If I were Maynard I wouldn't even use a tour bus (and I'm pretty sure he doesn't).

I think i'm at the point where i'd rather hear convincing word that Live DVDS (plural) are being worked on, than an album being recorded.
Some well made dvds celebrating the bands performances when they were in their prime and the evolution of the show would be probably be more entralling than a new album.
Probably.
Despite everything, this band still appeals to me. I'm still fascinated and interested to hear more. So a new album is still exciting to me. But if they quit and just committed their efforts to releasing official live recordings, i'd respect that.
I don't know, shit was just on my mind today. Figured i'd bump this thread.

they wont release any live dvds unless their tour ticket sales begin to drop or they retire.
they need another album to round out their catalogue. i still love the band and i think they've given themselves longevity that a lot of bands hope for while not having to "stay current" with new material. adam's art drew me to tool and that's what keeps me around. i love knowing that even if i get a shitty album, i'll at least have some cool artwork to go with it (and maybe a video!)

That's sort of what i was getting at. I wouldn't mind them calling it quits and putting effort toward celebrating their run. But this next album i believe is under contract. So we're going to get it. And they'll probably tour. But i almost wish that's where it ends.
I just have a hunch its going to take them longer and longer to put out projects that they'll all be happy with.

I am betting this next album is it for them. They'll continue releasing things...vinyl, DVDs, videos, etc. and probably do some tours here and there, but I don't think any more albums will be done.
I'm hoping Blair will have some good updates on the album in his next newsletter.

If their next album is another 10,000 Days, I'd prefer it to be their last album. Maybe they'll achieve Aenema or Lateralus greatness again, but probably not. I can live without another tool record I never play.
Also, what Rsh said about Puscifer.

Been listening to a lot of Tool recently...getting pretty amped about the new album. I hear songs like: The Grudge, Eulogy, Vicarious, Reflection, Jerk Off and many others and I still have a lot of faith in these guys. Seems like after 10K Days and the many years its taken to get a new one out, a lot of folks have lost hope.

They've said several times over the last 3 years they're writing new songs, presumably they're doing that with the intent of releasing them.

I'm sure it will be great, and I get the impression that there may be a few other treats around the corner. We have already seen evidence of a visual project. Even if it is a video for The Pot, 7 years after the song came out, I would dig it.

Yea man, Pot video is definitely going to be one of the surprises I think. Maybe they will do a 10k days vinyl? Im all about collecting their memorabilia, so hopefully it's something real tasty.

i'm all for seeing adam's imagination brought to life. it's one of the major elements that drew me to tool in the first place.
but "the pot"? at least do a video for one of the meaty tracks on the album, like "right in two", "rosetta stoned" or "jambi".
or, i dunno, release a video for a new song instead of one that's been playing on radio for over half a decade.

So, assuming this isn't hogwash; it furthers my suspicion that Tool may have deliberately gone for a quasi-Aenima feel with this album. According to Blair's yammering, (correct me if I am wrong) Problem 8 is supposedly a leftover/unreleased track from the Aenima era. Message to Harry Manback III; I think that throwback is obvious. Adam also inquired this year amonst all fans to purchase a replacement Deizel Amp head that he used for the Aenima sessions. And if the final track title is legitimate and not a working title, it would infer there is too be a little more tongue-in-cheek humor on this album. A staple of Aenima, if for no other reason than tracks like Intermission and Die Eier von Satan.
IF this is all true; I find it puzzling that they'd create any sense of "Aenima 2", but intriguing at the same time.
For what it's worth, I feel this could be a fake leak/track-list OR this is far from set in stone. How could they seemingly be just over halfway done writing, with Maynard's contribution yet to be finished (or started for all we know), and be certain of album and track titles? We know an album title is typically one of the things they do last.
Something doesn't quite add up. Hellboy, it's your source... how do you feel about this?

I'm draggin this post out since I dodged it the first time.
Having recently gone through a Genesis listening spree and noticing some parallels in their history, I feel I can make some analogies.
Puscifer is to Tool what Peter Gabriel's 80's solo work is to '70-'75 Genesis.
Certainly not better in any way. But some tracks are a decent listen if you are willing to put the past behind you.
In a similar sense, Ashes Divide is to A Perfect Circle what Phil Collin's Genesis is to Peter Gabriel's Genesis.
It made a similar turn into mediocrity that it's missing member made. Once again (imo), still some okay tracks to be heard. Again not better.
So let me put this way; Golden era Genesis >>>> Peter Gabriel solo > Collin's Genesis > call me, maybe
I don't know what to make of "A Puscifer Divide"...
tl;dr version
Take a chill pill. some people like Puscifer, myself included, and Tool ain't what it used to be. No reason to get huffy. There's plenty of music outside of these shithead bands to listen to.

Yeah, I've seen at least 1 post in the past month. I figured opening my mouth about Pusicfer might coax him out again.
You're all welcome.

I agree...I googled it...means black window from what I can see. Nice job, Hellboy- this will probably be better than the real tracklist and title
