You know- I have been checking out a bunch of the Youtube uploads of the recent European dates. Maynard is still holding WAY back. He is keeping away from hitting anything that tightens or strains his vocals. It's very obvious. He has made the adjustment well, but for those of us that saw him earlier at the start of the second leg of this tour, there is just no comparison. I honestly hope he shuts it down for a good long while until his voice is healed before returning to the states.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Sweet Jebus in a clown car! Maynard actually sang the high part for Vicarious in that last date in Italy- and one of our Italian brothers (or sisters) was nice enough to pop it up at Youtube. Guess he can still do it after all

I suspect that he is normally capable of singing the high parts but doesn't do it the majority of the time to spare his voice for future shows. In August 2002 he threw out his voice while giving his all during "Parabola". I would just guess he may have learned his lesson and decided to hold back with another tour leg coming up.

I agree with you that 'normally' that is his reason for approaching that part the way he normally does (lets the audience sing it).
However, at Pukkelpop there was no way in hell he could have hit that part. It would have been a disaster. I guess he must be feeling better and that was probably what I was trying to point out. No telling how bad this throat infection he has might be, but this is a good sign.

He's always seemed to leave that part out of "Vicarious", at least since the last part of 2006. I'd think more than anything it's Maynard wanting the audience to sing it. I think back to some shows where he does that blood-curdling scream during "Stinkfist" so I can't think that he's not capable of hitting those high notes (except when he has a throat infection of course). I don't know, it should be interesting to see what comes next after these next shows. Seeing as how it will be the last leg maybe they'll give it their all.

I thought they usually end their tours with a couple shows in New York. Either way, if this leg is only concentrating on the West Coast and Pacific Northwest, well, that leaves me shit out of luck.

Judging by the fact that the last date of the current tour is 9/7/07 and the LA dates are 10/31/07 and 11/1/07 it looks like these LA shows are at the beginning. I'd heard some baseless heresay that this last leg may spill out to February.

These are probably one-off shows, or warm-ups for the Australia/New Zealand leg which is supposed to be around Nov/Dec. And the last US leg should follow that, after the usual month off for the holidays, which would wrap things up sometime in February.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Yeah..that is strange...also the venue's website doesnt have Tool listed on their upcoming events. I shot an email over to the venue asking them if they plan on hosting Tool those dates...I will post up what they reply with.

A couple of hours ago one of the shows was still listed, but the second night was taken down. Now both are gone. That is weird.

"Can... somebody... tell... me... that... this... isn't... happening... ALRIGHT, who spilled the Pringles in that state park near Dallas! This had better be some hoax/publicity stunt for some new horror release! If I wasn't busier than a Tijuana whore on Nickel Night, I'd do some investigating to see just what in the hell they're doing to the orb weavers in those Black-Op labs! The damn place looks like an Australian hotel room!!!... Can... somebody... tell... me (and Kinsey)... that... this... isn't... "
Off the tool site, think he's talking about those 2 shows? His posts are always so random and confusing, I hate it!

Maybe the Australia mention is a clue. Or he's just a sadistic fuck that gets his rocks off fucking with the fans. Probably a combination of both.

Well, at the time it said Nokia Arena/Dome/Hall/Bowl/whatever. Doesn't ring a bell for me but obviously I live hundreds of miles away so I guess I wouldn't be familiar with it anyway.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
It wouldnt suprise me if the comment on the official tool page was a hint about the upcoming australian/new zealand tour. That guy always hints at crap. Kinda annoying really, but i guess he just loves fucking with us. Anyway something i noticed when i was looking at the setlist for the tool gig i attended in 01 and the setlists for recent gigs. Im a little new to this forum so im unsure of how much this has been discussed so far but im sure you are all aware of it.

Ok fourteen songs, bloody fantastic setlist, awsome concert, all is well
What on earth is going on?
I read somewhere that maynard is having vocal problems but these setlists have been tiny for some time now. Tool are a band that have a lot of respect and rightly so, but they have gone from putting on these amazing concerts to jumping on the stage, jamming 8 songs and then buggering off. This has hindered my great love for the band and its a darn shame. Anyway, just had to get that off my chest. Cheers all

Okay, I know I am going to get flamed for this but you know what, I don't give a shit.
Everyone and their fucking mother complains about the set lists of the shows. You know what, shut the hell up. This band that all of us love is doing it their way and they are playing songs together in their own way. Who gives a fuck what they play, you are seeing Tool and the magic that happens at every show, no matter how big/short the set list is and if they play the same set every time.
I understand that everyone wants to see more songs or different songs but a band that tight is working together and seeing how creative they can be with the same set list that they play is fine with me. Sure the last tour the tended to change things up more and played longer sets but you know what, ticket prices haven't been that high for their shows and if you go to see them, you are going because you love the band and the music they play.
Stop complaining about setlists and short concerts. Go see them for who they are:
TOOL

Second setlist is for Festivals and first one is for Tool's own tour. Festival shows are always shorter than normal.
I think Tool is just kinda "bubbling over" in the Europe tour. They are just kinda "simmering down" and cooling off, preparing hopefully for a new album and tour...
So is it the general feeling that TOOL will not do more 10,000 Days shows in the US now that they are back from Istanbul?
I saw them on the mini-tour and 1 year ago, Sept 3. Right before they started playing Wings. I guess I'm kinda itching for one more round...w/Wings.
Both TOOL and Radiohead put on high quality productions.

I would imagine that they will be back in the states for one more leg (probably West Coast) and I'd have to think they'll play "Wings" again. I know the Pacific Northwest really only got the first few months of the 2006 tour wothout "Wings" so I'm sure that they'll make up for it.

Shut up, everyone can complain about the sets if they want. This is why this forum is here.
