I'm thinking we scored big on the opening band is Sac. and SF!
You talking about Jello Biafra's band? I guess if you like punk they'd be okay. Their songs are simpler than molasses though, and Jello has some crazy political message that I couldn't fully understand.

Does anybody have a link to a picture of the poster with the four members from the 10K booklet, and if so, mind sharing it?

I dunno, the range of dates seems to confirm that they decided to play the same setlist over and over way in advance.
It would be a little more interesting if it said 7/1 instead of 7/4, since 6/29 was Red Rocks, the only show with a different setlist; all the shows since 7/1 have been the same.

The "7/???" is the most interesting part. If they were going to do the exact same set the rest of the tour wouldn't it have said "7/4 - 7/19" instead? Perhaps this indicates a possible change? Probably for the second LA show.

The Dead Kennedys are/were hugely influential, and Jello is considered the Godfather of California punk.
Everybody near the age of 40 and that plays hard rock (Adam) and or grew up in California was influenced by bands like DK.
It's not for everybody for sure but that was a very cool moment in the grand scheme of things.
Very cool of Tool to do that and I loved every freakin second of it.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
I wouldnt even know who pol pot was or what he did if it wasnt for DK I dont remember my hick ass school history classes ever touching on it...an im 27 but DK was my introduction to punk and i love it

It pisses me off that I can go on StubHub and get better tix today for the Sacramento show than what I got the day they went on sale, and cheaper too. Ticket brokers call all wither up & die.
I may be in the minority here, but I like the fact that I know what to expect tonight. I'm soooo pumped for the show. Don't get me wrong, I like surprises too, but now I know how stoked to be to hear 46 & 2 again.
Plus it really helped get my girl prepped for her 1st TOOL show tonight.

Exactly. It is awesome for people who only go to one show on the tour (and even better if it's your first Tool show), but it sucks for people who want to or do go to multiple shows like me (and many others here). Same setlist... almost guaranteed. Hopefully Jello comes out tonight though!

Yeah thanks for this. I bought an extra Cedar Park poster hoping to trade straight up with someone. So I've got it posted it up there with my e-mail address if anyone is interested. Or you could PM on here. It is unsigned (183/250) looking for another unsigned poster from a different night.
Sounds like it was an awesome show in SF! I was fortunate enough to see DKs on the Frankenchrist tour at the Ritz when I lived in NYC in the 80s. My main memory is the place was going freaking bananas. It actually felt like something was happening that mattered, which is saying something since a lot of 80s music was pretty fluff. Also, I think I was on something at the time but we won't get into that :)>

I never thought I would get to hear Jello sing HIC and California Uber Alles! I am kind of bummed we didn't get Police Truck

I do admit that it was reassuring to know that I would definitely be hearing Third Eye, something I thought I'd never hear live. And it was nice to know that I would hear The Patient and extended Intolerance for sure, which I really like. But other than that...it would've been nice to get some extra flavor. I think they're doing the wrong thing by keeping the same setlist of the hits and just rotating out a few songs, when it should be the opposite. Keep Third Eye, Intolerance, etc, and rotate the other songs in and out. They played the same setlist when I saw them in '07, except for--surprise--Third Eye, The Patient, and Intolerance.

I have an extra ticket for Tool in Vegas on Friday in section 205 (center stage) row X. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested. Will meet up before show in Vegas to give you ticket.

Shouldn't matter for much longer anyway though. I mean, it would seem that their next tour will be in support of a new album, which will make up most of the setlist at that time. There will be even less room for all of their "hits."

They're still gonna play the hits, though. Stinkfist, Forty Six & 2, Schism, and Lateralus will probably still be there. I don't think Stinkfist should ever leave...maybe that's how the band feels about the other tracks?
This is from the review of the SF show that The Embryo 2 posted:
Quote:
Not that it was all big-boned chording. Tool likes to be as drawn-out and as complex as possible with its music -- testing fans' patience in the service of proper anticipation, I guess -- and it didn't pass up any chance to get intricate last night. Time signatures switched constantly; silence appeared unexpectedly; riffs evolved subtly into other riffs; climaxes arrived and dissipated like clouds. This is all part of what makes Tool fans swoon. With so much processed sound swirling throughout the room, the resulting noise made it hard to follow a few songs. But the band compensated for that by playing many of their best-known numbers.
At the SF show the crowd was so impatient. A lot of random cheering during any interlude, especially the Lateralus intermission, as if to say "hurry the fuck up and play already!"
I don't want to hear their best known numbers. I want them to launch into 4º, but it seems like more than half the crowd won't know what the hell is going on. Maybe the band is fueled by the massive surges in the audience when they play Forty Six & 2 or Schism, and they're no longer interested in being quirky or emotional with their lesser known tracks. Kinda sad for the hardcore fans.
The good news is, their album tours are awesome. When I saw them in '06 and '07 I heard every track on 10,000 Days (except for the 30 second Intension but meh it was something). So I eagerly await a setlist packed with stuff from the new album.

m.
Meh, I didn't get that vibe in my part of the crowd. The interlude is Junior's time to shine as an artist, and as a one myself, I respect and love that they do that for someone that's been so instrumental in building their live show.
...but I still can't shake that urge underneath to start counting off the minutes I'm not seeing Tool play! Or that they started at 9:08! They coulda totally played Right In Two! (Alright, now I'm nitpicking...)

I felt it from the ENTIRE crowd. Why the fuck were there huge rising cheers during the intermission? There was even a stupid little clapping chant going on at one point during the intermission too, that was the "hurry up and play" moment I was talking about earlier. Fucking stupid.
I for one love the interludes and such. I like sitting back in my seat and taking it all in. I'm in no rush to hear the next song so I can stand up and mosh, but it seemed like most people were. It put a smile on my face that the crowd was kind of dead during The Patient and it was the only song where everyone in my section sat down. I could picture most people thinking "wtf is this, I can't headbang to this".
And they played for nearly two hours in '07, so it's not really the starting time that matters. They sped up the whole show in general.

There was a couple of the signed San Antonio posters on ebay just a couple of weeks ago. I have an unsigned one in my collection. Probably my favorite out of all of them. One of the coolest ones from last year for sure!

Yeah, I saw that one but the guy wanted way too much for it.... Ive already got an autographed NO print. Theres no need for me to spend the extra $$$ on another signed one. Im hoping to find an unsigned soon enough.
True, I got a Signed Houston and Cedar Park poster from this tour and kinda looking to trade the Houston one. Not even for another signed one, maybe a few unsigned ones? It would be amazing to be able to trade the Signed Houston poster for unsigned Red Rocks posters from each night! Hey, I can dream can't I?
But yeah, those San Ann posters on ebay were very expensive!

The red rocks pair is pretty badass.... Ima hold off on those for a little while, maybe try to pick them up a few months down the road when the tour is done and the demand dies off.
I wanna wait on them too, only to see what the LA posters are going to look like. Last two shows of the tour and back to back nights at the same place! Should be good! Hopefully another set like the RR posters.
