What part of my post was 'dissing' anyone? Did I ever say something like "those people who obesess over certain aspects of tool are dickheads"? Can you provide me with some examples of when I've actually done this? I'm happy to look at my attitude and change it if necessary, but I genuinely disagree with you that I'm overly harsh on Tool fans.
You know I joined Toolnavy, and to a certain extent created Fourtheye so that I could have some kind of voice in the Tool community, I'm not about to start keeping my opinions to myself just because someone thinks I should act more like Kabir.
Fuck you Hellboy.
Kabir>You.
(Only because you banned me from Fourtheye because I watch "Glee")
It's usually best to expect the worst and hope for the best.
If the "worst" includes Third Eye and The Patient, then I'll definitely take it!
It is fun to try to predict what they will do though. At this point it definitely would seem that Intension, Right In Two and Flood are being reserved for second night, same city shows. Of course, past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.

I really wasn't saying that either (act more like Kabir, I mean)... I dunno, I guess it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things and I am questioning why I said anything in the first place. Probably a function of my personality and your personality being different or sometihng like that. This is just my opinion anyways, shouldn't have put you on blast, guess I was feeling sheisty or something heh.
For the record man, I love Fourtheye and spend more time there than I do here... at least when looking for current information, so for that I say thanks. The rest is minutiae...

Dig back a couple of pages in this thread for some talk about it. They have unique show posters again for $100 a pop. I think they have fully signed ones with doodle art on them by Adam for $400. They also have some unique t shirts with art by Adam or Justin. Don't quote me on any of this- I just plan to be there early regardless. I'll only pay big $ for something like the aforementioned if I like the artwork. Not really a collector.
Actually the unsigned posters are $25 and the signed posters are $100. I think the $400 was on ebay or something. We got the St. Charles signed one for $100.

You can list stuff on eBay all day. Like a 1000 dollars for Tool guitar pick. Or a poster. But it wont sell. Auctions determine the true value. Like when Maynard was doing the Whole Foods tour. Selling signed wine bottles. I got mine for 10 dollars. There was atleast 100 of them on eBay.
So for waiting in line outside for hours before the show. They had to bring something to protect the poster. Pay 100 dollars for one. Carry it around all night. And sell it on eBay for 110 dollars. Sweet, they made 10 bucks. Not a bad return.
Oh I forgot. eBay and Paypal charges you 15 dollars a month later for listing the auction.
Great I lost 5 bucks. Wait, I had to wait in line at the post office to mail it. Another 5 dollars for postgae.
Do the signed posters come with a tube to keep them in during the show?

Grand Total
Lost 10 dollars and 5 hours of my time.
Dumbass
You may not be watching these as closely as myself but the posters that people bought for $25 at the show are selling on auctions for between $150-$230

yea they do, its a big triangle box thing, i would suggest bringing something with you that is smaller. thats what im gonna do, the triangle box thing is kinda overkill to drag around the show.
they had it in 07 with the lil tubes that fit the poster perfect.

At the Kansas City show the people running the merch booth offered to hold on to peoples poster during the show. You just put your name and number on the box and picked it up after the show. I did it along with others and I didnt see anyone have issues getting theres back. Dont know if all places do that but might be worth asking. It was nice to not have to worry about the poster all show.
sucks we got the plainest posters at the NOLA show, some of these others are sickness, especially the justin and his wife one and the one justin drew
Yeah, I feel the same way... I would have bought one of the posters at the St Paul show if it was pretty much any of the ones from the other dates. The St Paul one kinda sucks imo.
This is kind of a long shot but I was at the Regina show two days ago and the preshow music was really great. There was one track in particular I haven't been able to get out of my head but I don't know the name of it. I'm hoping that it's the same pre show playlist for each date and someone here might be able to recognize the song from this brief description.
It was a slower, funkier song that seemed to end or was followed by the sound of ocean waves. There were vocals but they were mixed quite low, very cool drum beat (almost electronic sounding) with sparse clean guitar during the intro and versus. During the chorus the singer would belt out a long sustained but not overly loud WOOOOOOOOAAAAHHHH but I couldn't make out any lyrics.
The song came on probably 10-20 minutes after the doors opened, so about 40 minutes or so before Dalek went on.
I know the song that played shortly after it was untrust us, by crystal castles, this song here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGOiIfih8Ls
If anyone thinks they know the song I'm describing, or the whole preshow music playlist please let me know.

When I got to the booth at red rocks, I was told by the clerk that the only ones left were signed ones for $750!!! My jaw hit the floor!

ha---Tool's smart, they've been to eBay. Fuck everyone who immediately puts their poster up on eBay, they're killing it for the real fans. To those of you who are reading this and are justifying that signed poster you sold on eBay in your mind right now, I'll just retort: fuck you. End of conversation.
On a lighter note, I'll throw some Maynardisms out there. I always like hearing/reading them. There are some on CU but not a lot. I'm listening to the '07 SF show right now, this was his (-)ions speech:
"There's politically correct, and then there's fuckin' crazy. I got yelled at today for using too much oxygen. What's up with you people?!? Are you ready? Take your politically correct hands and put them in the sky, whip them all the way back on your politically correct buttockses [sic], and hang on because it's gonna be a wild ride" *cue Stinkfist*
"We purchased these Oompa-Loompas at a fire sale, they were a little bit too tall to work at the chocolate factory"
and this isn't really a Maynardism, just him rambling before they performed Holiday in Cambodia and Maynard stood there and watched:
"We have a special guest for this next track. (Adam, you wanna introduce him?) How many of you are 21, raise your hands? 21 and under. Then you'll have no idea what the fuck we're talking about right now. Jello Biafra. Dead Kennedys. We're gonna do a little tune. uh, Holida-Holiday Holiday--what is it?---oh, Holiday in Cambodia. I'm only 21 so I don't know what it is either. oh shit. Junior, lights on this fucker, please" *lights darken on a white stage, spotlight on Jello, bass intro by Justin*

Has anyone that's been to these recent shows noticed if they are still selling ballcaps in the merch area? I have one from 07 that has... a lot of character to it now. Hoping they still have them, I need a new one.
this is a sticky dood, it's got nowhere to be bumped to or from
In addition to that, somebody had replied to this thread twenty minutes before the bump. To say that it was unnecessary would be a gross understatement.

Hahahahahaha, I sold my signed dallas poster from 2009 for $350 a few weeks ago on ebay. What do you think of that? Guess what i used that money on. Tool tickets! These signed posters are collectibles. they appreciate in value. Sometimes people sell off assets in tough situations. Maybe you should open your mind to the concept of a free market economy. I know my (and probably your) favorite band has. ;)
But i get the gist of what your laying down there. It's the people who go to the shows and just buy up 10 posters just to put on ebay right when they get home. That shit's not cool. But there are legit reasons to sell em to the highest bidder.
Nothing wrong with selling off your old valuables for some extra pocket money, I just hate that shit when people go to the merch booth and buy up all the limited edition stuff in bulk with the sole intent of turning around and tossing it on eBay for 5x face value. Fuck those people, they're just like ticket scalpers.

That's why a "1 or 2 per person" limit should be standard for all limited merch.
On a side note: *laughs at the entire state of Ohio*
Like when I attended the Maynard wine signing in Plano, TX and people were buying up to two dozen bottles each of the most expensive one. So when I finally got through the door all they had left was the cheapest one. I bought 2 of them becuase I wanted to drink one and save one. I think that's legit. Although I still haven't opened either of them. But a maximum amount should be set for items like the wine bottles and LE posters. So many people stood in line for hours that day and didn't even get inside the doors because of all the inconsiderate people buying everything they could. But oh well, what are you gonna do?
damn dude, very nice setup with the frame, ticket, etc. I wish I'd bought a poster at that show. How much did you pay for the poster? I should really pick one up this year...

That's a little different though, at least I think it might be. You got to 'enjoy' that artwork for a year, and then you passed it on to someone else.
The thing that pisses me off is seeing signed posters from this tour on eBay already. People buy them and put them on sale the next day. The only intent there is to make money. We live in a capitalist society, so it's not like this is an offensive activity to me---it's more like, they drove up the prices and made it impossible for ME to buy a signed poster. That's why I'm pissed. I paid twice face value for one fucking ticket because some asshole who runs a scalping business (I looked him up, he has a funky name so he wasn't hard to find) makes a living off taking advantage of fans. I bet that guy couldn't even name one Tool album if his life depended on it.
I bought my huge Alex Grey 'Net of Being' at a 2006 show, had it on my wall for a couple years, and then took it down because I wanted to look at other stuff. I'm not saying if you buy a poster you have to keep it forever....I just think that ONLY people who actually want a signed poster should be able to buy one. Either that, or Tool will just keep their ridiculous prices to even the playing field. One day I'll make enough money to buy real art, and then 400 bux for a print that was scribbled on in purple sharpie will be a mere drop in the bucket.

While I of course agree with everything you said, I can't help but point out that doing such a thing would be the exact basis of capitalism - finding opportunities to make a profit. Sure, it's a superbly unethical and shitty thing to do for all Tool fans - It's a legitimate business opportunity that the USA is built upon. It's all about the dollars.
