
4 degrees
the pot

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Linkin Park fucking sucks, but I would love to see Alice in Chains again. Nobody could replace Layne Staley, but their new lead singer is really really good. Besides Jerry Cantrell is the reason their music is what it is. AIC is about to release a new album so you might get to hear new material from them as well. I'm really surprised Cali got a festival date and not a stand alone Tool show(maybe they still will). I would suggest taking a shit, getting something to eat, or just sparking up a conversation with someone during the Linkin Park set.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

Wow! This is what we've all been waiting for? Seeing Tool and Alice in Chains together is a dream, but Linkin Park? $80 each ticket plus fees? The Fairplex is perhaps the absolute worst outdoor venue in SoCal. After one bad Warped Tour experience there, I pretty much vowed never to return. I'm sorry, but this ghetto place is best used to service computer shows and swap meets. NOT TOOL SHOWS. Thank God I decided to just give up on waiting and got tix to Phoenix instead. Not to mention, the inland parts of SoCal in late August / early September are nearly intolerable weather-wise. Hope you like seeing Tool in 110 degree outdoor weather with absolutely no breeze or ocean influence. Have fun.

All true about AIC.
This is the worse case scenario (next to no show at all) Thank Frank I'm going to New Mexico and Chicago.

Haha I will probably have no one to back me up on this one, but Linkin Park puts on a GREAT live show. They are very entertaining and energetic, and not mention extremely technically sound. Their music translates well into a live setting. Paired with Tool might be sort to of weird, but I think many Tool fans could find some appreciation for LPs live show.

Yeah I have my tickets for both. I got floor tix for Fairfax though and I'm pretty sure you said you went for seats so perhaps that's the difference. They never emailed me, like they did for the other shows, that the tickets were printed so that could be another sign they're printing and mailing tickets at random.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I have a pair of tickets for Toronto (405 J -- Center Stage) that I would like to swap for a pair of Cincinnati tickets. Don't care where the tickets for Cinci are as long as I am in the door. I am willing to throw in some cash to even up the deal. Please PM me if interested. Thanks!

Yep, the venue is across the street from a pretty well developed mall area. I've seen plenty of folks park there and walk over. At their own risk, of course. But if I remember correctly, parking is free at this venue. Or I should say, you don't have to pay any MORE for parking when you get there.
As far as tailgating is concerned, it seems to happen in the venue parking lot, as well as in that mall-ish area. I guess it depends on what sort of "tailgating" you're looking to do. Hope this helps.
So I threw out my common sense and put my sister in charge of scoring a ticket for me to the Cincy show, since I was gonna be at King's Island that morning. Result?
Seat location: section GA PIT
Total Charge: US $ 103.55

Damn it all. I could still kill my older sister who f-ing weasled out on a year-long promise to take me to the "next" Lolla tour, which turned out to be that 1993 tour. My fave bands, but none that SHE gave a shit about, so noooooooooo, she wouldn't go! DAMN IT.
Anyway, back on topic. I was able to physically get my first look at PNC Pavilion in Cincy. I was up there on Saturday night for a show at Riverbend, and checked out the open air pavilion where Tool will be. Looks like a real intimate place, and could really be something special. I almost wish I was in SEC 101 instead of the pit, but whatever. See you there...fingers crossed that it's not hellishly hot that night. I'd settle for pouring rain, personally, for some killer atmosphere.

I gotta admit, the AIC part of the line up seriously interests me. Layne was such a waste. It's a downer to think about all that talent gone up in smoke.
On a side note- my company hired Jerry Cantrell's side project, Camp Freddy, to play at our annual Christmas party a few years back. Terri Nunn from Berlin sang Man In The Box with Jerry filling in for Layne's part during the verses and Terri nailing the chorus. I was pretty much in heaven between the music, free booze, and dynamite looking girls, including Carmen Electra roaming around in some tight, nuthin outfit. :)

so anybody have linkin park hookups. their fan club is having presales tomorrow for the epicenter festival at 10am local time. they will get first crack at the tix.
pay only $15 to become member, pretty much just pay for the benefit of getting first crack, save $10 per tix through their sale, and probably not get left out from a tix. Hmmmmmm...watch all think???

I say wait, i mean, it's a festival. Gonna be hard to sell out. Denver and NY still have tix available right?

Yeah, sometimes I find it really hard to take so much AIC because it literally makes me depressed to hear/feel the things Layne was going through as a person. It's like listening to a dying person going through their discography. It should be interesting to hear their new stuff with Duvall and the mood to it!

True dat. but apparantly this is gonna be LP's only north american show this summer, and they sell out huge venues, throw chains and then presumably be Tool's only LA show??? I dunno man...im guessing this jhit might sell out pretty quick.

Forget that shiat Angel. GA afaik and there's gonna be plenty of room. Unless there's something special about this show seating-wise I don't know, regular sale on Sat should be fine. And I will see you there!

On the second part: I hate you.
Yea, Jerry had Macy Gray do the Pretender classic Brass In Pocket and Doug Fieger sang My Sharona which rocked it hard. Damn I was going apeshit that night.

I also saw on ticketbastard that supposedly the KROQ presale is wednesday. I signed up on their site for that. But looking all over there sight there is no mention of anything. Chances are, it won't sell out. But I'd rather not take the chance though.

Jerry's other side project Boggy Depot was much more bad ass!! Of course getting to see that at a small party, well you can't beat that.
