Ah, I was so happy to see that they added the show on Friday, because I could not go on Thursday. Luckily, I checked the tour section and saw that they added a show the next night and bought tickets. Can't wait! This'll be my first Tool show.
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
So Blair jsut posted onto the website that the 8th is a confirmed show, does that means people bought tickets to a show that wasn't 100% going to happen or Blair is just a douche?
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
Both shows are still not sold out. Damn, for a second (when they added a second night) I thought TOOL had become this hugely popular band - I guess not, which is actually pretty cool. I tend to lose interest in bands when they become massively popular.

tool is quite popular...maybe not enough to sell out an arena two nights in a row in the middle of a tour, but if it was just a single show or just those 2 shows, you can be sure they would've sold out instantly.

Yeah, nowhere near, say, U2 (a band that I don't enjoy). They sold out both nights in the middle of a tour at Staples Center. But they are certainly more popular than Slayer (a band I greatly enjoy). I seriously doubt they can sell half the tickets Tool has already sold by themselves, and an opening band to be fair.

i'm assuming a seat...if i had floor tickets i would hope they were seats. i hate having to deal with drunk assholes that just like to push people around instead of enjoying the music.

Pretty sure they are seats although someone earlier in the thread seemed to think otherwise. Some venues are GA on the floor (no seats) but it looks like Staple's will not be that way for Tool. I did notice that U2's stage setup at Staple's was GA on the floor. It was, however, listed that way

whenever it's actually general admission, it says "GA" or "GA FLOOR" or something like that. not just "FLOOR" and then a row and seat number. i think there will be seats and i thnk it's for the best...

But like i posted before, i've been to smaller venues where it was all GA and the ticket gave a specific row and seat, even though there were no seat. Now i know smaller venues may operate a little differently than the Staples Center i'm just pointing it out. But, there is the U2 concert that had floor seats...so, we'll see.
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
Well, I called up the Staples Center to figure it out. And yes, it will be the seats.
Then again, I've been to concerts where despite assigned seating (and to the great dismay of security) enough of the audience rushed the stage to make it a GA show. Good times.
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
damn, no luck selling my tickets for the 7th. mysteriously, the people interested are not getting back to me :) i'll probably just end up going to both nights.
i'm pretty sure there's going to be seats on the floor.

Dude, good luck. I'm selling better seats at a discount and i can't get rid of them.
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
yeah, i'd say the closer the show gets, the better we'll have at selling our extras. people tend to get desperate in the last week or two before the show. but i won't hold out hope. i'll plan to go to both shows.\
ticketmaster really needs to create something where you can sell back your tickets to them, but i'm sure they'd really screw you over.
Re: 2006/09/07-08 - Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center
quick question. How many people here have been to a Tool show sober? The only Tool show I have been to I was rolling on E. How is it sober? The reason I want to know is I decided to take my dad. He will be sober as will I. Any comments?

i've been to 10 tool shows sober and one on acid. you don't need drugs while seeing tool, they bring you to another place by themselves.

not a bad idea unfortunately Tool doesnt mix their setlist up at all so youll more than likely hear the exact same songs in the same order on both nights.
Radiohead on tour this yr had the right idea it was a different show every time they played

i've seen them on consecutive days in the past and even though the sets are fairly similar, the experience is different and still amazing. i would see them 10 nights in a row with the same exact set.

Cheers to that. I disagree with the previous poster. I think they will begin to switch things up on this tour. I, like many others I am sure, are waiting for the premier of wings/10k days live. I think there is a good chance it could happen at either LA show.
I am also dying to find out if the new set is done or if we are going to see the same 4 screens for the next 2.5 years.

i can't wait for wings/days to be played live. i'm seeing them on saturday, but i doubt they'll do it at a festival like that. the arena shows will be the real show. 2.5 hours of tool.

I broke down and bought a couple floor tickets on ebay, and only ended up paying about 4 dollars more than ticketmaster wanted. I don't know what I'll do about parking, though.
