That device that Vincent DeFranco made for Adam that uses like a laser or something that somehow alters the tone by detecting the movement of the fretboard or something.

I think this is used on this track. I think this is used on the guitar track with the long note that never dies, and then slightly changes the pitch. I think when it changes the pitch, its this device that makes it sound that way.

Yeah I hear the Moog a few times. Some of the synth during "Rosetta Stoned" has to be contributions from Danny...it sounds just like the synth in Third Eye (Live).

Wouldn't be an ebow. In the Guitar World article the interviewer suggested the same thing and Adam response was "Please don't say I use an ebow"

yeah, he has a bass whammy and uses it A LOT.... like... a whole fucking lot. listen to aenima, lateralus, and 10,000 days all the way through looking for it. you'll hear it quite a bit.
I mean, shit, that sliding riff from schism? Whammy.
edit: I am referring to a Digitech Whammy pedal, NOT a whammy bar.

Isn't that device linked just a theremin? I know you could get just one solid sustained note from a theremin, and with a little movement within its field you could get pitch bent stuff.

Listen to the end of Lateralus (With my feet upon the ground and on) Tons of whammy pedal there. I really don't think it sounds like Justin though...The tone is way trebly for anything that would come out of a bass. I could be wrong, I suppose.

But it's so constant. I would really respect Jones more I saw him use feedback that way.
I still maintain he uses the pipe bomb mic for that part either way.

It would make sense that the bass is making the feedback since a guitar is clearly playing the chords. They rarely arrange things that cannot be played similarly live.

I was actually wondering whether or not it was Adam playing that cool little feedback lick because of the fact that he plays the chord sequence over the top of it. If Adam did both the feedback and the chords then someone else would have to play guitar live as Echo Flanger stated above (Maynard could do it, I saw him play guitar on Schism at the Manchester Apollo in 2001 but that's not the point). It could very well be Justin doing it, as a bassist myself I am well aware that the instrument is much more dynamic than people are made to believe.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if it was him doing it because of the simple fact that his musicianship on 10,000 Days is outstanding. In the past I've been more impressed by Danny's drumming from a musician's viewpoint but Justin is definately the best of the bunch on this album.
