Is there any type of source for the Houston show? I was thinking that they would play in San Antonio since that's more of a central point for people from Houston, Austin and El Paso. Also didn't San Antonio kind of get screwed over the last couple of tours? Or was that Houston? I can't remember.

Due to the fact that I'm lame, bored or whatever, I gave both of these cities/dates a thorough check. And I'm pretty sure neither is correct.
From looking at the itinerary (confirmed) so far, and Blair's posts, I'd say there is a chance of another Texas show July 24 or July 26, then a progression east July 27-31(maybe Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, ATL, the Carolinas or the DC area) before the APW Fest on August 1. Then I'd guess, NY, PA, Boston, upper midwest (Aug 2-7) before Chicago Aug 8 and St. Paul. From there I'd guess they'd head toward the West Coast, maybe Seattle in there somewhere, then back down to So Cal. Still hoping they hit Vegas in there somewhere, but who knows.

If I had a guess, I'd say everything you posted is correct. West coast at the end of the tour (and Vegas). Just like last time.

It was both... They played Houston and Maynard was sick. Didn't sing alot of the songs. They postponed SA till March and then Danny tore his bicep and finally got rescheduled for May. Yes, I'm still bitter....
I got tix for Dallas online on Ticketmaster. Section 309. Part of me is very frustrated with the ticketmaster process. One side of me is PO'ed with the fact that they own a ticket reseller. Talk about anti-trust violations. Then there's the other side of me who realizes that with the size of the venue, the following of the band, and the lack of information on other dates all come together to cause this show to sell out so quickly. Iono...I think I'm just happy to get to be at the show.

Yeah I've come to accept that too, the farthest east that i've seen a rumor for even is Atlanta. although I've still got my fingers crossed for a Philadelphia date. considering though that this is just going to be a short tour without anything to promote, it would make sense that they wouldn't spend the money and stray too far from their home base.

yes at least someone is thinking about Seattle I've seen tool all over and I think Seattle shows and L.A. shows are the best.
Justin says the tour is going to be 3 week long and so far the announced dates cover only two weeks. I say that it ends on the west coast or vegas we just need the dates. come on just give em to us.

...it's on the upper level, all the way across the front row. there's a walkway behind you, and then the 400 section...no obstructions, and a great bird's eye view of the stage as you lean forward in your seat and look over the rail!

They do swing through that central area usually. This is likely a "mini tour", that being said I would give it a good chance theres a KC or possibliy St. Louis date. I saw them in wichita last go around (07) but I think wichita is unlikely for the "mini tour"

This is from fourtheye.net:
According to ditchrider1 on Toolarmy, the following snippet appeared in the latest Rolling Stone:
Tool
July 18th-August 8th
“The Prog metal crew will take a break from working on a new album for a three-week tour built around slots at Lollapalooza, All Points West and the Mile High Festival. Even though Tool won’t be debuting new music, bassist Justin Chancellor says the group will “rework some old stuff and maybe throw in a few covers.” Fans can expect an intense multimedia show similar to the last tour.”
Presumably in the magazine, as I can’t find this on the Rolling Stone website. Sounds like we can expect the same stage show, but with a few different tunes thrown in from last time round.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I've said it before and I'll say it again....Tool has us all by the balls!!! I mean look at all this chatter!!! You guys analyzing every imaginary scenario of these guys' touring plans. I mean come on, are we really allowing these guys to have this kind of influence on our lives???
I guess so. lol
Mike I have no I idea of where you can stay in N.Y. Im sure you can land a great deal on a nice room out there. Good luck!!!

Seriously tho, it's amazing how cheap airfares are right now. You know anywhere you could stay in NY Angel? Make it happen! Sure, we're gonna get a So CA show eventually. But I love travelling to see this band.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Here's my opinion:
Considering this is a 3-4 week tour built around the festival dates, we can pretty much speculate that there are 2 different periods for more shows to be announced:
July 18th-August 1st: more dates will be announced in the southwest and southeast areas of USA given the current schedule. probably atlanta, florida, kansas or carolina. also possibly vegas somewhere in this period around the phoenix/slc shows.
August 1st- whenever they end the tour: more dates will be announced in northeast. given that NJ show is on the 1st, and chicago is on the 8th... that's 7 days where I think at LEAST one of Toronto, Boston, Philly, NYC, ect. will be done. maybe more.
(for the record, due to building excitement my previous offer of one testicle for a toronto show has now been increased to one testicle plus a kidney. still taking offers on a lung)

I don't think this stretch leaves any scenario possible for west coast dates especially with travel time and days off. I doubt they would leave out Seattle/Portland or Bay Area/Los Angeles just because they know they can sell out a 10,000 person arena in any of those areas. I'm guessing at least another week after Lolla is possible and they end up back home.

I believe I've only counted about half of the ticket brokering sites that have Tool tickets for sale. After I got to 1,666 tickets I got too disgusted to continue counting. There are several other brokering sites that have Tool tickets for sale. If we were to assume my figure is about half of all the tickets held by ticket brokers, it would mean there's over 3,300 tickets in the hands of these bastards, and on average they're trying to sell tickets at a 400 to 500 percent mark up. And for what? Purchasing them through ticketmaster?!
If the Nokia venue seats 6,300 people, it means that these brokers have collectively purchased more than half the tickets for this event. Obviously ticketmaster receives monetary gain by selling to these resellers. It's almost pointless to have ticketmaster in the equation. I mean, if you're going to have to go through a broker for not purchasing tickets within the first five minutes of the ticketmaster sale, why have them there in the first place?

Most brokers post their tickets across multiple sites, so this will make it seem like there's more tickets than there actually are. Once they sell the ticket on one site, their posting on the other sites will come down. Some are just Tool fans who picked up extra tickets and are trying to make a quick buck and aren't posting on every site.

LOL! Not for me... for YOU! I already have a place to stay once I'm there. But I as far as festivals go, MBV/Tool back to back is a heluva line up. Definitely worth the scratch if you can get it together.

I can't see them playing a venue that small when they sold over 35K tix in the Boston area on the 10K Days tour over two nights at the Comcast Center. That booking would be a kick in the face to their large fanbase around here.

with this f'ing band, nothing is out of the question anymore! they played to 1,ooo in 2oo6, then about 23,ooo in 2oo7 last tour in Dallas...this time will be 6,ooo. and the handling of ticket sales...and calling out the Dallas date as what will be "one of the greatest TooL shows ever"... is there a band that screws with their fans more ... it's like the dominatrix that disgraces you ... and you keep coming back!
all the psycological mindgames are well worth the glorious opportunity to go back to church...!

Speaking of wine signings, if anyone's got an extra for the Grand Prairie show, I'd happily pay face plus throw in a signed bottle of Chupacabra to show my appreciation.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I hope that they come back up here in WA. It would be nice to see them again before they decide to go back into the toolshed for a while whenever the next album comes out.

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.

I bought MJK wine in Page Springs in February. I thought the Chupacabra was $20 ... anyway it was really nice. I had to concentrate to give an objective opinion, but it was as good or better than a $30 bottle from the Vintages section in my local (Ontario) liquor store.
I drank the Primer Paso on the weekend. I was hoping some of Maynard's mojo will rub off on me. Anubis is now the only bottle left.
Anyway, bring on the Toronto show. TORONTO TORONTO TORONTO.
