i was bored so i opened itunes and right clicked on Lateralus to "get info" and noticed that the BPM section said "192." i didn't write it there and i'm 90% sure i ripped it straight from the CD (rather than TPB). i noticed that 10k days also has the same thing written in the BPM section for each song. i wonder if this means something?
reminded me of once when i was playing 10k days in my car (from the actual CD i got from Best Buy), i noticed that my radio said the track title (for what i think is Lost Keys) said something like "Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) (main version)"
my radio reads a separate string of data for it's track listings than programs like itunes do. my radio usually just says "Track 1/2/3/4/x" (while itunes actually lists the actual name) unless the artist (or CD burner) wrote some extra text data for it to read. 10k days is the only Tool album that displays track titles on my radio. idk why this is and i'm still trying to figure it out.
but it makes me wonder if they hid anything inside the CD, like an encrypted secret message or something...
or maybe i should just go to bed.

Certainly adds a more uplifting tone, given the current atmosphere.
Let's jump right to this meaning they hit the studio Q1 2017. Fair?

Probably, but we should know better than to try and guess when Tool will be recording.

Yeah, but I just figured I'd get that out of the way for all of us.

probably another mini-tour (or one-off show) at some point before new album, seems very likely.

Junior, question for you.
Last night i was at the David Gilmour (pink floyd) concert in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre. one thing I noticed is at the end (just for encore) they used lasers - very similar, if not the same type Tool uses. What caught my attention though was that the quality of the lasers last night were WAYYYYY better than anything I have seen with Tool. They were all red, and stood out so much. By better, i don't mean "cooler looking, designs or movement", but the actual visibility of the lasers themselves.
I remember last tour the green lasers Tool uses are sometimes barely visible at all. are they just thinner? any reason for this?

It looks like they are releasing a lot more smoke than at a Tool show. You can't see a laser beam unless it's reflecting off something in the air, hence the release of smoke. More smoke, means more particulates reflecting the light and the more vibrant the beam would appear. My guess is that's all there is too it.
:/

No idea. Haven't seen the Gilmour show, and that clip is blocked now.
The heavier smoke theory sounds logical.

Yeah, DG is planning a Blu ray of this tour, so vids will be taken down.

It was. Good seeing you there too. See you back down here for Sabbath eh?
I'd have to think a bit on comparing the use of lasers (or lights/visuals) at the two Gilmour shows vs recent Tool shows. I will say that even though I am pretty much a light monkey, I am so into the music of both artists, and especially Tool, I don't care about much else. Not that I don't love and appreciate what's going on visually - I do. But I'd be just as happy watching either of them in broad daylight with nothing but guitars, drums and bass. That said, the use of lights and background visuals during Astronomy Domine into Shine On You Crazy Diamond was as good as it gets.

You too man. What a night that was. I was able to slip in front of the steadi cam crew a few times, it will be fun to look for ourselves on the DVD footage.
Have a good Chella, I'll toast you from the Fab Forum.
Up the Irons!!!

I'm not, but I encourage anyone that is to use the women's restroom at the show. And for women to use the men's restroom.

Still a little miffed at myself over the weekend 1 decision when I was originally going with weekend 2/Irons. Anyway, interesting to think I'll likely be watching GnR at Coachella while IM is onstage back in LA. First world people problems!

So I spoke to one of my sources, and it seems that the Voodoo Festival is a done deal, but the Riotfests are yet to be confirmed.
