Tool at BDO will be a waste of time and money. But I'm stupid enough to go anyway....

Says Pearl Jam in november on the ad but on a few websites they won't be any where near oz at that time, look for them in Febuary/March next year they always seem to tour oz at that time. Tool most likely early next year as well.
But, just to save you the hassle of reading through the whole site:
* It was rumoured that Tool would tour in August, and some dates were released, however this was from a pretty dubious source, and other tour dates plus venue bookings make them look fake.
* Tool are touring Japan in August. Generally speaking, Tool would tour Japan NZ and Australia at the same time.
* Tool were due to play the 2006 BDO, however pulled out at short notice, which may indicate they'll be at the 2007 one. However I've also heard Red Hot Chilli Peppers are playing the BDO in 2007, so I doubt there'd be room for both Tool and RHCP on the bill.
* The band have said they will be touring down under sometime in the next 12 months. And bar the band breaking up, it'd be pretty unlikely if they didn't, especially given the fanbase down here and how much the guys seem to love Australia.

Have Tool ever toured Australia in Feb/March? Not that i recall...
I dont like the idea of the BDO at all.
The sound just would not do them justice....i can just invision it being ruined by having tool on stage next to the boiler room with a huge amount of spill.
Pls NO.

At the moment I'm working on the idea that "the harvest" comes before touring. Which was apparently qaid by MJK in an interview. So maybe no tool in august. sux.
August is probably one of the only times they can get here. Why wouldnt they if they are in Japan at around that time.
I'd go to BDO if Tool played. It would be by far the best band thats played there in a LONG time. Since...NIN?...
If they dont come August i'd say next Jan/Feb/March or late next year :(

Re: Oz tour dates - anybody know anything?
from the TDN front page: After completing a round of American dates later this month and ensuing tours of Europe and Japan, [Tool] will return to the States in the fall.
It doesn't look like the merry old land of Oz will see Tool 'til the spring at the earliest.

Naw it's too hot for them here during that time of year, Maynard's make up runs ...

That would be horrible if Tool played BDO. It probably won't happen...same reason why APC didn't play the BDO. 55 minute is LAME for a headlining act. They only made an exception for Metallica in 2004 because they are Metallica...
The European festivals give the bands like 1 1/2-2 hour sets...thats why Tool is happy to play festivals in europe. (i'm going to Rock-im-Park and Roskilde in the next month:D)

Re: Oz tour dates - anybody know anything?
Billboard magazine's article (posted elsewhere) made it pretty clear that after touring Japan, the band would come back to the states, and said nothing of an intervening Australian tour. I imagine winter/early spring (from a northern hemisphere point of view) is the earliest you guys could expect a tour.

I can live with that...A february/march tour is quite plausible I say...and that would mean I would get to see them when I get back to aus after hopefully catching them on their Fall US tour sometime...2006..the Year of Tool (for me anyway)

They always make an exception for the headlining band. The problem was that APC weren't the headliners and were going to have to go on in the early evening (i.e. still daylight) and play a short set.
If AFI opens...someone is getting hit with a bottle.
