46n2

Alright, I know this debate is done over and over, but I had to get amongst it.

Check this out. I copied this from Wikipedia, but it would be present in most texts about chromosomal numbers in animals:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chromosome numbers (2n) in some animals Species # Species #
Common fruit fly 8
Dove 16
Earthworm Octodrilus complanatus36
Domestic cat 38
Lab mouse 40
Rabbit 44
Human 46
Domestic sheep 54
Cow 60
Horse 64
Kingfisher 132
Silkworm 56
--------------------------------------------------------------

Note the 2n?

Human chromosomes = 2n46

It's easier and sounds cooler if you say "46 n 2"

Extra chromosomes, less chromosomes. BAH!

As for this, from that Drunavlo bloke:
"There are three totally different kinds of humans on the Earth, meaning that they perceive the One reality in three different ways, interpreted differently. The first kind of human has a chromosome composition of 42+2. They comprise a unity consciousness that does not see anything outside themselves as being separate from themselves. To them, there is only one energy - one life, one beingness that moves everywhere. Anything happening anywhere is within them, as well. They are like cells in the body. They are all connected to a single consciousness that moves through all of them. These are the aboriginals in Australia."

Get an indigenous australian and give them a blood test. I think you'll find that their chromosomes are 2n46, just like the rest of us.

EDIT: Added the lines to make it easier to read

No it's due to the amazing post up there. It's just phenomenal... I feel like I've lived nothing but a lie thus far in my life. Tool had this in their song and I was oblivious to it. Now that I have confronted it, I know nothing. :(

I'm calling it all BS. I t has nothing to do with having a pair more or less

I understand, and I agree mostly with what you're saying, but are you familiar with sex chromosome trisomy? If you think having more or less chromasomes is B.S., then this is a well documented phenomenon... there are some amzing things in nature, our comprehension is still so limited-perhaps you should open your mind to the possibilty...just my 2 cents

maybe you should jump up and down until you hear a popping noise...that would be your head coming out of your ass...douchebag. I also won't point out the irony of your own grammatical errors. Why don't you take my two cents and invest it in something constructive?

Re: 46n2

actually, I apologize. I realize you're just picking a fight, and I should have the maturity not to succumb to such petty endeavors, and I have, in turn, displayed an equivalent lack of respect for the creator of this thread by engaging in such foolishness.
In the future, I will watch my grammar more closely so as not to make such mistakes, and I thank you for pointing out my mistakes, even if I had already identified the error.

Re: 46n2

Here are my thoughts on 46 & 2

Shadow is a term originally used by Carl Jung (Psychologist/Philosopher?) to describe an aspect of the human subconscious mind. Shadow refers to the "darker" things deep down inside of us that can influence our everyday thoughts, feelings and actions. We all have a shadow but most of us are unaware of it. Things that reside in your shadow are most likely residual emotions, subconscious beliefs or thoughts that are not acknowledged or noticed by the conscious mind.

An individuals shadow may be the underlying cause of addiction, self sabotage or unexplained emotions and behavior. Whilst the Shadow continues to reside in the subconscious the individual is less whole and their Shadow has more influence over them. The idea of the song 46&2 is that one can heal themselves and grow (emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally etc.) by allowing themselves to address, experience and either incorporate or transmutate their shadow consciously (you can't fix something if you don't know about it).

To truly see your shadow you need to peal away the various layers of the self and withhold judgment of what you find as you go deeper. The shadow (as the name suggests) harbors the very things we don't want to know about our own nature. By bringing the shadow into conscious awareness you are then able to deal with it and bring about real change as apposed to denying that "those things" exist inside of you and continually kidding yourself.

The 46&2 part is a metaphor. It is not literal. Dogs have 78 chromosomes, Goldfish have 100. This does not mean however that the 46&2 reference is a mistake. As with most forms of art it is useful to explore concepts and ideas from alternative points of view. Even if a concept is fundamentally flawed, it may be useful to entertain such fantasies for a while in order to gain new insight. Also, by including such a concept as 46&2 in a song tool achieves their main purpose. They provoke doubt in the listener, leaving them no option but to go away and think for themselves.
