I'm watching the live AT&T stream from Bonnaroo - some nice performances. I'm excited about going to Lollapalooza, but nothing compares to the Bonnaroo experience. When you're at the Roo it feels like you're on a different planet...

i'll tell you what i've learned from 7 years of ticket buying, but apparently its not much because i scored 4 seats about as far away as possible. i agree, that buying 2+ tickets screws you in the end.
hodge gave me some good advice, to make sure your clock is properly synced with time.gov
i refreshed exactly at 5:00:00 and nothing came up
it was about 5:00:09 before tickets were actually available.
i have known some people to go on a refreshing binge and get kicked off the site for 10 minutes. so dont do that.
also good advice given, if you have your credit card info all entered and ready to go - dont allow yourself to log off due to inactivity.

So tell us, Ticketmaster is the best for 10am sale orders, yes? Does ticketmaster get the best selection? You can only preorder if you are a member of toolarmy, correct? And, if I were to buy 3 instead of 2 tickets on ticketmaster, would I be dickin' myself out of better seats?

Yep, Ticketmaster at 10am is your best bet. The more tickets you buy at one time, the further back you will be. Even so, you can buy 3 tickets and still get a fairly good result, depending on the venue : Be sure to create a TM account before you buy the tickets, practice typing in captcha's for shows that are already on sale, and refresh your browser the moment that the tickets go on sale.
I wrote some other tips about getting through the captcha in a previous post yesterday...

WCCC in Hartford interviews the concert promoter for the area, Jim Koplic on Fridays and he said that they almost had Tool for an 8/4 date in Hartford. An interesting tidbit on what area they may be looking at for the other unannounced date that week. Still a good chance for a second New England show.

Where exactly are you watching this?
And is there really no cap at all on the number of tickets that can be bought in one order? No wonder it sells out so fast.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Even thought it's general admission floor and that's what my buds decided we should go for...I still get tense before the on-sale, haha. I got 5 floor tickets for ATL though. Hope everyone gets what they want!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
i was logged in and ready at 10 sharp, successful on first captcha thing and had to wait in a 5 minute queue but still got GA Floor. hope others got what they wanted.

Completely skipped Providence during 10k tour.
If they add a 2nd New England date, my guess would be either TD Banknorth in Boston or CCCC in Portland. Comcast center would be the obvious choice, but there's no open dates to accommodate them.

I was at the last Providence show. It was a let down after the incredible show in Boston the night before. They recovered well the following night in Manchester. I think if they played it this time out it would be a full house as the only southern New England date. On Lateralus, I think it got lost between New Haven, Boston and Manchester. I can't see them playing TD Banknorth and Manchester. A second show in Manchester could also be a possibilty.

I was there also (side of stage seats so I great view of Maynard and could actually see the build up to him storming off. And I'm glad he did as he was sort of a distraction since I was really trying to watch Danny), and I do kinda agree with you about it getting lost in between the other shows. If I remember correctly, it was a late addition to the other New England dates. But still, it was a Saturday night show, not some weeknight when people might be worried about having to wake up early for work. Definitely the worst of those shows for me (5 shows: Boston - Syracuse, Manchester being the best). I would actually put my money on CCCC before a 2nd Manchester show. The only other place I can think of would be the Centrum (LOL, I remember when that was THE PLACE everyone played when the came to the area? That might be the only major arena in New England I haven't seen Tool play).

I was seated pretty close to you on Maynard's side. Definitely the worst Tool show I've seen but it was sandwiched between two of the best shows I've seen, so all is forgiven and forgotten.
Centrum is a possibilty. Forgot all about that place. They did play that arena in Amherst and Tsongas on Lateralus as well, so those could be on the list.

I think Amherst and Lowell would actually be to small (5-7k max I think). I also wouldn't be surprised if they just do the 1 Manchester show and then play Times Union Center in Albany. But if I had to make a bet, I would put my money on CCCC. They for some reason love to play Maine.

Probably because of the lobster and they master all of their albums in Portland.

Ticket Limit
Ticket limit is 8 per household.
Please adhere to published ticket limits. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster in its discretion. This includes orders associated with the same name, email address, billing address, credit card number or other information. By clicking on the “Look for Tickets” button, or otherwise using this web site, you agree to the Terms of Use, which, among other things, prohibit using automatic processes to access this web site or requesting excessively large amounts of web pages.
No worries :)
I got 3 different friends to all buy tickets at the same time using their credit cards so nobody bought more than 6 on the same card.

Was this the show in August 2002 where he threw his voice out during "Parabola"? If so I think it wasn't a hissy fit so much as losing his voice. If I recall properly he really struggled through "Ænema" which came after "Parabola" (which would have been "The Patient" had they not skipped it). I have this show but am too lazy to look.

That was the show. He lost his voice, threw down the microphone and walked off stage.

When you throw your voice out, you don't come back on stage and continue singing, with no side effects. He didn't struggle through Ænema. He fucked the song up, got pissed at himself and stormed off the stage (or......through a hissy fit). This isn't something you can go and watch the DVD to see what happened. It's something you can tell when your 20 feet away from him and can actually see him off stage. And you don't follow that up with one of the best sounding shows of the entire Lateralus tour (or at least of the 18 I saw) the following night.
Them skipping The Patient that night had more to do with the crowd and the energy in the building. And if my memory serves me correct, after the New Haven show 3 nights later, they pretty much retired the song from the set. But I'm too lazy to look.

Manchester the next night was a fantastic show and definitely the best, if not tied with Boston out of the 7 or 8 I saw. I don't think it will get any better than that run in the Tool world. They played everywhere in New England.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
For those going to see them at the Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto,
here is a very cool 3D Interactive seating map of the venue, click or
enter your seats and can check out the view....

Also went to Wilkes-Barre, Hershey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Beach, both MSG shows in'01 and Syracuse in '02.
Nice! I caught all of the New England shows outside of New Haven, Portland and Amherst. Wilkes-Barre is one of my favorite DVD boots from that tour. Too bad they didn't catch the contortionists. Is there any good video footage of the contortionists from the first leg of that tour?
The Mansfield show was pretty memorable as well. There was a charge in the audience after 9/11 and the band fed off it. Another great one.

All those shows the first few weeks after 9/11 had the same atmosphere, nothing compared to the MSG shows though. I went with a group of friends to Mansfield and we had lawn seats and that place sucks up on the lawn. The only thing that really stuck out about that show was the rain. I thought Hartford the following night was the best of those 1st leg New England shows...Undertow & Eulogy.
As for video of those '01 shows with Osseous Labyrinth, I've yet to see one that actually shows them well. Then again, the entire show from that leg was extremely dark.
