APC was great, I definitely think May May sounds better with them than with Tool. I don't know if it's because the music is softer, and he's easier to hear, or if he's just mix lower with Tool. Probably both. The show kicked ass, seats were great. Then again, I always have a great time at any concert in Vegas.

From a DC interview with Rhythm:
Quote:
What stage are you at in the writing process for the new Tool album?
We have six or seven really good frameworks that we’re working on. We’re over half way in my opinion. The first tune is always hard to get polished off. It seems like on every record we have this big, epic thing like ‘Rosetta’, ‘Wings for Marie’ or ‘Lateralus’. That’s the one we’re focusing on now. Once we knock out that, the other songs fall into place around it. We’re right on the fringe of knocking that big one out. We’re all excited and it seems to have progressed really well.

I suppose the newest article where maynard was interviewed essentially proves my point. TOOL is no longer. Its a shame for us fans. I dont necessarily criticize maynard for anything...he's found different interests, but I would suggest Blair...and ive already sensed it, stop telling us the band is ready to throw down a record. Theyre not. TOOL as we know it is over.

Well I guess you know more then Danny does even though you are not in the band and he is. Did you read the article in Rhythm Magazine? In case you didn't Danny said they are about halfway done writing and they just about have their one epicsong done and everything falls into lace after that. But like I said you do know more then the band so now I know there is no new Tool album coming after all.

FUCK YEAH! Was seriously hoping for this! Can't believe they haven't been there already, just glad they are now. Gonna be amazing seeing them outdoors in the desert; a lot of their songs are about the beauty/power of the desert.
Also Trent Reznor's new project How To Destroy Angels will be there, another hope I had! Of course there is always a hope for Tool every year, but know it's not that likely until around the time they release the new album whenever that will be, so try to never get too hung up on it.

Hope you're right, and I hope you enjoy it if you go. The videos I saw of them at River's Edge during the day time... just looked like a total waste. The theater shows I've seen are a blast, and judging by your post, I'd bet you agree. Doesn't look like they've given any indication of what time of day they'd be playing. I'd hope for any that go that it's as close to sunset as possible.

Sunset. Outdoor stage 50 min set.
Stoked. Like up is solid. Strong undercard makes up for weak headliners.

Feelin ya (up) compadre! Look, this festival might as well be re-named Nick Cave's New Home. I cannot believe I am getting both Grinderman and the Bad Seeds. And Stone Roses? Well, I called that one. Pretty excited!
As for Puscifer, Coachella is what you make of it. It's May May so they ain't gonna shove him in a tent in the middle of the day. But even if they did, it will be awesome.
RHCP- ya know, I don't hate these guys, but something fell through here. You guys who said Tool couldn't headline... don't you think the festival would look a little better for headliners with Tool there instead of RHCP?

I love RHCP in that slot. Allows me a nice headstart on traffic and a hot shower.

I will add that Grinderman were fucking excellent when I saw them live. Seend The Bad Seeds a few times as well, and they're great also.
Fuck RCHP, Embryo hit the nail in the head. Tool would definitely headline based in this years weak lineups, no so sure they would based on previous years though. Though as I originally said, if they had a new album they'd headline any time.

No doubt about seeing Jello. I saw DKs back in the day. This will be a nice reconnect. And his caterwaul has changed little over the last 30 years.
Nick Cave is closing this festival. I am guessing he'll go on the Outdoor stage opposite RHCP. That would be perfect.
I'm still thinking there will be a late add. It won't be Tool, of course. But with all the rumors now being confirmed that RHCP were a replacement for the Rolling Stones, I'm thinking GV won't just stand pat. Even if they do, I love this line up. One of the best I have seen for Coachella.
Got a house within walking distance this year. Pretty stoked about that.

My only concern about Cave closing out against RHCP is the sound bleed will be pretty bad and Nick is not exactly AC/DC
(or Aca/Dacka for you HB)
I saw Jello open for Tool up here in The Bay - KILLER!

Having seen RHCP at Coachella in 2007, they were amazing.
BUT they still had John Fruciante in the band at that point, and they weren't on the back of the new (terrible) album.
Still a great band with a good catalog of tunes ideal to Coachella.

Again, just give me the Bad Seeds closing the main stage on Sunday and all will be right with the world. Fuk I love Nick.
Picked up another copy of Second Coming today (always had their eponymous debut). Gotta say I LOVE the Stone Roses. I know some of you here wouldn't agree, but these guys have some of the Brit pop ever. I've seen them before and know they can struggle if Ian Brown is not on. Still really looking forward to it.
On the subject of Puscifer, I saw them almost 2 years ago. I really enjoyed it. What can I expect from them here?

who knows.
I saw them at Bonnaroo last year and they introduced the "Vagina Airlines" themed show. It was during the day and included the "picture frames/video screens" that Maynard and Carina stayed behind. Of all the shows I've seen of them, it was the most underwhelming.

Vagina Airlines is not a new theme, they've done that pretty much since they started touring. And i disagree on it being underwhelming, it features "rockier" versions of the songs and was pretty powerful in a theater setting.

so maybe it's just one of the "rotating" themes then? I've seen them like 5 times including the first show ever at the Pearl and it was the first time I had seen it.
