Hmm, it seems a lot of people don't like Intension. But I listen to electronica nowadays more than rock music, so the IDM percussion in the second half of the song obviously makes me a happy boy. Very happy boy indeed.

just finished listenin to it for the first time, and its pretty good. accepteditl take alotalistenin to sink in tho. would have to say least favourite could be the third last, is iti ntension? kinda slows the whole thing down a bit too much

same here, latter half of song does have that electronica vice. Least favorite song for me is Pot, havn't been able to get into like the others

The three segues are equally skippable for me. Actually, scratch that, I can at least tolerate Lipan and VT but I cringe at the dialogue in Lost Keys.

As for the actual songs, none are bad by any stretch, but probably Wings Pt. 1 followed by Intension.

They are all classic songs except Intension which is just Good.

Right in Two by a considerable degree. Go back and listen to the last song on all the other records and you'll understand why.

I like Right in Two a hell of a lot more than Third Eye AND Triad personally. Not that either are bad.

Don't get me wrong I think TE and Triad are both great, Right in Two just hits me in a way that's a bit more powerful.

At the moment Jambi and Right in Two are my favourites and both parts of wings and Rosetta Stoned are my least favourite.

1. Viginti Tres is a great song! I love weird shit like this.

They are loosely constructed, poorly produced, and sound like recycled material. :)

Tool, at least, are keeping their style. If that means recycling old ideas, then hey... at least they're keeping their style. Recycling is good for the environment, right? Especially when it compares to other music released lately. Most of that crap should be tossed out...

For a band that's talked so much about progressing their sound and trying not to become a cover band of themselves; this record is complete hipocricy.

But seriously Adam mainly uses the same tuning on guitar and he plays in the same scale in the same key a lot of the time. You'd repeat riffs if you wrote 4 albums using the same 8 notes.

I'm pretty firm in the opinion that you havent even listened to the album. I don't doubt that you listened to a few select tracks, but to say that they are rehashing their old material is ridiculous. If you have actually listened to the new album, then I am sorry for your poor hearing abilities

As for the actual songs, depends what mood i'm in.

Not saying it's all the same shit, I'm saying that there are specific parts that are blatent rip-offs from previous material. That's not arguable.

interludes and gimmicks don't count, so my vote goes to the titletrack, which isn't really bad but a bit disappointing to me after 7:56 up to the warm and mellow ending.

I assume I'm going to get shredded for this, but if I was going to skip any of the songs on the album it would be the wings/10k days combo. Maybe I don't get the message, maybe I can't open myself up enough - I have no idea. But regardless, I just can't get into it.

Intension->Right in Two is a different story completely - I love the songs individually and the segue is awesome, but wings/10k just doesn't do it for me.

Lipan Conjuring sucks.

Even though The Pot is growing on me a bit, it's not growing on me nearly at the rate that the other two previously disliked songs (Rosetta Stoned and Intension) are. So for now, The Pot is my least favorite on the album.

What piece of junk computer speaker-esque stereo's are you listening to this on that you can say any of this was poorly produced? or "just noise"?

I think this album should be called $10,000, because that is the minimum amount of money you should spend on a STEREO (as in TWO speakers, no 5.1 shit) to listen to it. The cables on the stereo I just finished my first listen on are probably worth more than most of what you guys use. And don't tell me about headphones. Details yes. Creepy yes. But awe-inspiring, hell no.

for the actual songs (i dont count segues as songs), intension is just sooo boring. the first few times i was listening to the album i though it blended too much into right in two (which im still having a hard time getting into). intension has no personality of its own. it only starts becoming cool once the electronic drums kick in, but other than that its very forgettable. though some people compare it to disposition, disposition so kicks intension's ass.

Intension is easily the worst.

I think Intension and Right In Two are victims of poor sequencing. Rosetta Stoned has the epic closer feel, I can barely pay attention to the album after that. When I listen to either track alone I enjoy, but on the album, they're tied for least favorite.
