I will buy the album. Got the Vicarious MP3 since radio over here won't play it anyways and I wanted to hear it, but will wait until the release date to hear the rest... in a dark room, lying down, just like I did with Lateralus a few years ago.

Yeahyeah, i pre-ordered mine as well. I also downloaded the leak. I was instantly struck by lightning, but the minute my pre-order was processed my eyes opened and every burn mark disappeared. I now feel whole and complete again.
Oh, and i wont say anything about the damn record before i've heard at least 5 times. Like every Tool album it has to grow on you. So stop your bitching and have another listen (or dont)

Buying this cd at least twice, one for the artwork to put up on the wall, the other to listen to.

To support the band, I'll buy one copy of the the album, a concert ticket, and some merch.
I know a lot of ppl want to pledge their support by buying more than one album, but if Tool make as little per CD as people around here say they do, its not quite the gesture its made out to be. More like putting money in Sonys pocket. Why not save the money you would have spent on that 2nd (3rd?!?!) CD, make a backup (for all those worriers about CD breakage), and spend the support money on merch, or something else where the TOOL members get a bigger cut? Just a thought.

yeah, i'm definitely buying this album the day it comes out, but like dekard49 said, the band gets very little from the cd sales, so i'll also be seeing them on tour whenever they get back from europe (they aren't coming near enough to me on this first stint, unfortunately) because touring is where most bands *really* make bank.

I'm definately gonna buy it on the day it comes out. The only difference would be instead of buying it when the store opens I'll wait until the afternoon. The main reason I started listening to the leak was because I had already heard vicarious so many times, I didn't want that song to seperated from the album in my brain, I don't think it was too late.

Without question, I'll be purchasing it. Concert tickets as well.
I haven't downloaded the album, and will not do so. When a band puts this much effort into preventing leaks (sadly, still not enough effort I guess), it's a sh!tty show of support to go DL it. It's the same with King Crimson - and I suspect there are some Crim fans on this board - if you want the band to sense connection with the audience, do not go dicking them over just because you can't wait another 2 weeks.
Having said all that, I realize that it is more principle than practicality. At best, the band might get a buck for each CD sold, and that's pushing it - plus, the first few hundred thousand copies just go pay of the label for the money Tool 'borrowed' to record, press, and advertise.
Finally, though I support the band enough to not DL the leaked CD and defer to the legal purchase, I think the whole $50 toolarmy membership site is a blatant sham and a crock of sh!t. Oh well - one strike against a band that is otherwise incredibly consistent.

I'm going to buy the album, definatly. I got so pissed off when it leaked the other night i nearly threw up... hah. I get emotional some times...
I hope to god that they don't wait 5 years before they release the vinyl version. Hopefully within a couple of months? I plan to buy it on any format it comes in. You know, just because i can.

I'll be buying at least two copies to start with. One for my car, and one for my home. But considering i've gone through tens of copies of their albums over the last 10 years, i'm sure that i'll be picking up many more.
If they want it, they have my support. If they don't neccessarily need it, well, they have it anyway.

Of course I'll buy it. I'm a Tool Fan. I've only heard Vicarious and won't be searching for anymore of the album on-line. It pisses me off coming to this site and finding reviews on a CD that hasn't been released yet. I'm a diehard fan and I can wait 2 weeks to hear the new material. I don't care what anyone says, the band will definately lose revenue from this leak. Do all you people who have dl'd it plan on keeping it for your own use or are you going to share it in whole or in parts with your friends? I'm sure in a lot of cases it will get shared to fly-by-night fans and so the band loses money. Aside from portability,I don't get the attraction of MP3's anyway. The music is compressed and anyone with an ear for music can tell the difference.Plus your usually listening via a real shitty pair of headphones to boot! By downloading it ,you just become another one of the "sheep", falling prey to the media who make you think you need an MP3 to be cool and with it. Isn't this the type of thing that TOOL are against and sing about? Think for yourself, turn off your MP3!!

As most of us did, I came into Tool when grunge ruled the charts. At a great and rich time in music. Back when every thing was more real than I think we may ever see again. There was no cookie cutter rock bands, every thing was dirty, angst, soul driven music. The masses weren't living vicariously through there t.v.'s., they were thinking more for them selves. Hell MTV was still playing music videos. Things were so different then.
Now things are almost backwards, as we spiral closer to that Orwellian future. Most of us are just eager to hear the new music, true fans, the kid that peaks at his gifts under the tree, the ones that can't be bound by release dates and will still reach into our pockets to pay them back in any way we can, b/c of what they have given to us as well as love what we recieve. We are the ones that have grown with their music, to us it just seems natural, for it to be gone would be a loss only equal to that of a close loved one.
Unfortunetly there are those out there who are quick to gudge, that are far to materialistic or just want some thing for free and are not as lucky as us true fans who except change and show our support. We are the ones who get the most out of the music, plus the artists respect. We don't idolise, we admire. We are not tool's, they are. Maybe one day when every one else grows up we can all enjoy a show together.
Till then, thanx, Ill be there may 2nd.

Re: A show of support.
Good thread.
It's a shame how one person (the leaker) can ruin the band's whole hope of the element of surprise. I refuse to listen to the rest of it early. May 2nd can't get here fast enough.

Pre-ordered back when it was "TBD" on Amazon. Next day shipping so I should have it in my hands very quickly. Just pre-ordered a copy for a friend.
No concert tickets for me though, they're not coming near enough to DC. Can't imagine why not ;-)

I will buy it, I now own 4 copies of AEnima because I got tired of bringing them with me places. So I will probably get multiple copies of this one as well.

Dear MAJD,
I am sorry that someone leaked your new album before it came out. When I heard of the leak, I was slightly saddened for your loss, but quickly jumped all over this leak like a fat kid on a twinkie. I love the new album, and on May 2nd, I will be PURCHASING the new album (and trying not the think of the RIAA as a bunch of bloodsucking vampires). And when you tour in the US, I will be attending yours shows (God willing). Leak or no leak, I will buy this album.

Downloaded it, but will, of course, buy it as well.
And also on vinyl if/when it comes out on it.
Got my tickets to go and see them as well.

As you'll see by my post count of 1, I registered just to respond to this thread.
Bought four copies of Lateralus for friends because I didn't want to copy it, so you can be dammned sure that I'm buying the new one.
Only Tool I ever stole is Salival, and if the bastards would rerelease it I'd run out and buy that too.
What is it that inspires this almost insane degree of loyalty?
I'm no saint, I can't say that I'd do this for anyone else.
And BTW, if you don't have it already, it's soooooofuckinggoooooood!
Kabir was dead on, not what you're expecting, but exactly what you need.

Firstly I'll state I will buy two copies of the album on May 2nd. But regardless, I have my own way of justifying downloading an album as opposed to buying it. What i will do is attend the artist's concert and buy some merch while im there. This way the band is making all the profits off my pruchase of their 'art', as many bands make most of their money thru merch sales, and not the record companies who make the most off profits from album sales.
