That's not true either, I may listen to it one day and be sure I hear one thing, read something different on here and hear something totally different when I listen to it again....it's happened to all of us, I'm sure.

sure it's true... i believe we hear what we need to when we need to... and what i hear when i hear it is only important to me at that moment... until i hear something else... then at that time in my life i may need it to say something else... now that's something that happens to all of us...

Lot's of bands with only one guitarist use dubbed rythym guitar during album solos. Knowing that they can't play two parts at once, they simply play the solo live, without the benefit of rythym guitar filling out the music.

To people that have never heard the bands recordings and are seeing them live for the first time, the music should seem less full during the solo, however, this doesn't appear unusual as the first time listener does not have the frame of reference of the recording and will not notice a difference.

Now, the fan listens to that album and sees them live. It would seem that the music would seem less full during the solo but in actuality, the brain creates the missing rythym guitar in the mind subconsciously.

So what are we hearing and what is real to you or me when and where and so on and so on?

The former (first timer) listener, lacks the frame of reference from the recorded reality.

The latter (avid fan) has the frame of reference and because of it, actually hears something that is not there.

The point is, which is reality? Which is right? Are either wrong? Are both relevant?

they are both wrong and right simultaneously... what's wrong to one is right to the other and vice versa... the first timer hears what's there, but the fan knows it's lacking... and what the fan is subconsciously adding would not be true for the first timer... there's never one without the other... i was simply getting at the fact that at one time one person can't hear and believe more than one thing... they couldn't simultaneously truthfully hear ' 46 and 2 ahead of me' and ' i like candy corn and whatever else' at the same time... and believe both... that's all i was saying...

I was listening to this on my ipod while I was working out today. It sounded like he said "cutting light and all right in two." Wish they would release these lyrics.

i don't think so man... it seems to me to be no more than 6 syllables... maybe 'cut light all right in two'... i can maybe hear that...

That wouldn't make sense though. The other one makes sense, sort of, but it has too many syllables.

Most of the time I do hear "Cutting my love right in two" but there is one time, maybe the last time he says it, when it sounds like something else.

what i hear every time i listen to it is 'cut my love right in two' regardless of what other people say... if i read something without listening i can maybe morph in my mind that it's something else, but when i sit down and actually listen, i get the same thing every time... 'cut my love right in two'
