Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Alright i have a pre-sale TA question. I don't have enough 'karma' to post topics on TA so i'll ask here lol.

So i live on Long Island and actually ordered the NJ tickets. But they're still processing... does it take this long if you're actually gonna get the tickets?

I'm wondering if i should try the pre-sale at Albany also or just get them on ticketmaster.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Apparently Tool are playing gigs in Brixton Academy in August 2007, tickets are on sale and everything.

Any news on any Dublin shows for 2007 so? Seeing as it's like next door?

I'll be at the Brixton show if I can help it, but I wanna see them in Dublin again!

Damn, I kind of like Kinski and Melt-Banana is going to go over about as well as those Mike Patton projects did in the 2001 / 2002 tour.

Those Mike Patton projects went over well with me. I took all my tip money and (subsequently) bought the Fantomas and Tomahawk discography like an Ipecac bitch.

Melt-Banana will be fun to dance to.

I'm so giddy.

Hee-hee.

I like Mike Patton as much as the next guy, but his stuff does take a little getting used to - same for Melt-banana. I'm just not sure if they are a good choice to open for a band that's notoriously hard to open for.

You guys are right. Fallout Boy or the East Side (Posse? Boyz?) should open instead. MUCH more palatable...

Actually, the Miami Philharmonic would be uber-cool.

Yeah, I fully agree with that. I really though Isis would have been a better fit as well, but that didnt seem to pan out too great.

Was the fucking Little Rock show just a rumor that ended up on the official Tool page or what? Now both dates that it was scheduled for are taken for other shows.

I went to the colorado show and it was really freaking cool!
Met with a couple cool people before the show but I was alone pretty much after that (I came to the show alone you see)...That was by far the best concert I have ever seen and I still can't speak from singing along too much, my neck feels like it's broken and i couldn't hear for 2 hours after the show...god I love tool...that album really doesn't do them any justice!!

Well, you can take it as a jab at you or drunk talk. I'd say the latter is probably more accurate.

Maynard quit the band

This may be a taboo subject in these parts, but does anybody else think that tool could break up soon. Maynard just seems detached from the live performances and they don't seem to be as enthused anymore having the same setlist every show. Maybe maynard is to into his solo thing(i'm psyced for puscifer) and his vineyard and ready to go his seperate way. Please god no, but does anybody else think this is possible

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

I don't know. No one wants to think about such a thing, of course. You never know. I don't know if Maynard is just tired or what. I've actually been hearing they're really in their element lately. You never know what's going on back home or much less, in their head. They've been doing this for a long time, so maybe it gets to them from time to time. Imagine how many conversations they've had with people that have been exactly the same. Whether it's about a song, or their message, or whatever it may be concerning Tool, they might tire out of "being" Tool. I put quotations around being because a lot goes into their work and they have certainly etched out a really nice niche for themselves in the music world. There's certainly meticulous method they go through when presenting us with their latest work. I'd like to hope they end up staying together.

Actually yes, and it sounds very promising. I'm seeing a show in three days and I'm totally stoked. Though I will say, I've read a lot of disappointment on the Reno thread. My take on this whole happening is that the Reno show was just as much a slap in the face to the crowd as it was to Tool. I also don't like everybody blaming Maynard for everything. I mean, I'm certain that all of the members make mistakes by missing beats or notes, it's just easier to notice Maynard's slip-ups as opposed to that of the instruments. A lot of people "know" exactly what to expect of him, or so they think. By all accounts, the Reno show seemed like the whole band had had better days.

I think they're just getting tighter every night, from what I've read. So as far as Reno goes, every band has one of those shows. Even the legends.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

With all of the distractions occurring with the band members (side projects, and vineyards aside), the band will still be around, because the state of music, life, and culture will keep them together .... I think the band has always been about four talented people wanting to play, for their sake of their enjoyment together and expressing their ideas about various aspects of life. Its like they were first, and we were later invited to come along for their ride. Kind of like Psychologist's saying love yourself first, and others will come for their love of you.

When I see them now, I think as if I am a t a popular exhibit at an art muesem. Like good art, they reflect a time and place in history, and continue to amaze us with that interpretation of of their subject.

In the the worst scenario, if we see them go, I am sure a band like Tool will come along and not want to put up with the shit of the status quo rock scene. As long as there are Weezer-like Frat bands making #1 on the Billboard charts, some really good alternative band is going to show up , kick ass, and hopefully say they were influenced by the greatest band no one in the mainstream heard of ,a band called Tool.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

It seems to me like Tool is pretty much in the prime of their music playing career. Just look at how many shows they will have played in one year when this tour is over, its insane Maynard may be another story about being in top shape, but i would go see Tool play without a vocalist, not llike that would ever happen and nobody could ever substitue for him... ever. I could see one more album, another solid tour for that album... and then... fingers crossed... a last smaller tour with different set lists every night. When they go out, i think that would be a good way to do it.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Do you all think the torch was passed to Tool from the likes of Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd? Who could we say that Tool hands this torch to when their playing days are over??
..........I am sure the band would say something about King Crimson too...speaking of King Krimson, how many of you think we will see another Red Rocks show, if the band
decides to come back across the midwest to the west coast in Late August early September.? Went to that show during the Lateralus tour...it was a show for legend.
