After years of familiarity with this song, a recent listen made me appreciate the subtleties in the vocal groans about halfway through the song. I've always known they were there but never really thought about how much it's contributing to the texture of the other instruments.
And I'm no Maynard nut-hugger. If there are a set of massive testicles in the band that I'm guilty of cuddling/worshiping (figuratively of course), it would be those of Danny. But it's just subtitles like this that go a long way with me.
The groans/vocal textures I'm talking about start around 2:55 in the song. And as a producer, I'm curious as to how the recording engineer got some of those effects. It sounds like a reverse reverb/delay that phases itself out.
