Or, they got some really good advice from their management company who pointed out the fact they haven't released a new album in three years and would have a hard time filling 15,000 seat venues.
They'd sell out the Oakland Arena instantly. I don't know about the Mid-West but they don't need a lot of advance notice to sell out an arena show on the west coast.

i feel very fortunate they are coming to Cinci. I thought this mini-tour would be a few stops at some major summer festivals. I flipped when I saw the Cinci show announced! This will be my 6th TOOL show (3rd 10,000 Days Show) I wonder if they will play "Wings For Marie" ? I read somewhere that Maynard doesn't want to perform it anymore (understandable) I'm taking a friend who has never seen them, and the live performance of that would be quite an experience for my friend!

I think we can all agree that at LEAST 1-2 new songs will be played on this tour. (new as in songs that havent been played since pre-10kd, not "new album" songs)
I would have to say in my opinion, either wings+10000 or rosetta would have to be dropped. then you have the staples of schism, stinkfist and 46+2 which they ALWAYS play... jambi+vicarious have been played every show since 2006 as well...
lateralus has been played almost every show since 2001...
ect.
if they are going to play a variety of different songs, they are going to have to cut a lot of songs that have been staples to their concerts over the past 3 (and in some cases 7-8) years.

that would be sweet!!! but i really dont care what they play.
I am stoked that i am seeing them the second day of the tour in slc. just because it wont be at all tempting to check out the setlist from previous shows. i looked at every setlist for the 10,000 days tour so no song ever suprised me, but one that did was swamp song the second night at the pearl in vegas. it was worth seeing the same setlists two nights in a row just to hear the added swamp song. i did see them at coachella 06 so i had no idea what they were going to play but the 5 times after coachella i pretty much knew what they were going to play.

Yeah, I'm definitely betting on them dropping 10K/Wings. I'm pretty sure I remember some comments from Maynard on not doing it anymore. And that will free up some time for other songs, but from other comments MJK has made, it sounds like they won't pull too much from the older albums. I'd bet on a heavy dose from 10K Days and Lateralus.
Although I doubt they'll do it, I wish to God they would retire Schism. All show momentum comes to a grinding halt with that song.
Can't wait to see Lateralus live again. And I hope we'll get Right In Two as well.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
10k days/Wings had its place on the last tour, and I'm pretty sure it won't be played again live on this tour. I'd also like to see Rosetta Stoned go (Love it on the album, just can't get too into it live).
That leaves 4 killer live songs from 10k Days, Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot, Right in Two....
Which means that there is a lot of room for stuff from the other albums, maybe 3 or 4 from lateralus, 3 or 4 from aenima, and maybe 1 or 2 from undertow/opiate, and like Justin said, maybe a cover.

"Rosetta" is probably out of the rotation as it's really 'taxing' on Maynard's vocals with all the screams and such, it's cool on the album but kind of a drag live so it'd be nice to put it to rest. I'd imagine that if "Right In Two" were to be played they might actually debut "Intension" as well since they didn't do it last tour. I can see "Jambi" being a mainstay, probably "Vicarious" (though hopefully not) and maybe "The Pot" sporadically.
It will be interesting to see what they use as the opener and the closer for this tour. Hopefully getting "The Grudge" as the opener and "Ćnema" or "Lateralus" as a closer...but hopefully not "Vicarious" again.

more info please.
Typically that means you need to get a password from the EDGE or find it online somewhere. Then you'd buy the tix on ticketmaster after entering the password in the designated box. I'm not sure if they do thinks differently than most, however.

I think Vicarious rocks live, but that it would be better in the middle of the set. Lateralus is the ultimate closer. I'm pretty sure almost every show in 01/02 ended with it, and it was an awesome way to end things. They closed with Aenima when I saw them in 2006 and that was awesome as well.
Either way, I think that we are going to get some really great set lists on this tour, as in a great mix from 10k days, lateralus and aenima, with 1 or 2 from undertow or opiate (hopefully flood!)
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Alright, so I signed up for the edge club...
it gives me a "special link" that just goes back to the main ticketmaster page the public can access. after 10AM tomorrow do I still have to use the "special link" from the edge website, or can anyone just use the general ticketmaster website as long as they use the "TOOL" password?

Not to be a dick, but they did not play Vicarious in Oklahoma City in 07 (I was really surprised cause it was a great crowd felt a lot of energy that night). I would have to say my favorite closer having heard Aenima, Lateralus, and Vicarious it would have to be Aenima (for a closer) The reason being the lyrics to that song......
